I expect Kansas. No inside info, I just am not that optimistic about IU's recruiting against schools like Kansas, Duke, and UK. Hell, UT just beat us out for 2 recruits. Less disappointment expecting Kansas but that much happier if it's IU.

I doubt Mgbako even considered the closing date of the transfer portal when setting a commitment date. And I doubt either of the coaching staffs recommended he do it after the closing of the transfer portal. It's probably just a coincidence.

Not only was it that not a secret but it wasn't a secret that they're looking for starters and/or high minute players for those positions. Not just filling them with anyone that could play the position.

That's what I thought, as well, but I also saw that there was some deadline for grad transfers entering the portal that was on May 1. Do you know what that deadline was? Is it that recent grads can transfer at any time but students that were already grad students had the May 1 deadline? It's clear as mud to me.

If that was the case, why do we know the names of players? Yes, the fans are fans of the school but the players are who they watch. Bring in a bunch of nobodies who can't play and see how long fans stay around. IU fans have been more persistent than most but I have definitely seen a decline in fan enthusiasm in the last 25 years or so. Under Miller, fan enthusiasm really took a dive. Lots of losing because of bad coaching and teams that didn't have much talent outside of 1 or 2 players. Basketball is actually the product, not the school name. Without the players you don't have that.

I would also add that the players are the product. It's not the same as employees helping make or sell widgets for a company.
