They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
go iu bb replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
It seems like there are a couple of coach's PR people on this board. Woodson seems to have 1 and Facial Hair seems to have (had? did he get the ban hammer?) 1 as well. -

Smoking cigars and drinking wine in his man cave with a few friends. -
Probably the best they could do. It's rough when your big name HC takes a demotion to OC just to get away from the job.

Some teams have tons of assistant coaches that aren't on the bench for games. Those are probably the salaries for those kind of positions. -

From what I remember, Miller and company were recruiting him (at least watching his games and getting visits) but never actually offered. Did they offer? -

Has any coach actually said that or is it purely speculation on your part? I'm guessing it's the latter. -

The coaches that would be scared off by the firing of coaches who don't win at IU are the coaches who don't believe they can win at IU. I'm not sure we'd want them anyways. -
I remember that game. It was in Penn State's old "arena" (being generous calling it that) that was teeny tiny. I was very surprised when IU struggled so much to beat them that game because PSU wasn't very good.

It's a new team

I can guarantee that he won't go 0-14 next year. 0-12 maybe but definitely not 0-14. -

Jeez, that's rough. At least he should have his doctorate by the time he's done.

2024 PG Daquan Davis to Florida State
go iu bb replied to Gnet550's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
What I like about this coaching staff is their decisiveness when it comes to recruiting. It really gives the impression they know exactly what they're looking for. -
He has eligibility left? It's too late in the year to get a medical redshirt for this season unless this happened awhile ago and they're just now announcing it.
-
I would expect very little from Newton next year. It'll be so much time since he last played regularly plus the fact that it's a knee injury that kept getting reinjured. Not a good combination for making an immediate impact when playing again, possibly bad enough that he could never get to the level of an impact player.

I think @Class of '66 Old Fart said he'd ban anyone who mentions him. There's this other guy, though, Stad Brevens, who would probably be a great hire.

(2024) PF - Derik Queen to Maryland
go iu bb replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
With Flory coming in, Kansas still doesn't make any sense. If it's not IU (I'm guessing that is looking more and more unlikely) or Maryland then it'll be Houston. -
Some posts are so amazingly bad that I just can't help but to reply to it. This is one of them. So you're saying he can't use the "I was drunk" excuse like it's somehow better? It's actually worse. That says he can't control himself even when sober.
-
Yeah, all the Shrews love doesn't make sense to me. His resume is pretty unimpressive.

This is just a placeholder for next flavor of the month which we'll probably find out about next month. Last March and early this season it was May many people were calling for. That has died down a bit and now it's Schertz. Let's not forget that before them it was Michael Lewis. Before him it was someone else. Next month it'll probably be someone new. Both have solid resumes at their respective levels but both are risks.

He hasn't lost one yet, either!
