This is so silly, I'm not going to debate your pointedly self-serving selective game picks. He was either our most or one of our most productive players for multiple games despite Woodson having zero perimeter schemes for outside shooting or otherwise any outside offense. Yeah, he's a McD's player but you're right, he's terrible. Sorry I'm not interested in your engaging in your continuing player bashing. We are a terrible team because of Woodson, that's the root cause with no perimeter schemes and dysfunction has reared its head a few times now. IF -- IF -- guys like Bako can learn from riding the bench and then come back and play hard and bring the kind of focus and production they did earlier, then we're absolutely a better team. A team led by players who would be on the bench anywhere else goes nowhere. I like Leal, absolutely love his effort level and general court awareness over the past few. But starting player? Here under Woodson, seems like it. Going anywhere into March? Nope. But I'm done with this discussion, have your "garbage" take on our players and run with it.

Oh I would be shocked if he doesn’t transfer— but then if we land the right coach and he sits down with Bako with a plan, including an actual perimeter game, maybe he stays. Dude didn’t become a McD’s All American player by being just ok, and he’s shown hos ability to score — but there is literally no perimeter game under Woodson, no wing actions, no sets. Perimeter / wing players cannot thrive under Woodson, but they could under a coach with an actual outside offense

I’m sorry too, and disagree. In multiple games he led scoring and played hard. He’s not a good defender, but he has “competed” defensively. It’s easy to sit back and take pot shots at players - funny how many said Goode wasn’t good, until more recently when he found his stride. Fans…. Leal has been much better, but he has slipped in on lack of scouting and no, we’re not better if Leal is our offense. We need our most productive players to play hard and well.

I'm just not down at all with the Bako hate lately. Yes he has not played well lately and his D was completely absent, but he was easily our best scorer / offensive player for multiple games and was playing very well earlier, and the absence of his offense does not help our chances to get into March. I would bet his play lately is at least in part a reflection of the disfunction within the team due to the terrible coaching and stupidity of the worst coach to ever coach an IU team. Dude is a McD's All American, a terrific scorer. I would hope he learned from riding the bench, watching less talented players give it their all with hustle and tenacity to slap PU into the ground. If he can get back to playing with intensity he adds a significant piece to getting into the tourney and maybe making just a little noise before we, thankfully, see Woodson fully retired.

General Coach Candidate News
HoosierHoopster replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Don't know if someone already responded. It quotes Sam Story from way back when, I think before his actual name was revealed. He was in the Chicago area at the time, don't know if he's still there, he posted on boards under a handle, as an 'insider' type, he would share info he'd heard from time to time. I no longer recall what recruit it related to. It has lived on, in infamy, as one of the funniest kind of coy insider - type info-reveals ever. (Sam is a good guy , I used to trade pm's with him way back when I was a mod.) -

Coaches move, I don’t see the basis for angst, now we want a first time great coach? This just isn’t a factor for me, and Drew would be returning to IN where he’s from fwiw -

Same, I've been thinking it's likely no one being talked about -- I'm still hoping for Otz but if it's Drew that would be a really good land -

IIRC he was the one who threatened to get I think it was Hanner (?) deported during his recruitment. That's hazy for me, I could be mistaken, but I think it was him - someone will correct me if it wasn't or was another recruit -
