IU Mens/Womens Swimming and Diving

Another big time transfer coming in for the guys. https://t.co/dycKSyGo7z -
I didn’t listen to the Rabby episode, but the Tom Crean one was really good. I think Crean is a really good interview.

That sounds like an awesome addition. Does anyone know much about the beach to indoor transition?

It seems like these Hafnaoui stories aren’t going away and are somehow getting stranger. https://swimswam.com/defending-400-freestyle-olympic-champion-ahmed-hafnaoui-will-miss-paris-olympics/ -

I thought I liked bringing in 1 big time transfer. Turns out getting 2 in the same year is even better. -

You have to love bringing in a big time transfer. This is the second (to Zach Apple) that I can remember recently. -

It seems like they haven’t had a great offseason. I wonder if they thought they had some transfers lined up. I heard so much about how young their biggest contributors were and how great their future looked that I kept forgetting they were at the bottom of the B10. -
I think that would put him, his brother, and hid brother’s girlfriend all in Indy next year.

I think we’re in the minority but I agree. XJ clearly brought something to the team that no one else did. Him being hurt and out of control hurt, and he isn’t a guy that can bounce back right away without missing a step. The staff clearly expected Banks and/or Gunn to make a big step. Woodson said in a few interviews that he told him they couldn’t wait and they needed to make a step. MM started the season behind where we expected. He caught on defensively and started to be a threat driving to the basket, but it all happened a little too late. Cupps was similar to MM. Early he seemed almost scared to shoot. With XJ being out he kind of got thrown into things sooner than expected. -

If it comes out that Cal is interested in Arkansas tomorrow a lot of UK fans may end up having a total eclipse of the heart. -

RTD (ready to drink) cocktails and hard ciders have gotten fairly popular. I think seltzers and most liquor would be ok, but whiskey is probably out since they can use wheat. There are some gluten free beer options out there that could work, too. -

That’s good company to be competing with. If anyone happens to see this that doesn’t really follow swimming it is worth paying attention to Leon Marchand from ASU. He may be the closest thing we see to Phelps. They even have the same coach. This may end up being one of the fastest SCY meets ever. -

I thought this was interesting and hasn’t been brought up. He will have a strong start in recruiting - every new coach does - but I’m not sure this strategy is going to pay off if he isn’t winning really quick. -

Sounds like they had a solid afternoon. Peplowski ended up 2nd and McKenna 6th. The team is in 7th. Anyone know where they were projected to finish? The 5-10 range seems right to me but I’m not sure. -

I think I know what account you’re talking about. I have no idea what it is but they seem to have been right about pretty much every claim they’ve made. -

Any idea of IU has reached out to anyone? I’d think the staff could target some specific needs and go after a few players pretty aggressively. -

Mocked his cadence? I may have missed something but he was just “walked” out. It happens every time someone fouls out or gets ejected. Some people need to just relax and make some attempt to be rational. -

The non answers are what really confuse me. People transfer and change training groups regularly. I don’t understand why neither side has said he’s stepping away from college to focus on LCM or something generic. -

This situation is strange. I assume he is done at IU, but wearing the full gear is a different choice. Edit to clarify that Braden is with SwimSwam which is one of the biggest swimming news sites there is. -

Is this just a professional way to say the meeting was about ignoring trolls on social media even if they happened to play at IU, make some impressive defensive claims, and spent some time coaching? -

Men off to a great start. The Big Ten championships started tonight with 2 relays. IU had 2 wins. -

You just can’t help but laugh at the idea of the fans getting blamed while the same fans keep lining up to support the women’s team. -

That is wild that the top 2 teams each had a relay win that got DQ’d for an early takeoff.
