What do we have besides money to offer is my question? I don't know what looks enticing to a prospect unless it's money and playing time. Most of the better ones want to go to an established program where they can at least know they should be able to showcase their talents in the NCAAs after regular season. We are starting from scratch again... Hope he can do it. Even if Carr identifies good talent, we still have to be able to convince them to come...

I wasn’t a fan of McCollum style but he’s very smart and damn good coach. His players play hard and it appears they have a buy in to the culture. Do not have top NIL and still assembled a team that competes. Obviously bringing Stirtz was key to their success. But I would think with Stirtz heading to the NBA he will likely be able to draw some talent there he can develop.

He is a coach I really wanted at IU although I pretty much assumed he wasn’t attainable. Good halftime adjustments and their defense was terrific. Jefferson was a big loss. Impressed with them today.

Purdue may get by Texas but I don’t think they beat Arizona. That’s who I think wins it all.

Not surprised. At this point, UM is a better program with a better coach. I don't blame Sisley at all. IMO, Sisley leaving will really hurt our Indiana recruiting. This kid came to Indiana because it was Indiana regardless of the coach. Bad look... CDD deserves more time however he didn't show all that much this year especially in the end run where we lost all of those games. Concerning things with coaching especially adjustments. I get the roster construction was poor, he took too long to get assistants, etc. But we still should be able to beat NW with that roster. He was outcoached twice and the players were defeated when they got down. All of it doesn't invoke much confidence for next year. Although we have Carr now, CDD/staff still have to be able to sell these guys on why they should come to IU. We have money and playing time but not much else. Time will tell. I hope we find the players we need in the portal, but I can't say I am very optimistic about next season being much different from this one. I very much hope I am wrong.

I also read his dad is taking visits currently? Could be a rumor but if that's true, it likely means the dad is looking for $$ too.

You have to wonder if we've shown enough this year to attract the players we need to compete? We have money and playing time but what else is attractive at this point? If they are only coming for a paycheck, then we get the comments about glad to be here and not eating Dominoes pizza anymore...

This is my thought too although I don't think they exactly executed the way he envisioned it. Hopefully he adapts with some athletic bigs that can bang plus a quick point guard that can penetrate, score, and push the ball at a quick pace. I think he thought he could negate the bigs of the B1G with quickness and 3-point shooting. Clearly not but as history has shown, the B1G style doesn't translate in March. How long has it been since B1G has had a basketball champion? CDD would do well to hybrid the conference approach with his own to try and be more successful during March IMO. But definitely has to win in conference first or no march to adapt to...

These are my thoughts and honestly a starting point for this program. Just be respectable in the conference to start and get to the tournament yearly. The recruiting then will start working itself out, and you can slowly build this thing to get to top 3 in the conference. I have given up hoping I'll see another banner in this lifetime. I've seen 2 I guess that's my quota. I just want to see my team called on selection sunday on an annual basis again. With a respectable NIL budget, I just can't understand how that cannot happen.

Agreed. I really don't think he realized the grind and physicality of the league. Clearly, he sees now how undermanned the team is on the interior. Carr is an important piece to roster building. Hopefully we see a big difference in next season's team.

This is what I think too. I really think he thought moving from WVU he would be able to recruit higher level kids easier because its INDIANA. Dusty banners and a program that hasn't been successful in these recruits' lives doesn't make it an easy sell. Not to mention most high-level recruits have NBA aspirations, and CDD hasn't proven to be that coach at this point. So, we can sell playing time and cash but not much else. Carr has NBA connections...maybe they can sell that to those recruits. This is a tough job with a rabid fanbase that has high expectations from the past that doesn't make it easy on a coach to come in and build. I will say football winning has taken some heat off however so that may be a good thing for CDD in the long run. This is such a sleeping giant. Seems preposterous to me that this program that should have been so easy to get going has been so mismanaged for this long.

Ofcourse. I hope we have no drop off. What I was saying is if we do, there will be disappointment but prior to Cig coming we would have happily taken 6 or 8 wins and a bowl game. Now it will be hard to turn back and anything other than the playoffs will disappoint but I think all of our fans appreciate where we were and how far Cig has taken us. So, an off year of playoffs while disappointing wouldn't anger our fanbase or turn on the program LOL

My nephew is at IU now. He says nobody down there really talks about or cares about IUBB. Most would rather hit the bars and unless they see football players enter the bars not alot of the people he is with would know who is on the basketball team if they walked into the bar. Far cry from the days of being a big dog on campus for being on the IUBB team. I was asking him if he's had tickets or been to games. He said no interest in basketball and had football the last couple years. Said the bars were rocking after IUBB beat Purdue at home but not much else to speak of this season on campus with basketball. I am sure if CDD can turn this around and make the tournament in the years ahead the fanbase will start supporting and the students will be engaged again.

Everyone may be a little disappointed but before the Cig hire and subsequent success, we would gladly take 8-4 or just 6 wins and a bowl game. I hope we can be in the playoffs every year but that type of success is tough albeit sustainable if they go to a 16 team or 24 team playoff. Can't see how we drop off much given Cig's drive to succeed and the continued development of players/portal players he brings yearly.

Believe me I’ve been very critical of him all season. I just felt today he gave good effort. As good as I’ve seen all year from him.

Sisley is also important for in state recruiting. It is not a good look to other Indiana kids that Sisley gets next to no playing time and then leaves the next year. Especially after staying committed through the coaching change. I agree we cannot buy a whole new roster each year. Continuity is important. It’s important for portal guys coming in to have some idea who will be here. It’s important when hosting portal guys we have someone that can sell the program as well. Lastly, it’s important the staff show they can develop young players. Still need to have a few hs players each year and developing them to help the team in later years will only continue to draw other guys in.

For me I didn’t see great effort by the whole until the second half. The first half Tucker, Alexis, and Miles really stood out. Tucker has not always been my favorite player but that kid played his a$$ off today. Wilkerson really turned it on in the second half but he was non existent in the first. We need him to be that second half Lamar in every game. I think we win a few more games if we give the second half effort every game both halves.

What really makes you believe the portal season will be better? Honest question. What has his offense or defense shown to make it enticing to play at IU? His personality seems reserved so it does give me pause as to how he’s coming off to recruits. I really think Dolson ran out of options. He got a lot of NOs and Darien was one that said yes. I’m unsure if I see anything that makes me think he’s better than the last 2 coaches. Hoping I’m wrong and that Carr does work miracles with a better roster which makes a difference on the floor.
