IUBB @ Purdue - Friday, 01.31.25 @ 8:00 on Fox TV

I'm pretty sure we only played Ballo and Reneau together for the first 4 minutes. That helped Ballo become more effective. -

Unless MgBako is tired, he needs to be in there. I don't care how many minutes we promised Tucker when recruiting him. -

Yes. I think he's coming in after the timeout. -

No way Purdue plays as well as they did against Michigan. We keep it close and win. -
Jans was fired from Bowling Green for inappropriate behavior in a bar. IU would be looking elsewhere.

I'd be willing to give the right coach time if you can see incremental improvement and the establishment of a style and culture. However, Mike Woodson is not that guy. Fire Mike Woodson.
-
Fire Mike Woodson! Hire Brad Stevens! It's so simple!

This from Painter is all you need to know about why Purdue is winning and we are not. Compare this to Woodson's "our guys are still getting to know one another" last year.

If you go through position by position, we match up well with Purdue. We definitely have a more talented roster. We hang around and have a chance in the end. -
Big Ten this year is going to be Michigan State, Purdue, and then about 12 teams within a game of .500. IU could go 11-9 in conference and finish 4th or 5th in the conference.
-
I guess this means that we have to expand the NCAA Tournament to 100 teams.
-
I doubt Woodson will be fired and then IU have an open search. I believe that Dolson will need to have a handshake deal with a coach's agent prior to Woodson being fired. Although most of us would be fine with anyone but Woodson, he has his influential supporters that are going to require Dolson to have a "name" coach wrapped up. If he can't get that name, I'm fearful will be stuck with Woodson another year.

Woodson is represented by Creative Arts Association. They will do their best to protect him. CAA will make sure that other of their clients in basketball and broadcasting come to Woodson's defense. I wouldn't be surprised if these "threats" are plants trying to distract from Woodson underperforming with good rosters 4 years straight.

I wish Phinisee had finished his career at IU. I don't think we've had any really good defender at the guard position since he left.
-
I had a horrible thought at work today. In an effort to keep his job, Woodson announces he is only coaching two more years and hiring Pat Knight as an assistant and the head coach in waiting.
-
Any chance the Board and President Whitten would give carte blanche to Dolson to make the decision on Woodson and the potential future coach?

We match up well with Purdue and probably have superior talent. We could win this game if we match their intensity and if Purdue misses a lot of open three-pointers. Because Purdue will have an opportunity to shoot a lot of wide-open threes against our defense. -
I listened to the beginning of the Dakich rant. A quick synopsis. Sounds as if the team doesn't respect Woodson, Ballo tells Woodson to F*** Off in practice, no player shows leadership to challenge Ballo. Woodson doesn't know what he is doing, the team is rarely in a proper defensive stance. Goode must have made a comment about Dakich, because Dakich can't stand him. Buckner and Woodson never really liked Knight and there may be a racial aspect to that. His sources tell him that the only players on the team that are concerned about winning are Goode, Cupps, and possibly Leal. Galloway is more concerned about enjoying his BMOC status than winning games. It's Dakich, so I'm sure tomorrow he'll be saying the fans that want Woodson fired don't know what they are talking about.

I tend to believe the board insiders that say there are internal discussions on how and when to remove Woodson. I have to believe that there are enough influential people that feel like many of us do. However, I'm a pessimist and assume it won't happen until the end of the season, and I am concerned that there's still a chance Woodson will be retained if we finish in the top 6 of the Big Ten. This overriding fear that he will be brought back makes it impossible for me to get excited about any IU victory. Please get rid of him now, so I can root for my team!
-
Why boo Woodson? The way Woodson explains it, the problem is the players not executing his great strategy. :)
-
At one time, Trey was one of my favorite players. He made his decision to support his coach and take the money when a large part of the fanbase knew that Woodson was holding IU Basketball back. Galloway is reaping the financial rewards for supporting Woodson. These players are pros now that make decisions that benefit them financially. Galloway is going to have to take the criticism that goes along with his decision because many feel that he put his own interests ahead of IU basketball.

If Calbert was hesitant to take the interim head coach role before because he didn't want to seem disloyal, I would definitely doubt that he would do it now. Kenya seems like the logical choice now.
