  1. I like that Brian Kelly went to a school with higher upside than ND -- the last three LSU coaches won national titles, it's just a bigger program that's easier to recruit to. But, he flopped, and it's all on him and not the program, which is great.
  2. The most recent tear was August. I don't know how it evolved over the season, which is another consideration.
  3. Spot on. Someone posted somewhere that he recruits like he is K or Self, but he quite obviously is not, and it doesn't work. That plus not loving recruiting, game prep, etc., means we have quite the bad combo with our coach.
  4. He is reasonably mobile, much more than injured KR. It should be a big difference. The other factor is he was sacked something like 40 times at Cal, tops in the FBS. That has to be such a nightmare to deal with, and just providing basic protection could result in a huge pop in his stats. Getting away from Cal's terrible OL plus Cignetti's QB magic has me really excited about his upside next year.
  5. If OSU beats Texas, they will probably be 10+ points favs vs. ND. I'll be cheering for OSU. I really dislike OSU, but to them it's just another title. ND winning it all would break a 36 year drought or whatever is, which would be a huge deal for them. I don't want to see that for snobby ND. I like Marcus Freeman, but ND is just an insufferable institution.
  6. I don't know. My guess is he came into this job thinking he would be naturally be awesome and it would be pretty easy. He had NIL/portal to help with recruiting, and he is from the sophisticated NBA and this is Podunk CBB As we've seen that hasn't panned out in terms of recruiting or on-court results. Even with the poor results, I would guess he still wants to coach. While media and fans may call him out mostly online, he is probably pretty insulated from that and he gets treated well in person. He doesn't work very hard on recruiting or game prep and he gets $4M/yr and he can hangout at the Fellas Lounge, host golf tournaments, hold court at nice restaurants, etc. If he had to work as hard as most top CBB coaches, he probably wouldn't like this job very much. But he does the job his way and that works for him. Hopefully it stops working for IU soon.
  7. It’s been pretty funny to watch Drew Brees get close to A&M lately. Even said he always wanted to be an Aggie lol.
  8. If they wanted Mike to stay so bad they would have extended him. They didn’t for a reason.
  9. It's tough to follow all the other teams, but it looks like there is still a QB need at ND, Oregon, UGA, and Miami. I'm not sure what QBs are out there, but it doesn't seem like many, maybe Ewers if UT wants to get Arch in there? I'm not sure who all these teams are going to get. IU locking up a top-2 QB was impressive and important with all that competition out there.
  10. I don't blame you. For my own sanity, I've got to hold out hope for something, and that is Scott running things and getting the next hire right. But yea, we have a lot of idiot stakeholders running around and who knows what they might do.
  11. I think with Scott bringing in tens of millions of extra revenue with the FB success and all the great exposure he got the whole university, he is now at the wheel and not lame duck Quinn. Scott produces results, Quinn doesn’t and he is departing.
  12. The crowds at AH are not a "sect." They're very large sample sizes that accurately reflect the state of broader fanbase. You may not like how the broader fanbase feels, but it is what it is. I would guess Scott notices the atmosphere at AH is poor, but he's probably looking at concrete numbers like declining attendance and declining revenue/donations related to bball.
  13. Nope. In addition to irrelevant comparisons to Archie, there will be quite a bit of "he made the tournament three out of four years how can you fire him???" Many will forget we have one of the most expensive rosters in college basketball. Depressing.
  14. I shudder at the thought of him doing well at Duke and us fans finding out we could have hired him. It would be like the painful stories of all those bball coaches we could have hired over the years...
  15. I would 100% go to this game if we had a good coach that was trying to build a serious program.
  16. With less NIL and tougher transfer rules at UM. Depressing.
  17. Yea. I see the above and I also see #10 in KenPom and #11 in the NET after taking over a bad team. It is early though. I honestly don’t know if he is the right guy for us. I’ve got to hope Dolson can figure that out through interviews and research. That is if Dusty is even an option…
  18. The crap we get for losing AT (i) Ohio State, the likely national champs who are destroying everyone but UM (psychological issue), and (ii) ND, who is a CFP semi-finalist and maybe finalist, is so stupid. We were bad in those games, but not notably or historically bad. Sheesh. I didn't listen to this, but the story any CFB advocate/talking head should be telling about IU is how a new staff in just one year with 15-20% of the resources of the big football schools won 11 games, and most of the wins were by healthy margins. That's extraordinary and should be celebrated, but no, we get drivel and gaslighting from Kirk and the other idiots like him. Pathetic.
  19. Fair point. But they said it was moved to zoom/dial-in before Mike no-showed, so it wasn't even that. Just some classic Woody at the end of the day.
  20. Woody had Walsh fill in for him lol.
  21. Also visited UNC, Michigan, and Ole Miss. Nice group to beat out.
  22. Nice of EJ to do that. He didn’t have the best experience at IU unfortunately…
  23. Maybe. I hope Dolson is the new King. He might be. He built up football, which resulted in the University being showcased all season long including on Big Noon and Game Day, and he is going to increase our athletic dept revenue by way more than anyone else ever has, which everyone will notice. He was right about wanting to get rid of Woody last year. Things have changed. It's Scott's athletic dept! (fingers crossed)
  24. Good call. I forgot he did.
