  1. The players will get paid with rev share (school pays players directly) and NIL starting next season. The rev share is capped, so the differentiator is still NIL which isn’t capped, and NIL can only come from donors, so we still need them. Basically, our athletic dept revenue is #25-30 in the country. We need everything we can get to keep getting more competitive with the schools with big FB programs.
  2. Yea, our fanbase expectations aren’t very high. We get accused of being “toxic,” but it takes a mega meltdown like last season to actually get fans online fired up. And of course by the time that happens the media are saying the same thing. And the actual game crowds are still supportive and no one in the program is confronted in the real world.
  3. I don't know, if he makes a S16 or E8 I think he has a pretty good case to stay. I completely get your perspective though. For me, my only priority is Woody out, I don't think anything else matters, so I get worried if we do enough to keep him around, but what we do to keep him around isn't anything special (something like don't compete for the conference title, but win a tourney game or two). Ideally he would announce his retirement and I could just pull for IU like usual. Everyone wants what's best for IUBB, but the way the program is run with all the political influences, what's best for IU gets complicated, unfortunately.
  4. How so? I couldn’t watch so I’m curious.
  5. He does the "I'm wise and you dumb fans don't know what you're talking about" bit that is annoying. Otherwise, he's not bad.
  6. I'd love more intel on NIL, it's so important but it's hard to get data points and it's fluid in nature. I'd guess we're now middle of the conference, maybe just below that, which is big progress from being one of the bottom teams a little over a year ago. I'm also curious how we allocate the $22M rev share to the various sports.
  7. I’ve got zero interest in attending an IU game right now, but it is cool families can easily afford to go. Ideally no one would go to send a message, but that’s not realistic.
  8. It would be fun to have Dusty May coaching for us right now. ☹️
  9. Didn’t go cheap on football.
  10. He may work out very well. I like his modern system and demeanor. Most of his accomplishments are based around one tourney run though. We’ll see how he does this B1G season. I think he will do a pretty good job. I don’t care much about all the IU stuff, which are the last nine points on this list. I like it, but don’t think it’s key to winning games here. I just want Scott to consider all options and not weigh the IU connection too much. The 1,000% Grand Slam hire is in Boston. I don’t think we pry him out though.
  11. May could work out well, I just hope we do a complete search and don’t give preference to guys with IU ties. IU ties don’t help.
  12. We know the buyout, it's the remainder of his contract, which is about $8.4M. We only have to pay $1M per year until it's paid off, so it's not a big cash flow hit in any one year.
  13. Yep, without offering big money I don't know who he lands. Inheriting TJD was a fortunate break too.
  14. Smart. Don’t rush this and take time to assess any ongoing risks before 70K people converge on a stadium.
  15. It's very sad to say, but I'm happy for kids that avoid coming to Woody's IU. They're very likely better off. It's a hard truth.
  16. Yea, if he is fired end of this season IU has to pay him his remaining contract of $8.4M. However, we only have to pay $1M/yr until that amount is paid off, which helps.
  17. It's pretty absurd/insane a UM grad married Larry Ellison and UM got a huge NIL boost from it. What a lucky break for UM sheesh.
  18. The TJD and Ware development narrative was likely nonsense. With those talents, it was a matter of time until they figured it out, yet the pro-Woody crowd latched on to the idea he was a player developer because they didn’t have much else to celebrate. And of course, this broken program did a poor job with a long list of players.
  19. Yep. $3-4M/yr at IU with the big status head coach title vs $1M/yr as an NBA assistant. It’s never been about returning IUBB to national prominence or whatever made up stories we got. It’s about an extra $17M over six years vs his dead end NBA career.
  20. Nothing I have seen, but Woody needs this win so I would bet he plays.
  21. This sort of gaslighting is so pathetic -- everyone can see the W/L record and missing the 68 team tournament by a country mile.
  22. Haha. My eyes will roll out of the back of my head and this will be some of the most infuriating gaslighting imaginable. Mike is toxic. I cannot wait for him to be gone forever.
  23. The pro-Woody crowd gets upset with the fans, but unfortunately for them CBB media, analysts, journalists, and content creators say the same stuff. Everyone is observing the same bad program.
  24. That was fun, unfortunately it was more or less the peak that season before the collapse. I've got no issue with our players being out, I remember seeing players out all the time. Going to the Vid after a game is fine, I don't care, though the timing here isn't great. But being out late the night before a game is a problem. It's a no-no in pretty much every sport at every level, and likely against team rules. It shows a lack of discipline and seriousness, which is pervasive with this program. We've only got 30 or so games, just stay in the night before like every other committed athlete.
