They could expand the football college play off to 50 teams and then people would argue over the 51 and 52 teams that should be in instead of the 49 and 50 teams. Same way with March Madness. Sixth nationally recruiting class is blindly mis-directed/misleading. Teams like UCONN, South Carolina, LSU and several now/some others may have only one or two recruits in class. They are already loaded teams. Therefore, there classes are not rated as high….. And those teams/programs among others (even in big ten….big ten expansion has even made things much tougher) get the best players from transfer portal as well….. SEVERAL physical scorers, shooters, rebounders that can pass, handle the ball and play some defense needed for IU Ladies to play at the level they desire. (This and next year’s class is a solid/good start. However, not quite great but good/solid for sure….see what is built from there). Winning 20 games seasons by scheduling at least 8 low level opponents (should be easy wins) and playing appropriately 30 games is just ok but not that impressive…..especially without any significant tournament run….

Nah, not even close. Maybe make march madness and peak at sweet sixteen and stretch to elite eight. More physical scorers and shot makers needed….and a break from what has become a pattern of player injuries year after year without players for replacement without significant drop in quality of play.

It wasn’t a 30 point blowout but in games like this 50% plus needed on 3 ball. 8 for 25 was aided with game determined and not anything to think about accept shoot the ball without as much pressure.

Being generous Z may have put IU Ladies 5 points closer. More likely would have picked up a couple early fouls and spent most of her time on the bench anyway or the alternative would have been letting Crooks score at will playing as many minutes as needed. That’s why Iowa State is ranked number ten and it takes a top 10 team to beat them. IU Ladies are going to play several ranked teams in big ten.

Things seem to be coming a little easier for Iowa State assisted by a 20% 3 point shooting player that is 2 for 3 on 3 ball. Ciezki needs to out score Crooks which she is doing and Beaumont needs to out score Iowa State 2nd high scorer. And then rest of IU Ladies play even with Iowa State.

Ohio State can look not so good sometimes but has talent to shift into a physical higher overall gear this year and throughout their football history. I think because of attack, and team speed pursuit to the ball on defense with indoor game assists IU (Both, OSU and Michigan during their history get bottled up sometimes especially the older format bowl games…though this was years ago) but IU defensive pursuit to the ball is noticeable this year when it’s clicking….but defense has to limit big downfield pass plays. Then, Mendoza cannot play like he did vs Purdue passing. He needs to have a better game than OSU qb. Maybe, cold weather affected F. M. (terrible passes that OSU will pick off) and indoor stadium will be better. And IU running game continues to improve overall to in the category of borderline eliteness. Turnover/s favorable to IU.

Iowa has two players questionable and Rodriguez out today vs Fairfield. Florida State had leading scorer out vs IU. There are a few teams that can absorb losses to key players. Just need high excellent depth at every position to be a top team.

Guards collapsing and digging on Crooks averages 24 minutes per game (maybe due to blowout wins) and 25 points as Iowa State players average 25 or 26 minutes per game.….IU Ladies whole team will probably be in foul trouble….kick outs for Iowa State 3 ball….run Crooks up and down floor….IU Ladies 3 ball need to keep pace and high fg %….Does Crooks ever get into foul trouble at 24 minutes? Unless IU Ladies win this game this would be a horrible loss equal to pre big ten season losses of last year. Get Makalusky to rebound and hit a couple shots…more aggressive without fouling….but not overly concerned about her fouling.

Iowa has some good wins thus far. Neither, Baylor nor Iowa looked that good when playing each other but both are highly ranked.

Z and Noyan and guards digging and whoever else will give Crooks much attention…see how the fouls go if it is a matchup.

For Makalusky it is now a head game. Her shots spinning out. Just lost and frustrated . What she did today shows that. The good news it’s correctable even during freshman season and she will get stronger as time goes on during her career.
