I will still say we didn’t play well against Minnesota, lucky to have won that game. Also, I think When Geronimo was starting, there was more movement and less clogging the lane than Race starting and I think it affected the way Geronimo played as well as the rest of the team. Race should not have started, period. Also, I bet Bates and Galloway’s 3 point percentage at home is significantly higher than on the road, probably 30 points higher. Does someone have that stat? It should be closer than what it is.

I don’t think he earned it back, I think they just gave it back to him because he a very experienced player and they were playing in Minnesota in front of friends and family. I for one don’t agree with it because JG has been starting during this 3 game winning streak and they beat those 3 teams by double digits. His confidence was high and something like this can wreck it and hurt the chemistry on the team. It was clear to me that Race’s mobility wasn’t there and he’s still not 100%. Plus this team didn’t play well prior to his injury and they didn’t play well last night. There wasn’t much energy and focus last night. I can’t help to think it was because Race got inserted into the starting lineup, which may have disrupted the team dynamics and chemistry

I agree too! I think this current starting 5 seems to get off to better starts too!

I don’t know what changes but there has to be something. Maybe a change could be, if it looks like you aren’t playing defense, you sit. Maybe another change is see what Duncomb and/or Leal can do. Maybe actually playing 4 out and 1 in, which would mean substituting Reneau in for TJD and not playing them at the same time. Maybe staying with a 2-2-1 3/4 court token press and falling back into a zone. It’s obvious we can’t guard a statue playing man-to-man. So don’t say there aren’t changes that can’t be made

It looks like mid February for X and Race at the earliest. That will be 10 games they will miss. The season is already spiraling down the toilet, that’s 10 more games this team will most likely lose unless CMW makes some changes that will give this team a better chance to win, and we don’t see him making any changes because Mike Woodson seems too stubborn and stuck in his ways. Only plays certain people and will not will try new lineups or style of play

I think it’s already off the rails, IMO. Injuries are excuses, every team battles them but I really don’t see anyone stepping up like they should. They seem to be in role playing mold and I didn’t see anything that will change my opinion on guys raising their level of play, other than TJD and JHS. I am really sick and tired of Kopp passing up open looks, he hesitates way too much, doesn’t show confidence in shooting and making shots. Bates could be the guy but he hasn’t shown me he can step up against good competition and his D isn’t good at all. Reneau at times is unsure of himself. Geronimo is totally lost on both ends of the floor. Galloway plays hard but sometimes seems to overplay on defense and he doesn’t always look to score. That’s my rant! Oh, one last thing, I would like to see Woodson give Duncomb a try, especially over Geronimo!

IUBB @ Iowa - Thursday, 1/5/23 @ 9:00 on FS1

Reneau being less ugly is an understatement! He still is trying to play like he is up against Morehead St. The guy may as well just hand the ball over to the opposing team, that’s pretty much what he does when he’s been on the floor lately. I think they starting lineup should be TJD, Kopp, Bates, Galloway, and JHS. I read an article stating this has been our best optimum lineup -
I wasn’t sure where to post this so I decided to post it here. Whose brilliant idea for this team to take almost 2 weeks off? I am not thinking of this from a fan’s perspective but from the players perspective. Knowing this teams history and their propensity for coming out complacent after time off is not advantageous for this teams confidence. The best way for this team to build confidence is to play an opponent

Yes he did but what he says and what he actually does could be two different things. I really hope that is not the case and it is more of TJD’s unwillingness to go out of his comfort zone to shoot outside of 5 feet! Something doesn’t add up in Denmark, lol! -

Kennesaw State will win their conference because they defend and can shoot the 3. I told a lot of people that we could lose tho game and your team was there for 35 minutes. Hit your free throws and you will definitely win your conference -

Yes he did but what he says in a presser telling fans what they want to hear and actually playing that way is two different things -

That’s the $1 million dollar question! Maybe CMW actually doesn’t want him to take them from a team standpoint. As we all know, CMW seems pretty stubborn when it comes to changing things up, for example, the starting lineup. We all know, CMW likes to run his offense inside/out but that seems to stifle TJD and plays right into the hands of the opposing teams defense -

I didn’t expect 3 loses, maybe 2 but it was how lost that is alarming! We get off to a poor start, we don’t compete for 40 minutes and the body language wasn’t good in all 3 loses, especially from our veteran players -

I agree with Trayce and Race being more of leaders but if you are part of the problem playing hard and giving effort, then you aren’t looked as a bonafide leaders. Honestly I wouldn’t mind seeing Gunn and Banks. Both have a skill that others may not have. Galloway plays hard, just don’t always produce. He needs to stay in the rotation but Geronimo doesn’t seem to fit into the rotation -
How far away is IUBB from being elite again?

Probably not but CMW needs to change it up. Mix up the rotations a little -

I like Kopp but the guy needs to come off the bench instead of start. Maybe start Bates in his place. The reason I say this, how many wide open looks has he had to start a game like he had tonight in the corner? If he knocks that down, it probably changes the outcome of the start of the game. That maybe said for Race starting too! -

The trend of not starting games well has set in with this team. CMW needs to change the starting lineup in order for us to get off to good starts, even if that means Race and Trayce don’t start! What we have now isn’t working and it didn’t seem to work last year either. We seemed to have the same problem starting games last year too. When you do play on the road, your has to get off to a good start. This team seems to be on their heels to start games and play way too soft! -
I agree with everything you said but Race is the one hurting us the most. He has had only one decent game but most of this year, he has disappeared. Not the same player he was last year, hesitating on taking wide open 3’s is killing us and it’s making it obvious to the opposing team that he has no confidence shooting that shot. Also, the leadership was lacking in this game but overall, this loss is on Woodson. He kept playing the same rotations and combinations and should have tried putting Trayce, Kopp and our 3 best 3 point shooters on the floor. I’m not saying it would have worked, but try it. Having Reneau or Race on the floor with Trayce definitely didn’t work.
