Coach Curt Cignetti to INDIANA... Forever and Ever, Amen!
Pagoda replied to mamasa's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Yep. Cig is so obviously a CFB lifer, this NFL suggestion gave me zero pause. Plus like you noted Cig has made it very clear he’s staying here. He would be an interesting NFL coach. His special sauce of talent ID, development, etc. may not apply as much. The culture aspect may be tougher to implement too. But the scheme stuff would probably work. I dunno — we’ll never find out though, which is good. -
#1 INDIANA FOOTBALL 2025 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
Pagoda replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Yea, for me once the weekend ended the magnitude of this game started to hit me and the old butterflies started building up. By gametime my heartrate will be sky high. Not that my opinion matters, but I've got zero issue with comparing this to '02. To each their own with IU athletics. But with CFB being 4-5x bigger than CBB, the story of this IUFB team vs. the surprise run of '02, in my view this game is quite a bit bigger. I'd say it's the biggest IU game ever... by kind of a lot. But, as a fan, this is all you can ask for. The better you get, the bigger the upside and bigger the downside! We've got a decent shot Monday, and that's amazing. -

Presser for the title game. Notably, in addition to Leo’s post Kamara was good, Cig said no injuries coming out of the semifinal. ”We came out really good, and everyone who played in the last game will play in this game." -

More smoke on Shazz. Also, he has a cool name. -
One worth tracking because we are going after him and he’s a notably highly rated RB in the 2027 class.

Well, the kid who wasn’t offered and still “committed” to IU, has decommitted from IU. lol. Strange stunt to pull. https://www.ocala.com/story/sports/high-school/2026/01/11/james-bethea-decommits-from-indiana-football-as-vanguard-wr-reopens-recruitment/88130358007/?gnt-cfr=1&gca-cat=p&gca-uir=false&gca-epti=undefined&gca-ft=0&gca-ds=sophi

Haha. We're so in their heads and they're crashing out so hard. I'm tempted to jump into these X threads and speculate if IU has been working with Palantir.

I mean, IUFB is the biggest athletics success in 40+ years at IU. Scott hired Cig, and even if someone wants to call that luck, he still mobilized unprecedented resources for football here. And when many big CFB programs tried to get Cig, he kept him. At IU of all places. And CFB is really the only sports that matters in college athletics. It's 80% of the revenue and all of the influence. We somehow went from one of the worst to one of the best. From what I can tell, Scott sure seemed to get control of the bball program in 2025 when he fired Woody midseason and seemingly was left alone to make the last hire (CDD). To me, IUBB is all on him right now. I don't think this looks like a very good start, but I just have to hope they figure it out.

IUFB Recruiting and Transfer Portal Updates

I haven't seen a list of who is visiting, but there appears to be momentum with Baxter. -
Quinn as Chairman of the BoT was above Scott. Scott doesn't have the sole power to hire. The hire and contract has to be approved by the BoT. Quinn as Chairman absolutely controlled the BoT on this matter, as the trustees all looked to him with respect to basketball. Furthermore, our most influential basketball donor wanted Woody. So material athletic dept revenue was at risk. I'm not saying Scott was perfect in the 2021 search, but when the unqualified best friend of the Chairman of the BoT and most influential bball donor gets hired, it's pretty clear who made it happen.
