  1. Woodson should be fired before December. Won’t happen but at this point I think I’m just gonna check in on this team from time to time to see if it’s worth spending any time watching. Complete embarrassment.
  2. Barstool article: https://www.barstoolsports.com/blog/3532542/i-hate-to-start-the-holiday-season-with-negativity-but-its-time-for-indiana-to-fire-mike-woodson
  3. So… we allowed to criticize our coach outside of the firing him thread? Embarrassing performance, so glad I didn’t take my wife up on her offer to actually go to this game.
  4. Money buys talent nowadays, doesn’t matter when your coach is terrible.
  5. You mean we can’t defend the three, make a three, or rebound? Haven’t heard it before!
  6. Outside of Indiana homers, is there any “top college basketball coaches” list that even has Woodson in the top-50?
  7. Zach Edey has made more threes this season than any player on our roster not named Mgbako.
  8. 11-34 from three after two games against cupcakes. Season will be determined by defensive rebounding, our ability to defend the perimeter, and our ability to knock down threes. We look like a tourney team based on pure talent but this doesn’t look like any sort of threat to win the B1G or to sniff the final four.
  9. Improved talent doesn’t fix poor coaching. Same damn issues every year.
  10. That’s in line with what I felt as well. Talent upgrade with Rice and Ballo but same schematic issues, and lack of shooting, that we were all worried about heading into the year. obviously still early but nothing about today alleviated any of those concerns.
  11. Tuning out on an exhibition, I must be awful. Keep your bad opinions to yourself. Schematically, for the first 30 minutes of the game, this looked the same as last year. The positives were things like Ballos defensive rebounding, and Rice when he got downhill. That’s not coaching though, that’s talent. Maybe the last 10 minutes look better but we’ll see when the games matter. I’m real worried about the perimeter d and lack of shooting, nothing from today suggested any meaningful differences in either of those areas. We were just fortunate Tennessee shoots wide open threes as poorly as we do.
  12. I understand this was an exhibition, and Tennessee should be a good team, but nothing that I’ve seen suggests our coaching staff has actually adjusted much from last year. Perimeter D and shooting still look poor, buddy ball looks to be our norm. Hope I’m wrong but I went ahead and turned that game off. Felt it making me even more pessimistic about how our coach will put these pieces together.
  13. If you’ve seen The Wire, this thread serves as this message boards Hamsterdam. Keeps all of us delinquents in one place.
  14. The problem is we have top 5 money to throw at players, and are at least a top 10 program regarding resources. Given that we agree that “mercenaries” is the new norm, we should be able to expect at least top 10-15 results from this team. So expecting a top 4 seed in the tournament should be a reasonable expectation. But “purgatory” as some others point out is us in as a 7-10 seed, maybe winning a game, and then people defending Woodson because of garbage reasons. I’m not sure if there’s a coach in the country who has been paid as much as he has during his tenure, with the budget he has to buy his players, that has performed this badly. I at least can’t think of one.
  15. Braylon Mullins picked up a crystal ball for UConn.
  16. Maybe don’t read a thread titled “Fire Mike Woodson” if you don’t want to hear opinions about Mike Woodson being a bad college coach.
  17. I believe the point is that he has competitive advantages being at IU that mean his record is buoyed by those resources which further negatively reflects on Woodsons coaching ability. In this day and age where our NIL budget dwarves other B1G programs a .500 record at IU is actually “below average” from a coaching standpoint given the massive resource advantage.
  18. Dan Monson was the first name that came to mind but I’m sure there are others.
  19. Yeah, but my question is about what result should he get fired for? As we’re in the “Fire Mike Woodson” thread it seemed a reasonable question. Personally I think if this team is sniffing the bubble, or we have multiple 15+ point embarrassing losses, then barring a sweet 16 or better run he should be fired. I’d consider “sniffing the bubble” as anything worse than a 7-seed.
  20. Perfect, you answered exactly what I was asking, thanks!
  21. Fair enough, I’ll rephrase: For the people defending Woodson, what should expectations be for the season? What is good enough where he should be our coach for the following year versus what should get him fired?
  22. Find posts defending Woodson? Nah, they’re everywhere, you can find those pretty easily. Not sure why you mention Archie, I don’t care about that guy. Just what people who defend Woodson think success looks like. Copping out by saying you can’t is certainly one way to answer it.
  23. Right, but you could set an expectation there: ”no embarrassing losses and realistically competing for a B1G title late in the season” I’m just curious what the Woodson defenders think. I agree with them that the roster looks better but I think we’ll underperform our talent because we have a mediocre coach.
  24. For the sunshine pumpers: With all of that sunshine you’re pumping, what should expectations for this year? If you’re so confident in our great coach let’s hear what a good year looks like versus what a bad result looks like that should get coach fired.
