#1 INDIANA FOOTBALL 2025 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
Pagoda replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
If the game was longer UM doesn't probably win. UM never led and they were down by two scores in several instances. We can't just extrapolate UM's best moments and our worst. Look at the win probability chart (more or less the live odds) -- it was a tough game, but the trendline was in our favor the whole time. Nothing like say the Iowa or PSU games. -

One other point on this game. Some people are saying Miami almost had it or whatever. That's not right. - First off, we never trailed - While Miami got some things working in the second half, it's a 60 min game, and we owned the first half - Sure UM made some mistakes, but so did we - Credit UM for some counterpunches, but our win probability never dipped below 70%, and at the end it was 90%+ -

4th down, scramble, get hit, stay on feet and spin away, then dive for the endzone and get hit again for the TD... it's like a movie ending. This is so good. I'd move that south of Memorial statue of non-descript athletes high-fiving (that feels Old Indiana to me) somewhere else and put something that looks like @Brass Cannon's AI render in it's place. -
Here is Cig's view of the final CFB rankings. Interesting. He thoughly pretty highly of ND, Texas and Iowa compared to others. Not so high on TTU.

Spot on. This is a surprisingly bad start. I can’t disagree with the criticisms being levied at CDD this season. We just have to hope. It certainly doesn’t feel right though. From the head coach’s quiet personality to some of the staff… I dunno… If CDD doesn’t work out I’ll be out of explanations. I always thought politics/meddling was the common thread that messed up IUBB since RMK, with the one exception being Glass hiring Archie, but I blamed that on Fred’s lack of experience. However, this time around we had the blueprint of a high performing program 100 yards from Assembly Hall to copy and our AD was in control of this hire… and yet we still struggle. I’m baffled.

If CDD doesn't work out, maybe Scott got unlucky with CDD? We can’t really know, but I don’t see a reason to assume to the worst. It’s not like IUBB was any good for the previous 25 years before Scott got control of the program from Quinn & Co. I’m not saying our AD is perfect. But I can’t ignore all that went into IUFB’s stunning achievements.

One more unhinged edit from this guy. He kept all the receipts. Nsfw language. https://twitter.com/edwardkoton15/status/2013978356572713256?s=46 -

1) I really like it. Perfect band song for defense. Ominous. 2) Does this make us the evil Orcs? I'm gonna say no. Just using their tune. -

We continue to level up with high school recruiting. I can't even keep track of all these names. -
24/7's Wiltfong in his latest video predicts both Mallingers to IU.

Man it’s gonna be cold for this. Like 10* and perhaps snow. I wish they would move this to Assembly Hall. May not be able to fit everyone but it would be so much more comfortable. That said I am soft, so maybe people don’t mind bundling up and going outside for this. -
Another problem is they don’t have much money for them — their NIL is not good and the prospects of that improving are slim. I think with the next B1G media deal and Grant of Rights, the conference is going to look at PU and see (i) a school not moving the needle on ratings and therefore media deal value, and (ii) spending tens of millions less on football per year than the needle movers. Then the conference is going to ask: Why should you get an equal share of the media deal? And they may ask: Why are you here? Any shift to a FB-focused super league won’t have them either. We’ll see if they can figure something out, but it’s not looking great in this new college sports world.

Yea, obviously I wasn’t there, but that story doesn’t pass a sanity check for the reason you noted. And frankly, it just sounds made up, that would be abnormal football trash talk. Seems like a staffer doing PR dirty work. Nothing is stopping Mark from saying something. -

If Hutch (RIP) were still around we would have at least one book already. Will anyone step up and do it? -

Today I heard a lot of CFB media saying IU gives other teams hope that they can do it too. And that we're in some new age of CFB. I don't doubt that it does give other teams hope. And CFB is increasingly more of a level playing field with NIL as we all know. BUT. This is a lot harder than it looks, and our coach is awfully rare. Really rare. Probably only one. So while I could see a lot more new faces in the rankings around #10-25, making the playoff and winning playoff games is a whole other level that will still probably be dominated by the large programs. We'll see... -

That would stink. I'm surprised. I'm quite sure we can match whatever TX offers. Maybe he just wants to play for his hometown team. Just have to trust the staff figure it out -- my default conclusion for all IUFB situations. -
Hmm... Also, Wiltfong logged a prediction to IU here.

Pretty mean to make those guys show up to a presser this morning lol. Katic was out with the team last night per this segment. He doesn’t remember all of it… he’s still drunk… and he’s holding back tears… amazing. -

For sure. I generally view CFB media as mindless entertainment, but I remember the people who for absolutely no reason, ignored the great story of our ‘24 team, and instead took the dumb and wrong angle we didn’t belong in the playoff. Absolute trash. It was great to shove it in their faces this year. -

Yea. Oregon fans are pretty reasonable. OSU fans as we know are usually pretty dreadful. But I’d guess they see us as the most appealing option to win it — a B1G team (for the narrative) they have no history with (aside from beating us). They don’t really see us as a longer-term threat… yet… We shall see. I don’t know much about what other fanbases think either, but this is notably very rough on ND. -

Presser Stu is talking about. Miami is a fun place to win it all. -

I find the “JMU Guys” narrative funny. They aren’t one time anomalies. They’re just players recruited and developed by Cig & Co. More will be coming, only now they’re “IU Guys.”
