  1. Clogging the lane is now an IU tradition. We're stuck with it.
  2. IU is going to score some points today. It looks like IU and NC State will pull away from Texas in the battle for 4th place. 400 IM: IU has no one, NC State has the 16th seed 100 fly: Frankel (2nd), Brooks (16). NC State will score big points in this event with 2 swimmers in the A final and another 2 in the B final. 200 free: Miroslaw (6th). NC State has no one. 100 breast: Matheny (8th), Yep (14th). NC State has no one. 100 back: Burns (7th). I expect Burns to place much better than his seed, possibly win although Lasco (Cal) has been on fire this meet and is the top seed after prelims. NC State also has a swimmer in the A final and one in the B final. The divers could again score big points but those prelims have not yet finished. So that is 4 A finals for IU with 2 B finals. NC State has 3 A finalists along with 4 in the B finals. Texas has only 1 swimmer in an A final and 2 in B finals. https://swimswam.com/2024-mens-division-i-ncaa-championships-day-3-prelims-live-recap/ Edit: After diving prelims are finished, IU has 3 divers moving on to the evening. Henninger (2nd), Tyler (3rd), and Weinrich (13th). NC State has none and Texas has 2 (9th and 15th).
  3. That was only 5 years ago? It seems longer than that. Man, IU has been bad for so long.
  4. The "NIL thing" isn't something that the NCAA dreamed up. It was forced on them by trying to hold on to the "amateur" model too long and hard then losing in court. They didn't have a choice and have been powerless to stop it. If they had had to foresight to actually dream it up, it might not have gotten to what it has.
  5. So you are of the position that a roster with 6 open scholarships isn't as good as one with 1 open scholarship? I guess I agree with that.
  6. The top times have been insanely fast and Marchand has already broken 2 NCAA records. 1:28. 200 free (as lead off in the 800 free relay) and a 4:02. 500 free. 1st person under 1:29 in the 200 and the 500 record he broke was his own (set not long ago) which was 4:06. He didn't start swimming the 500 free competitively very often until recently. He basically chooses which events he wants to win at the championship meets. Insanity. Lots of other records NCAA/US Open/American/meet/pool records are being broken. This event is in the IU Natatorium which already has fast times so breaking the pool records there isn't easy. I think every final has had a record of some sort up to this point. So very fast.
  7. Miroslaw added 2 seconds to his prelims time and ended up 14th in the 500 free. Barr finished 10th in the 200 IM. Henninger and Carson really helped the team by finishing 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in 1m diving. That is 33 points right there. 200 free relay finished 11th, up from their 16th seed. IU is in 4th place after day 2. Before diving and the relay, they were in 6th place so those two events really helped, especially the diving. They are 1 point up on Texas. This wasn't expected to be a big one for IU, the next 2 days should see more scoring from the swimmers. https://swimswam.com/2024-mens-division-i-ncaa-championships-day-2-finals-live-recap/ It looks like IU, Texas, and NC State are battling for 4th place. On the day, IU was +17 in points scored compared to seeds entering the meet. https://swimswam.com/2024-ncaa-mens-championships-day-2-scoring-analysis/
  8. I scrolled through and saw this gem. Worth a watch. DD is a loser.
  9. For the system that Woodson has run the last 3 years and we'll probably see again next year, I think Tucker is a better fit. Liam will really thrive in a system that works to create 3-point shots. Basically, the opposite of IU.
  10. Is this one of those "silent verbals" that have worked out so well for IU in the past?
  11. Not a lot of swimming points will be scored today for IU. Rafael Miroslaw (500 free, 12th) and Luke Barr (200 IM, 14th) qualified to swim in the evening. The divers could score some points, though. https://swimswam.com/2024-mens-division-i-ncaa-championships-day-2-prelims-live-recap/
  12. That means 100% of the crystal ball picks point to UI. It says committed if he has done so.
  13. Even with the historically bad football team, IU's basketball team should be good enough to keep the school off of these types of lists. A new coach would probably help. https://collegefootballnews.com/rankings/worst-college-football-basketball-schools-13-to-20-indiana-army-umass-2024
  14. He'd probably be scared away anyways by Galloway and Cupps returning.
  15. After an insanely fast day 1 at the NCAA championships, IU men are in 4th place with 52 points after finishing 6th in both the 200 medley and 800 free relays. https://swimswam.com/2024-mens-division-i-ncaa-championships-day-1-finals-live-recap/ IU is +4 points from seed. They were the 8th seed in the 800 free relay and got 6th. So far, so good. https://swimswam.com/2024-ncaa-mens-championships-day-1-scoring-analysis-texas-starts-with-a-bang/
  16. Never said. Thought that even divulging what level he played at would give away his identity. lol Very inflated sense of importance.
  17. Dang, we missed out on Foster and you, back-to-back. Tough day to be a fan.
  18. I thought when he was here that NGW was hired by Woodson, his agent, or someone invested in Woodson being IU's coach to go on message boards and social media to talk him up. I still haven't changed my mind on that.
  19. This makes me sad. I was looking forward to it.
  20. Where are the promised staff changes? I don't remember who said that, but I think it was NGW.
  21. IU has so far landed 0 players from the portal despite supposedly already having interest from some players before the season even ended and having a ton of money to spend. His explanation (excuse) is that IU will just have to "choose wisely," ignoring that they have 1/2 a team worth of scholarships to fill. At this point, IU doesn't have to be picky.
  22. Built in excuse. 25 games into the season he can use the "it's a new team" excuse after another loss.
