It's cliche but things really have to start with defense for this group. Our half court offense can be putrid at times.

Haha IMO, no, not out of sense of loyalty but the absence of panicking as long as there's a coherent plan in place. The recruiting class suggests there is a coherent plan in place. This year is a lost cause, so retain the talented underclassmen and get ready to compete next year. If that doesn't work out, time to move on. But blowing it up now easily introduces way more risk for a program like IUWBB imo.

I assure you Geno would be forgiven several times over for multiple stinker seasons at UConn before fans lost hope in him. And our women's basketball program is nowhere near the same universe as theirs. IMO it would be different if she wasn't recruiting at the highest level in program history despite this rough patch. I'd rather see if she can right the ship next season before pulling the plug on the best coach IUWBB has ever had.

Nice post. Miles played pretty well against Purdue and Rutgers. Hopefully he can carve out 10-15 mins the rest of the year and help along his development. Really like what he brings on defense. Think he can absolutely contribute next year IMO. I think we'd be more likely to get minutes from Ristic than Drake next year. Totally my own speculation based on nothing factual, but I'd suspect he's most likely to transfer. Don't know what we're working with on Harris since he's been injured basically all year. Andrej is taking a redshirt year, I assume he's on a development plan. Hopefully he can play bench minutes next year. Depending how much the staff wants to flip the roster, I could see Harris moving on too. Probably cheap to retain him though, so wouldn't be surprised if he stays either. Hopefully PAM can have a role off the bench. I think we definitely need a starting backcourt and C. Probably a starting 4 too. With 6 departing seniors, I think we'll have enough free NIL "cap space" (for lack of a better term), I think we'll have more than enough to fill those. Hopefully we nail the scout.

I suspect Painter will be at Purdue as long as Painter wants to be at Purdue. I think he will want to be there for the rest of his career unless he becomes convinced they can't win a title there because of lacking NIL or some other structural issue... you never know, but hard to imagine him elsewhere.

I wouldn't read too much into it. It's an honor to get an offer and these kids like to flex them. But yes, in football recruiting, flips are way more common. Now, if he schedules a visit, I'll definitely look at him sideways...

I'd rather Conerway off the bench than Enright based on the rest of our starters tbh. The ball moves better with Enright IMO and Conerway can add some scoring off the bench.

If we win another title they'll have to invent a new word for my brand of annoying. It will be unfathomable levels of annoying.

Painter is a fine coach but nothing special IMO. He will squander what's left of Smith's career with this group. Loyer sucks out loud. Those 2 + TKR are not an elite core IMO. Glad we got the win. Let's keep the momentum rolling now. Would be huge to snag one on the west coast swing.
