#1 INDIANA FOOTBALL 2025 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

EVEN AI KNOWS. Miami committed several plays that many observers, including former referees and commentators, believed were uncalled penalties, most notably a potential targeting hit on Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza and holding penalties during a Miami touchdown run. Summary of Uncalled Penalties on Miami Targeting/Personal Foul on QBMiami defensive back Jakobe Thomas delivered a helmet-to-chin hit on Fernando Mendoza in the first quarter after a fake handoff, which left the quarterback with a bloody lip. ESPN rules analyst Bill LeMonnier and former NFL ref Terry McAulay both stated it should have been a targeting call, which would have resulted in Thomas's ejection. Other QB Personal Fouls Indiana coach Curt Cignetti claimed there were three obvious personal foulson Mendoza during a single drive in the first half that went uncalled, including another late hit. Offensive Holding During Mark Fletcher Jr.'s 57-yard rushing touchdown for the Hurricanes, some analysts and fans argued there was a missed holding penalty that helped spring the run. Defensive Holding/Pass Interference Throughout the game, particularly in the fourth quarter, some fans and commentators suggested that Miami's defensive backs were getting away with defensive holding and pass interference against Indiana wide receivers. False Start One social media post alleged a missed false start penalty on Miami's offensive line during a touchdown play. These missed calls were a significant point of controversy and discussion following the national championship game on January 19, 2026. EVEN AI KNOWS… THAT IU HAD TO BEAT BOTH, MIAMI AND THE REFS GIVING MIAMI ADVANTAGE TO KEEP THE GAME AS CLOSE AS IT WAS. INVESTIGATION NEEDS TO BE FOR POSSIBLE BETTING WETHER DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY WITH SO CALLED FRIENDS. -

Maybe, there just might have been more than one play of wizardry including a wizardry defensive play. At any rate IU had to contend with officiating that gave Miami an advantage. The no call on targeting…. Even before targeting rule that definitely was a personal foul plus a few holds and PIs favoring Miami. That really set the tone in Miami’s favor plus giving them confidence and disrupted IU play allowing Miami to stay within striking distance. BOTH TEAMS DISRUPTED EACH OTHER (IU got away with some as well but to a lesser extent as they were letting them play) BUT TOWARDS END OF GAME THE REF REMEMBERS TO THROW THE FLAG WHEN SHARPE TOOK HIS HELMET OFF FOR EXCESSIVE CELEBRATION which is the rule….the refs should have remembered other rules as well and threw the flag maybe a couple times against IU but also 5 or 6 more times against Miami. IU DESERVEDLY WAS ABLE TO PLAY THROUGH THE LOPSIDED OFFICIATING THAT WENT AGAINST THEM. -
LlHoosier, Thanks, for the fun and excellent job…so well done of running the Prediction Thread.

And pounding Miami with the run and it’s sweet beating Miami at some of its own game, THE REFS as Miami getting benefit of no calls against them, creating ways to score, and there is no question who the Heisman winner is, and MVP Ponds in this one, and the all time greatest college football team in the history of college football (at the very least one of the top teams). -

Time for Miami turnover. They haven’t made enough mistakes. -

Time of possession. 18+ minutes to 11+ minutes. IU keep pounding away on offense to open up a couple passes. Miami defense will be huffing and puffing. Refs call some personal fouls. Turnovers? Who? Where is Miami turnover? -

IU pounding Miami defense in first half with run will pay dividends in second half and gets ball in second half to start after a little bit of clock wasted to close out first half. -

Thanks…. I just signed up for one day 24 hour SLING PASS because of your post. I was planning on going to Wings Etc where I watched IU vs Oregon. However, Sling pass has ESPN on my IPhone and I am going to watch the game and listen on fm 93.1 at home. As a 74 year old guy I plan to celebrate this game with the greats; Don Fischer and Buc Shur along with ESPN at home. -

IU Victory vs. Miami: Win over Miami on Miami’s home field. Only football program in history to go 16-0. IU winning over toughest schedule that was presented to them game by game. Arguably, the best football team in college football history. Not arguably the best turn around in all of major sports history. IU is the only college to have both, undefeated seasons in football and basketball. -
