Just a preference, don't feel strongly against Tino or anything. I just think there's probably more value to be had by bringing in someone with a more "outside in" perspective since both coordinators have spent their entire careers under Cig's tutelage. Of course flip side of that is you already know you can plug Tino in since he understands how the staff likes to do things. Someone closer to the Whitmer profile (NFL background) would make me more excited. JMO

Obviously happy with whoever Cig brings in. Personally I'd rather see some new blood than bring Tino back.

Before the season people said if we split 2 / 4 between Marquette KSU UK and UL it would be "meeting expectations" Marquette and KSU didn't turn out to be good wins but hard to hold that against the coach. Plenty of valid criticism for DDV but I think it's very revisionist to say OOC was a "terrible showing." As of now we're competing and that's all you can ask IMO. Our 6 seniors make by far the most $$ on the team and we have 3 freshmen coming in. Should be plenty of money to get a starting backcourt and front court in the spring portal IMO. Make the tournament with this group and we should be able to make a pretty great pitch. Can't really expect to win the offseason before you win on the court so don't see how a "lackluster" offseason can be held against him. Unless you expect every hire to turn things around like Cig. Which is extremely misguided. There's only one Cig. 9 more B10 games. We'll see how they shake out.

Dorn, yes... Bailey? We'll see how he does when he's not facing Xavier Booker. Hopefully he can build on a great performance last time out.

Only time will tell. Some will wet the bed while we wait and others will be "true fans" ... but we will find out, because he's not going anywhere for at least three or four years. Why does this thread exist again? Oh yeah, bed wetting. Lol

Bracketology and Team Resumes

Right maybe just not before they've coached 20 games at a school :)

And that solved what, exactly? Other than winding up a bunch of dudes on the Internet, myself included. Lol

Nobody is happy with a "participation trophy" just because they acknowledge this is real life college basketball and not a video game where you can just quit and start over if things don't go your way. It's not sacrificing standards to acknowledge that success is not always linear and it's a long season. Thats all. People are reactionary in general. 4 game skid, fire everyone. 3 game win streak, everything's hunky dorey... no... more likely, things are never as good or bad as they seem. Hope they can keep the hot streak rolling and leave LA with 2 wins.

It's the fans fault now? Lol

Totally with you there and agree with all the things you mentioned about 1 PG / Bailey / top 7 guys. Just really glad they've finally got some momentum going in conference play. If we can beat USC, things are really looking up. That Nebraska game will bug me the rest of the year. Very curious how we manage working Conerway back into the fold, thankfully Dorn has made the most of his opportunity to start

Saying we had "a coach who didn't seem to care" is the laughable part of that post. And if we didn't blow a 16 point lead against Nebraska, we'd be sitting pretty already. Fact is it's a flawed team that's now competing. Hopefully they keep it up.

True Fans vs Bedwetters ... a message board classic

And people were acting like we hired Micah Shrewsbury during a rough stretch. A college basketball season is long and full of ups and downs. This thread is premature to the point of being silly, hence the title change from "Fire Darian DeVries" to "Fire Darian DeVries? Lol" No coach is perfect. This roster is far from perfect. The chicken little complex is extremely strong in our fanbase. It's like some are so eager to critique they don't let themselves enjoy the ride of being a fan. Hopefully they keep giving us more to cheer about.

At 26 years old, that's a sad statement! He can't even be on his parents health insurance anymore lol.

Who told you not to?

Yeah of course. The last 2 mins were awful to watch. Good learning opportunity with a W instead of an L. Beat USC and things are really headed in the right direction. Dorn needs to keep starting. Conerway (or Enright) off the bench will be good for the team I think. Like what Miles has been showing the past few games too. And Bailey had the game of his IU career. Reasons for optimism too.
