Actually, Brad Brownell makes more sense than Turgeon. There are at least 15 candidates that make more sense than Turgeon. Turgeon might be a good guy and a decent coach, but he is in no way a serious candidate for the IU coach position.

Here's your call list- Brad Stevens, Dusty May, Tony Bennett, and if you can't get any of those 3 then McCollum.

I'm glad the announcement was made. If not, I would have been worried that the team would figure it out on their own, make a run and make the tournament and somehow save Woodson's job. The early announcement allows me to root for the team knowing Woodson is gone after the season.

Beard vs Golden I found the recent polling done to be very interesting. The results showed that 66% of the voters would want Todd Golden as their next coach at IU and only 44% would want Beard. Golden was accused of a University Title IX violation for sexually stalking, harassing, and sending unwanted di@k pics to women on social media. The university investigated and said that he did not violate Title IX. Because of privacy reasons around Title IX that is all the University of Florida said. It did not say these things did not happen, just that he did not violate Title IX. The University of Florida took several months to investigate and eventually backed Golden. Beard was accused and arrested for hitting and biting his girlfriend during an argument. Beard said he was defending himself, and his girlfriend at the time claims that was true and she did not think Beard was trying to harm her. Charges were not filed against Beard. The University of Texas was reactionary and suspended and fired Beard rather quickly. I don't think IU would or should hire either one. There are enough good coaches without hiring someone with this type of baggage. I'm just interested why Golden is not being held to the same standards as Beard. Were voters not familiar with the complaints?

After Woodson, most names that people throw out sound good to me.

I think it's picking up steam because some people in the LA sports media and a portion of UCLA fanbase want him out. His negative comments about his team have rubbed some the wrong way. I would be happy with Cronin, but there are others I would choose first.

I'll be angry that Woodson didn't step aside last year so we could have hired Dusty when he was available.

And I also can't see Oats or Pearl leaving their current situations. The established coaches are longshots imo. It doesn't mean you don't ask, but as fans we probably need to temper our expectations. Otzelberger would have a better chance to win an NCAA Championship at IU than at Iowa State, but is it enough for him to leave a comfortable situation? I think we are looking at a May, McCasland, or McCollum unless Dolson pulls a rabbit out of his hat.

I assume that we won't for the reasons you list. I just wondered since we have 4 5th year seniors that may want to keep playing as long as possible.

We still have a chance to sneak into the NCAA Tournament. If we miss the Tournament, do we accept an NIT invite if offered?

I love Gus Johnson on a fun game. He's one of the best! Illinois and Michigan State is a very fun game.

We were hiring Stevens until yesterday when Jeff Goodman kicked us in the nuts with the proclamation Stevens told him he isn't leaving Boston. Many of us were still in the denial stage until Chris suckered punched us with a Brad Brownell rumor he was told. Now, we are so distraught over the thought of Brad Brownell that many of us are contemplating our life choices that led us to being IU basketball fans.

So, Dusty is just his nickname and he's actually Brad May.

I'll throw out another name. Ryan Odom- Career .627 winning percentage. He currently has VA Commonwealth ranked 32nd in Kenpom.

How does it work? I heard we are using a search firm to do background checks. I assume like regular employment we have to get permission from any candidate to do a background check. Do we wait until we are down to our final 1 or 2 candidates to do background checks or do coaches give these firms prior permission to do a background check in case a potential job upgrade becomes available?
