IUBB @ Michigan State - Tuesday, 2/21/23 @ 9:00 on ESPN

Our bench was playing well earlier in the season but over the last several games, especially on the road, our bench has been terrible! JG was playing well up until Race came back. Bates I can’t figure out! Reneau is a freshman -
I still think the B10 tournament is too late, IMO. That maybe only 1 game. He could be ready now but I can see CMW not allowing him to play until Iowa at the earliest just because he wants X to make that grand entrance to receive a standing O. I stand behind my original comment that if he doesn’t come back tomorrow night, there won’t be enough games left for him to get into game shape. He probably won’t make any impact or very little impact because there isn’t enough games left

Calbert, I. Thomas, Scott May, Alford, and A. Henderson with Q. Buckner, R. Whitman, TJD, J. Jeffries, and M. Woodson as Honorable Mention but so many more could make that list. D. Bailey, T. Kitchel, Yogi Ferrell, DJ White, Eric Gordon, J. Thomas, Kent Benson, Bobby Wilkerson, Butch Carter etc……

I know this probably doesn’t go here but it was reported just before the Illinois game that X is close to returning. Has anyone heard when he exactly will return. I think if he returns on Tuesday then there is a chance he’ll get in ok game shape by the 1st round of the NCAA tournament but if it is any longer than that, then it probably won’t do much good to even bring him back, except to disrupt our team chemistry. Thoughts?

But we do have the best overall player in the conference and if our bench can start providing the depth that we need and one other player start adding additional scoring each game, we could go on a nice run! Those are big if’s but it must start now! Kopp finally scored in double figures today but Kopp, Galloway, Bates and Geronimo have been so inconsistent on the offensive end. We need at least one of them to start scoring more consistently and it starts by quit being hesitant to shoot the darn ball. Take the first open look and quit shot faking

Our bench is going to cost us a game either in the B10 tournament or NCAA tournament if they don’t get their head out of their rear and start stepping up! I think Banks is only going to play a few minutes a game, he needs to put on some more weight, at least 10-15 lbs. JHS is a gamer and we wouldn’t have as many B10 wins without him. He’s gained a lot of experience with X out but I am hopping his experience will carry him well come tourney time and hopefully X’s return will help too. Enjoy him now because if he is projected as a lottery pick, he’ll be gone.

I 100% agree! He’s pushes way too much, goes over the back, and fouls while guarding 1 on 1

That’s typical Turdue fans, have excuses but the actual reason why they lost! It’s always someone else’s fault!

I’ve been telling people all along, you can’t win in the NCAA tournament with freshman guard play. Teams will figure out how to defense them and that started with IU and now NW expanded on that and now the blueprint has been established. Purdue isn’t as good as there ranking. It’s easy for their guards to throw it down to a 7-4 giant but once teams figure out how to defend him and pressure those two freshman guards, Purdue doesn’t have the same supporting cast to pick up the slack

I know Purdue is good and deserving to be ranked #1 and will be a tough matchup for any team because of Edey but we should never storm the court for any B10, especially Purdue. By doing that, you paid them the ultimate compliment and that should never happen to our most fiercest B10 and state rival. I personally don’t think we should storm the court ever because of that crowd that packs Assembly Hall and those 5 Championship Banners and it doesn’t matter how long it’s been since our last one

Well I was wondering where to put this and now that someone has brought up Geronimo’s injury I will bring this up. I know teams go through injuries but this year and years past, we seem to have our share of injuries and then some. As far as I know, Purdue has had only 1 player injured that missed games and we have had 5 and all the players either start or have started this year. Could it be possible that Cliff Marshall could have a hand in it this? It just seems like since he arrived under Archie Miller, we have had a lot of injuries. He was a football trainer and basketball uses different muscles, endurance and agility. Thoughts?

Race just needs to play spot minutes. You can tell he has lost mobility and he doesn’t jump as well since his knee injury. I think he’s a liability on D and his offense isn’t good either. He doesn’t need to start and he should only play about 10 minutes a game. I bet you would get more out of Duncomb

I think Kopp tries to play hard for the most part. The thing that bugs me about him is he is supposed to a good 3 point shooter but doesn’t seem to shot them when he has a catch and shot opportunity. He always has to shot fake and he rarely his them after the shot fake or he doesn’t take the shot. There was several times last night he had a catch and shot opportunity but a guy flew at him and he done that stupid fake. Usually a guy that is flying at him is about 3 or 4 inches shorter than him, take the first shot. When he catches and shoots on a break he usually hits. Quit shot faking and go up with the shot

I hope we beat them, but they are good. They have a deep bench too. The only thing we have over them is experience. They seem to rely heavily on freshman guards too, I know we have one too but they have 2 starting guards that are freshman. Wouldn’t it be embarrassing enough for them to lose to a team ranked 25th?
