  1. A few years ago, there was a proposed rule change that would allow undrafted players to retain NCAA eligibility. I don't think it's been voted on yet and didn't pass if they did. That's probably what people are talking about.
  2. He's a 6th year player who has started all 45 games he's played at IU. The injury was a broken bone so there is no reason to think he won't recover completely, especially almost a year after the injury occurred. His competition is a freshman who, while a 4* recruit, was not in the top 100 and is more of a pass first type player. If I was a betting man, I'd put big money on Johnson starting. I think Cupps will give IU some quality backup minutes this year but he'd have to drastically outperform Johnson to take his starting spot. He also needs to add weight even though he's already strong.
  3. Apparently they were the only team willing to give TJD a 1 year contract rather than a two-way contract. https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/columnists/gregg-doyel/2023/06/23/iu-star-trayce-jackson-davis-said-no-to-pacers-not-other-way-around/70348734007/?fbclid=IwAR1Tfjl-yyuN2wQPcZ4l7H3Hl9KuYSYMXvRZNdLUxQopCJ5hwWlOXc4qdYc
  4. Didn't Miller recruit him?
  5. TJD taken with the 57th pick by the Wizards. He's have been better off going undrafted than be picked by that team. Edit: check that. He's going to Golden State. That might be a good spot for him.
  6. JHS picked 17th by the Lakers.
  7. Did he take a junior year OV to IU or just a bunch of UV for games? I know he's been on campus multiple times. I'm glad the coaching staff isn't like some of the fans and just give up as soon as Fine shows interest. :)
  8. He probably thinks he is.
  9. He's also not afraid to play dirty if it looks like he's getting beat.
  10. I wouldn't worry about it at all.
  11. Basically just says what we already knew that IU reached out to Johnson but also talks about his play style. https://hoosierillustrated.com/indiana-basketball-among-programs-that-reached-out-to-kansas-decommit-chris-johnson/?fbclid=IwAR0eBrg1t39dOSP5-d7RwKG3PGClaNj9uNsYGPQilbsnX61iZS6DtZQgUDo
  12. That plus the fact that most schools require people to take a certain number of credits at their institution before they can graduate from there. This number is usually around 60 credit hours (4 semester of full time). He has only been at UK for 1 year.
  13. Those 5 are my ideal but totally unrealistic recruiting class as well. On paper, that would be IU's best recruiting class ever. Possibly the best ever period with 5 top 10 players. Duke and UK have pulled off some amazing classes but I don't know if they've ever landed 1/2 of the top 10 in a single class.
  14. I've transferred credits before and you don't need the old school to send anything. You get a copy of your transcript and give it to the new school. The new school might then need to check if the classes are the same or close enough to what they offer but a lot of that info they already know and/or the system is automated because most classes were approved quickly. I very much doubt that UK is refusing to give out the information needed for ISU to decide whether or not the transfer credits count.
  15. He's been in school for 4 years so next year he'll be 22-23 years old. Apparently he doesn't want to babysit a bunch of 18-19 year olds.
  16. Yeah, they can at their own institution. Cal can't do anything about Reeves taking classes at ISU. To transfer credits, all he needs is a transcript. Again, he can't stop Reeves if Reeves graduated from ISU and wants to transfer. As far as Shannon is concerned, I don't think the school itself did anything to stop him from taking classes he needed. I think the coach refused to let him use scholarship money to pay for them. That's really the only control coaches have now.
  17. I dislike Calipari but he can't "hold Reeves hostage." It wouldn't even make sense from a winning POV since Reeves would resent him if he did so which I can't imagine would be good for the team. Schools require a certain amount of credit hours to be taken at that institution for someone to be eligible to graduate with a degree from that school. This is typically around 60 credit hours, i.e. 4 semesters of full time attendance. Reeves has been at UK for 1 year so it's unlikely he had enough credit hours at UK to receive a degree from UK. There's nothing Cal can do about this. It's been reported that he's taking summer classes at his previous school, ISU. If so, thus makes sense for him wanting to transfer. He probably transferred his UK credits to ISU and is finishing up whichever classes he needs to graduate from ISU. He could then enter the portal as a great transfer. That's not too stay that is what he'll do, but it looks like at very least he's making that an option for himself.
  18. I'm torn on this. It's nice that kids want to be recruited by IU. It's not nice being grouped in with Northwestern and Cal.
  19. Fair enough but I wasn't talking about just this instance. This is just the most recent time IU has given this guy a lot of attention but there have been plenty more.
  20. If he doesn't choose IU, it won't be because IU didn't try. I feel good about IU's chances.
  21. To add to this, before his injury he was 247 composite top 75, with a lot of time ranked in the 60s. As of January, he was 71st. When the ranking were updated 2 months later, he was in the 100s and finished at 114.
  22. It sounds like it might be a while before we find out if Reeves plans to transfer or not. He's taking summer classes needed to graduate but some think that he will transfer. The classes he's taking are through ISU so it seems like he's intent on graduating soon since he wouldn't have enough UK credits to graduate there. https://www.on3.com/college/kentucky-wildcats/news/kentucky-insider-shares-latest-on-status-of-antonio-reeves/
