  1. I know that earlier in the thread people were commenting we had Peacock's C or D team announcers. However, as the game went on, I thought Austin Rivers showed some promise as a color man.
  2. I thought we would win since Michigan State couldn't shoot, but I didn't realize they lacked talent. We have much better players and depth than they do.
  3. To be fair, give him a couple of years to build his roster.
  4. It is against Michigan State. They are a terrible three-point shooting team.
  5. THIS is the news I come here to read!!!!
  6. I come here after work to get positive news and all I've been reading is why we can't get any top coaches. Just because we've chosen poorly the last 5 hires doesn't mean that we can't get it right this time.
  7. I assume our next coach will have to use the portal his first couple of years. Ultimately, I'd prefer our next coach build the team through high school recruiting and only bring in a portal player as needed. I would prefer the Purdue model of just one portal player in the past three years than what Woodson was doing. Winning is the ultimate goal, but watching the players develop year over year is fun as well.
  8. Until I hear a no from Stevens, he's taking the job.
  9. Maybe Stevens had an NBA Championship bonus in his contract and 11.5 is what he made with the bonus included.
  10. Jackson Hole is just a little over an hour flight to Spokane. Just sayin.
  11. Probably some 14 year old that likes to troll us IU fans.
  12. I love Beard the coach, but there's the allegation that he strangled, bit, and assaulted his fiancée while at Texas. She recanted, but the University of Texas felt there was enough evidence to cut him loose. Maybe we do a background check and find out she embellished the accusation and the decision makers at Texas were simply not willing to take the heat to support him. Even in that situation, Dolson and Whitten would be putting their reputations and jobs on the line if something similar happens at IU. I don't see them taking that chance with other options available.
  13. IU 65 Mich St 62 Michigan State doesn't shoot many threes and doesn't hit a high percentage of threes. I like our chances on the road. Izzo waits one more game to pass Knight.
  14. Good point about the staff. I listened to a little of Dakich last week and he made an interesting point about the quality of Sampson's assistant coaches versus Woodson's assistants. I know most people don't like Dakich, but I thought that point was valid.
  15. Assuming it is someone that is not currently coaching, that would leave Brad Stevens, Jay Wright, Tony Bennett, and John Beilein. Beilein is 72, so probably not him. I could live with any of the 1st three.
  16. Especially when that "little miss" is his wife and agent.
  17. I agree. Make your offer to the top guys and don't worry if they say no. I don't understand why schools panic when their first couple of coaches they pursue say no.
  18. Mike Woodson- my assessment. What went right? The theory that IU's NIL, tradition, and Woodson's NBA pedigree could attract highly ranked recruits had some merit. Hood-Schifino, Reneau, Bates, Mgbako, Tucker, were highly ranked and Cupps and Newton were also sought after recruits. In an age of free agency, players that want to play in the NBA will transfer to play for Woodson because he played and coached in the NBA. Kopp, Ware, Ballo, Rice, and Caryle were high profile portal names that IU was able to bring in. What went wrong? Woodson didn't know the college game and has been slow to adapt. He had the opportunity to get support from Matta or veteran assistants in Hunter and Fife but evidently chose not to. Failure to understand the analytics of the three-point shot on both the offensive and defensive end has cost us in a lot of our losses. Also, that first year, I'm adamant that Woodson did not even know how TV timeouts worked. Woodson had no blueprint or plan. He once said I think I can win with any team just give me talented players and I'll find a way to win with them. Good college programs have a style of play and recruit players that fit that style and system. Poor or lazy recruiting. Hood-Schifino, Cupps, and Newton were actual commits. Reneau, Bates, Mgbako, and Tucker were late pick-ups because their first choices fell through. There's a lot of top 30 players in just a few years, but the pieces don't fit together. Accountability. Until recently, no matter how players played, Woodson would roll out the same lineup to start the game and after the half. This NBA mindset of my starters are my starters doesn't provide the motivation and accountability needed at the college level. Woodson refused to change because he thought he wasn't accountable to anyone since he had friends in high places. Outside of Hood-Schifino, guards have not developed under Woodson. I put this together quickly. Feel free to add ideas that I missed.
  19. A lot of basketball left? Woodson must think it's an 82 game schedule.
  20. Thank you to Banksyrules for starting this thread last year where likeminded fans had a place to come and vent. It took 1 year and 4 days, but mission accomplished!
  21. No on Buzz Williams. Good coach, but too quirky. Very much like Crean in that respect.
  22. Contemplating retirement and now Woodson finishing out the season. Until I hear an official retirement announcement, I'm going to assume this is all PR spin trying to calm the fans. In my opinion, Woodson and Buckner are still pushing to not make a decision until the season ends.
  23. IU has money, UNC still has Blue Blood status.
