Playing time and dollars will be there for him. He wants to be the guy and I think if we get Sherrell that will push him in another direction although both could co-exist here just fine IMO and get plenty of minutes.

No doom here just trying to be realistic. If Sherrell is just chasing a bag, we may be the choice. If he wants to get to the league, he may want to go to MSU since Izzo can sell that. Izzo is an excellent recruiter so I never like to underestimate him. There's still Duke that could offer a bag to get him. We got him on campus and gave him our best shot $$ and pitch. Hopefully it's enough. I do think we need to move on the next plans or we will end up with Reed Bailey 2.0 again if we wait too long for an answer.

I think you move to plan B/C/D while he's visiting MSU so you are not behind the 8 ball if he chooses them. Most of what i have seen on X is that if MSU comes close he will choose them. Could just be chatter though won't know until we know.

Yes this is me for sure. We just haven’t seen our name out there for many and I think that’s where the worry comes in given we ended up with Bailey and Alexis (who battled his @ss off) last season. Gotta hope Carr knows what we need and is getting us hooked in to some others we haven’t heard about yet.

I think it’s probably because every guard that is reported in the portal IU name is listed but a BIG goes in and we don’t seem to be listed. Can’t blame anyone for being a little skeptical given their portal picks last season in that position. CDD has acknowledged he made mistakes. Hopefully they are in on guys we haven’t heard about yet or are making some overseas connections.

2 of 4 would still be a win. I hope the staff and Carr have ins with other bigs and wings that are athletic and under the radar guys. If Sherrell doesn’t pan out we need to shift to plans B, C, D, and E which I hope we are still in contact with anyway. Can’t blame Harris if he decides to stay at home and play.

Maybe an end of the bench cheap practice body? That’s discouraging given our need for size. I have no doubt CDD can land guards. We need size and athleticism badly. This staff has got to go out and find it one way or another.

Any chance Carr has any connections overseas that we are looking for BIGS there? Illinois seems to have success with their foreign national team lol

Isn’t BYU after Reibe? I thought I saw that on X. So he’s more of a 4 not true C? Still need a banger or two to play in the paint even with him. Would be a good pick up regardless.

We really need to start looking for more of a rim protector athlete or two. Do we even know if Acimovic is serviceable? He did not play in any B1G games that I know of. Putting all your eggs in one basket will leave you holding the bag. I hope we land Sherrell but Izzo is way more proven with BIGS than our staff so if the $$ similar I can see him going there. Is Duke still in the mix for him?

We continue to be mentioned for guards. We need BIGS to compete. We have one on campus who we are all in on but if we do not get him seems like we are going to scramble again. Yes I’ve seen Andragas list but it has maybe a couple BIGS on there and some already off the board. Riebe does not seem likely either.

Yea the numbers are staggering this year. Really do think there needs to be some sort of cap. Hopefully Dolson is working the phones to help find some more money. Just doesn’t feel sustainable for any team at this point.

If we only have 14m investing half that in two guys is risky that’s all I’m saying. It would be one thing if we only needed two guys but we basically have Trent on the bench lol and 3 freshman incoming. I hope we sign them but I hope we don’t blow the budget and we are able to get 7 guys that can compete.

Wow 3+ for Burton and 4 for Sherrell? That’s a lot invested in two players…half the budget and you have to sign several more.
