It’s been interesting. Some may not agree but I thought our turnout at ND last year was kinda weak for being in-state. But now the IU fanbase is mobilized and it’s been better than I hoped. We actually do have one of the biggest and most passionate fanbases out there… we just needed some games to go to!

Don’t give away the secret sauce y’all! j/k With stuff like this Cig could write out everything he considers, give it to someone else, and they still wouldn’t be able to do it. I’m pretty sure his experience and eye can’t really be replicated. -
I’ll be the insufferable poster. Miami’s is an ibis. And I know you’re kidding and I regret posting this now.

FWIW word is Long wanted to be closer to home. Could be true, could be rationalizing, but he is from CA, so I tend to believe it. On to the next one... -
How about that! Some order in CFB! First time in a long time.

Wow. Yea. And then there are the fans. He’s gonna get booed at home. Good luck Fisch… Also this means LSU needs a QB, as does Miami, Bama, maybe Oregon, and some other big schools… yeesh. Great job by our staff to zero in on our guy and get that done.

UW may also want some sort of buyout, which the contract states UW can set at their discretion. He’s definitely done at UW as we know, but maybe UW wants to get $1-2M in a buyout before he goes? That would be a good outcome if it happened. Would indicate these rev share contacts have some teeth.

I really like stoic sideline coaches setting the tone for the team. Never too high, never too low. If you win celebrate after the clock hits 00:00. Animated coaches can win, I just don’t like watching the leader of the team appear out of control. -
I can’t resist piling on. I can’t stand the gather. This isn’t how basketball is supposed to be played. When a player moves they’re supposed to be dribbling and it’s a skill and an art. I think it was Ben at Thinking Basketball that made the point the gather has made NBA ball more horizontal vs. vertical. All these extra steps keep the player on the floor (usually for a layup) vs elevating over defenders. It makes the game look quite a bit different. I like dribbling and bball being played vertically — this is the stuff that makes the game look amazing and best showcases the players. I dunno, I don’t get the gather at all.

We continue to force Adidas to support IUFB lol. Had to make the semi-final to get Waffle House “welcomed” to the three stripes. Smh! Should have happened at the beginning of the year.

He can boot it. -
I don't know the exact budget for the roster this year. But I am pretty sure we're in the top 1/3 in the conference. This was Cig's goal, and I wasn't sure if that would ever happen. In Tom Allen's last year, we were basically at the very bottom of the conference. But our donors/fans have mobilized like wildfire and here we are!

Updates on the Demond situation. Dellenger constantly does a good job sourcing info. An update thread on the Demond Williams situation with Washington, per sources to @YahooSports: - Williams signed a one-year rev-share agreement with UW worth about $4M. - The agreement is a Big Ten template document used by all league members and built for situations like this. - The agreement (1) prohibits a player from entering the portal once signed (this is why UW is refusing to enter his name into the portal) and (2) prohibits the player’s NIL rights to be used by any other school, though the player can sign outside marketing agreements. - Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti, coincidentally in Seattle this week for a memorial service, is heavily involved in the matter, along with other Big Ten officials. The league is standing behind UW’s fervent approach to the contract. - Washington officials are expected to communicate later today with Demond Williams’ representatives regarding the situation and next steps. - With UW refusing to enter Williams’ name into the portal, he is not permitted to hold conversations with other programs. - UW officials suspect that Williams has already held conversations with other programs and the school plans to submit any tampering evidence to the league and NCAA. - LSU is believed to be the school most interested in Williams. Very interesting, especially the Big Ten involvement.

Sometimes NFL guys just blab and make up stuff. Any CFB person will tell you the chance of Cig to the NFL is basically zero. -
I think the article is using the university interchangeably with our NIL efforts. I know IU does a good job getting money routed into NIL so it's not subject to the $21.5M rev share cap. This $ is for sure NIL.

It would be nice if UW and the B1G can enforce that contract. I doubt it though. There haven't been too many of these cases since the rev share started. There was one last year where some Wisky kid went to Miami and Wisky said they were going to enforce the contract. I don't know where that case stands, but that kid played all this season at Miami. That contract might be different than Demond's, but still. Unfortunately, Demond and LSU's lawyers think the UW contract is unenforceable, so my guess is he goes to LSU and nothing material happens. CFB (the B1G and SEC) probably won't do anything unless it puts their TV ratings and/or attendance at risk. But they need to be careful with stuff like this that annoys 90% of fans. Honestly, what's stopping anyone from doing anything? What if the Miami Hurricanes decided to sign an NFL free agent with eligibility left on a two game contract for the rest of the playoff and he joined the team this week. Who is stopping that? If someone does, they can just go to court and get an injunction and the player can play. I thought the rev share, which is straight up paying players to play would clean up CFB a bit by introducing stronger than contracts than the flimsy NIL ones, but that hasn't happened.

Could be some drama coming… https://x.com/petethamel/status/2008729889856446877?s=46 “Washington sources say they are prepared to pursue all legal avenues to enforce Demond Williams’ signed contract.”
