I doubt he'll ever score an IU TD.
-
2 or 3 doesn't matter. Unless he's transferring as a grad he'll, probably need to sit a year.
-
I'm not watching that game but I take it NW is getting homered at home?

IU has a large fanbase. The problem is we're used to the football team being bad and the administration not seeming to care. If they start winning, and doing it consistently, I think you'll see the NIL dollars increase. If they start winning big like the big schools do? Well, I think IU can compete. A lot of ifs in there (and big ones at that) but winning changes a lot things, including how much money fans are willing to part with.

Yep, he talks the talk now he'll need to walk the walk. Past results indicate he should be able to do that. As for the last sentence, I agree. This team could have gotten 6 wins this year. Looks possible next year, too.
-
The IU football mindset, maybe? "We're IU football, we can't beat that team."
-
The more I see about this guy the more this hire actually has me excited about the future of IU football. I'm going to be so disappointed if IUFB continues to IUFB.

What IU's recruits think of the hire. https://247sports.com/college/indiana/article/indiana-football-curt-cignetti-hired-recruits-talk-hoosiers-221872939/ I don't pay attention to football recruiting but looking at the offer lists of more than a few of them didn't have any other P5 schools it. A couple of others had maybe 1 other P5 school. That's not great. I did notice there were a few that had been recruited by JMU, so Cignetti will already be familiar with them.

Thanks for posting those. They were good reads.

This is why I'm not worried that he hasn't be a HC at a P5 school before. He learned what it takes from the best in the business. I'm guessing we won't hear that IU practices are like a joke from HS anymore. From the IndyStar article: “What I learned from (Alabama's) Nick (Saban) was really how to run a ‘gram,” Cignetti said to pff.com. “The organization and leadership standpoint, the way he treated his day in season, the way we practiced, the way recruiting was organized. The way he led staff and players and the way he led the message he crafted. It was sort of a doctoral program on how to be a head coach.” That article also talks about he isn't set in his ways and will adjust as needed to get the most from what he has. Some of his teams depended more on defense, others on offense, while others were more balanced. Sometimes the offense was pass heavy, other times run heavy. It's not always the same thing but he makes it what it needs to be in order to win rather than trying to force something that doesn't work.

Maryland vs Indiana - Game Thread, Fri., 12/1 @ 7 BTN

DSH is an athlete but wasn't thought of as a good shooter in HS. I also remember IU recruiting Kaiser as a shooter. -
1/5th of the available NIL is pretty steep for 1 player that is only "ok." I saw he was getting offers in the $400k-$600k range and that IU has $3M available.

I wonder why. Injury or under the weather? in the doghouse? Matchup issue with that team? 12 points and 4 assists in 18 minutes isn't bad. -
IU had more than $25M in profit last year so they have the money. The question is whether they're willing to consistently spend it, which they haven't been in the past.
-
No, it does not. I don't think the portal is officially open yet so I'm wondering if they're all in the portal or have just stated their intention to enter. I also wonder if that is a distinction without a difference.
-
I'm pretty sure Woodson didn't have much to do with this hire.
-
No, but they've also not been very good historically. Not IU level bad but not very good with an all time winning percentage of 49%.
-
Oh great, Duke is involved. We're already lost. No way we can compete against Duke. Oh, wait. This is football. As long as IU is willing to spend money, we shouldn't lose a HC candidate to Duke.

Look at all these dads making jokes. Ignore @Stuhoo and his stuBoo, keep 'em coming.

(C) Kel 'el Ware - COMMITTED TO INDIANA
go iu bb replied to Chris007's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Nothing is going to change for Edey. He wouldn't have been drafted last year, he won't be drafted this year, and, if he comes back for his COVID year (I think he will), he won't be drafted after next year. He just isn't what NBA teams want to use a draft pick on. -
Not just recruiting experience and connections but has seen first hand how a P5 program needs to be run. I doubt his practices would be compared to HS practices.
-
Why? Care to elaborate?
-
To get to a bowl every year it just had to win their 3 cupcake games and win 33% of their conference games. That's it
-
Syracuse isn't exactly a great football school. Better than IU because everyone is, but certainly not someone IU should be emulating.
-
His last 4 years were IU level bad. The 1 good year in there was a fluke year just like IU's. It looks like he wasn't able to keep up with the changes in college football so there's no reason to think that would change at IU. This, of course, is in addition to what got him fired from Northwestern.
