True. That's why he'll get at least one more year.

It's ridiculous how terrible that contact was for IU. It was such an overreaction. Allen isn't the only one who should be fired. To answer your question, IU waits. What's another losing season at IU, after all? When they eventually get rid of Allen, they'll look for his replacement on the cheap. Likely won't even do a real search, just the usual half-a$$ed search.

IUFB vs #3 OSU -- 9/2/2023 at 3:30est on CBS

Allen decided to use today as a big recruiting day. There were supposed to be a number of big recruits at the game. Think they were impressed? -
TJD and Thompson are probably in town to watch TJD's brother. I'm sure they'll help with the visits but I don't think that's the motivation to be there.

(2024) - PG Boogie Fland to Kentucky

I saw on HSN that IU is thought to be in the top tier at this time to land Fland along with Kentucky and UConn. -

Before it was a good thing to get a junior year OV. Now it's probably something to avoid since it will usually be long past by the time he's making a decision. Fans fret when players take another visit (OV or not, but especially OV) to another school after them before a decision is made. Think of having a full year of those visits. -

Yeah, I'm not really sure what they'll sell by getting smacked around against OSU. I also doubt having a stadium with a ton of the opposing team's fans there will be a positive look. It is IU football, though, and Tom Allen is the coach so I guess I'm not surprised. -

https://bustingbrackets.com/2023/08/30/ncaa-basketball-top-25-impact-true-freshmen-entering-2023-24-season/ MM is #5 on this list just which is tops in the B1G. At #6 is Deshawn Harris-Smith and it talks about him hitting from outside. It's been a while but I thought he was more of a really athletic slasher type? Am I remembering incorrectly (or possibly confusing him with someone else), is the writer wrong, or has his shot improved? -

That's what I heard the first time but I certainly wouldn't say he clearly says that. He says it pretty quickly and I can definitely hear how some people would think he said 6'6". The confusion is from him not saying it clearly. -

That would be great but I think he takes all the visits. I hope IU sits well enough that the Kansas and Texas visits would have to be exceptionally great to pull him away from IU. Kansas is Kansas so you can't completely rule them out but I think they're on the outside looking in. I think it's more between IU and Texas with IU in a stronger position right now. -

I wonder if having the name Dylan already taken on the team will make Harper go somewhere else. /grasping_at_straws -

I heard 6'8" but it could easily be heard as 6'6". -
At this point, why would any respectable coach waste time on him?

I think there was pressure from DV survivors who were not pleased that he received such light punishment. I can't blame them, especially since it sounds like it was a vicious incident. It probably shouldn't have been plead down to a couple of misdemeanors. He slapped the lady, punched her multiple times, and smothered her with a pillow. He was initially charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, strangulation, unlawful restraint, and false imprisonment. I'm just surprised this didn't happen sooner and it's not a good look for Capel letting him stay on the team in the first place. It just took the school longer than it should have to do the right thing. Capel thought winning was more important. I don't feel sorry for him as I think it was deserved and that he should've gotten a stronger legal punishment. He totally exploded over being upset about getting his phone and himself wet. Such a violent reaction to something so trivial is no joke. This is likely not the first time and probably won't be the last time.

I can't blame the school, that attack sounds pretty vicious.

(2024) PF - Derik Queen to Maryland

It uses machine learning so I'm not surprised the employees don't understand it. Looking at the list makes me even more skeptical though. Asa Newell: IU 25%, Georgia 16% => I really doubt IU is in the lead for him. They obviously have a chance but I don't think he chooses IU. At best those percentages are probably reversed. Liam McNeely: Texas 52%, IU 30% => Even if Texas leads (which I don't think they do), I don't think the difference is that much. I know he's from Texas but his HS choice shows he isn't opposed to playing far from home. Again, it would make more sense if they were reversed. Those are just some IU targets that have questionable predictions like Queen's. -
I agree on Galloway and have had similar concerns about his playing style leading to injuries in the past. I doubt Newton will play much this year. His injury was a joint injury and has had setbacks with recovery. Freshmen tend to have an adjustment period to the college game and that injury probably sets back his timeframe for acclimation. That's assuming he's even recovered enough to play in the first place. He would also have to overcome rust from not playing much his senior year. As far as the guard situation, I see basically 3 players who can play the PG position. For the other position, I look at that as just a wing position meaning that in many situations using players that are considered a "3" would work if needed.

https://www.on3.com/db/derik-queen-34919/recruiting/122883/rpm/ ~63% chance Queen chooses IU according to on3's predictive algorithm (RPM). I'm pretty skeptical of its accuracy unless anyone has some numbers to show it's reliable. I think IU has a good chance at landing him, but I'm not convinced this algorithm can predict that. -
I can understand the concern but Johnson's season ending injury was just a broken bone instead of a ligament or tendon injury. So there isn't any reason to think that he won't be fully recovered, will have the same injury again, or have a similar injury.
-
He's Australian and didn't play last season so no college stats to see.

Hahaha. Seriously, though, I wouldn't be surprised if IU has 4 road games on the west coast and home games against OSU, UM, PSU, and Wisconsin. Or maybe IU will have 5 road games and one of those last 4 will be on the road. -
