  1. ITH has some highlights, Bates ran out of time in the 3-pt contest. He’s going to score a lot of points and i’d bank on him starting at at some point. Parker’s shot is smoother than i realized.
  2. How strange, why no scrimmage, i mean, that is always what HH - midnight madness has been about
  3. Berger is a next level player. She’s awesome
  4. Will be fun to see, Bates is a killer shooter, we all know Kopp drills 3’s, that’s his thing, Leal came to IU as a shooter and this is of course without defenders. if Parker can beat them out that would bode well for our outside depth
  5. Same, Geronimo is going to crush it. I'm most interested in the 3-point contest -- Bates, Leal, Kopp, Stewart, should be good
  6. A very frank interview, no wishy washy answers, answered the questions asked (obviously no future in politics vbg), and his expectations are clear. Nice
  7. Yogi be like - but, but my name is in your handle!
  8. Is it too late for me to start singing classical? :)
  9. I don't see the basketball player tuition in that article (lists football players etc., how about that golf tuition?) but sounds about right, though would bet they get sizeable schollys, and it's an investment. My daughter went to Phillips Exeter (in NH), cost well over $50K a year but she had a 2/3 scholarship, and is now on a full-ride scholarship at Vanderbilt -- which is freaking amazing, and she wouldn't have that without the boarding school investment in her future. The stuff about the teacher is unfortunate, and it's going on all over the place, male and female teachers. The public high school where my two sons went has had at least 3 teachers charged in such scandals, male and female, within the past few years.
  10. You know, having gone to AAU and HS tourneys over the years the parents yelling "rebound!" and "Shoot the Ball!" just kill me, lol.
  11. Things that make me smile: "Bates is a shot maker, the most essential tool in today’s game and Bates has it in spades. He played a vital role on this season’s IMG team as the best perimeter shooter, but also their best perimeter defender," Rivals' national analyst Jamie Shaw said. "It may be easy to pigeonhole Bates into the 3 & D moniker, and that is not a bad thing, but he has a little more shake to his game than that. Bates is good in transition and can knock down a 1-2 dribble pull up, but make no mistakes his offensive game is predicated on his deep range."
  12. This is one of those rare times when i actually like being older. :)
  13. Pretty wild timeline - i lived in Btown from ‘76 - ‘88, so 3 NC’s and the ‘87 as a junior at IU we didn’t know how good we had it
  14. Kind of strikes me that I think only 1 person in this thread has said I Thomas. Maybe it’s an age thing. I was just a high schooler when Thomas lead us to that NC but damn that guy was one of the best point guards ever, absolutely incredible, and definitely a smiling assassin, fearless, almost impossible to stop, killing you while smiling. That’s my favorite kind of player (along with 2-way players grnerally) so for me, Thomas and Vic And Vic also bc my kid got to go one on one with him at a Crean camp, as a middle school player, and Vic literally jumped over and dunked on him in one motion. Lol
  15. Similar to how MJ has helped UNC recruiting over the years, think we'll see Melo helping IU's recruiting...
  16. The one on the right is kind of hot
  17. Oh snap, thought this was the conf wish list thread
  18. This is what I’ve been looking forward to again for what feels like forever. I think Woodson and the newly balanced team is going to bring that vibe — here’s to hoping
  19. Hey, my real name is LeBron Jordan. :)
  20. You may well be right. The limited minutes he got in the exhibitions seem to indicate that. It's early though, and my thinking is that he's got the talent, and if Rob doesn't step up (offensively) I think he could grow into those minutes, but yeah, he's competing now with the veteran on ball players (including Rob's D) who at this point look to be the primaries.
  21. At this point I'm going with either Geronimo or Lander. Geronimo looks primed for a real breakout year, whether or not it's off the bench, has the athleticism, defense, rebounding strength, and I think outside shot that's going to be much better utilized (and developed) this season. Lander, though, has a chance to show the jump to more consistent and much higher level point guard contribution than he's shown. Woodson continues to refer to him as young and he's started off getting only limited minutes, but that was still exhibition time. This kid has so much talent, he wasn't one of the top ranked recruits / point guards in his class by some fluke, but he's been young and physically, outside of quickness, not really ready for the college game. As he continues to get stronger and integrated into Woodson's system, he has the potential for a big leap. The defensive side needs work, that's holding him back, imo, but I'm rooting for him.
  22. Romeo got a fair amount of run over the summer and had several highlight reel dunks that were featured on espn. He may finally have a healthy year coming, hope so i’d love to see him finally grt to be able to play at the level of his talent. Stevens has been high on him. Meanwhile, Carsen Edwards and Kris Dunn have been traded to Memohis
  23. Wholeheartedly agree and echoing for emphasis! The NBA game today is heads and shoulders above college ball (as much as I love college ball and IU). It's not just that it's the best players in the world on the court, with a skill level miles above the average college game, the offensive sets, absurdly good point guard play, switching, flashing, defensive adjustments (and yes zones have been part of the NBA game for years) and ridiculous speed of the game is far beyond college level play. There are always plusses and minuses (the star treatment, hilarious 5-step uncalled travels, etc.) but man if you love basketball there's just no reason to tune out the NBA.
