Also, The Cuban follow probably was a bigger deal than I wanted to believe (because we've been burned with the following talk before). But a family friend went to a big donor event at U of I and per the IL staff, IU gets most its NIL money from Cuban.

He's a big time IU donor (lawyer) etc. And an old guy. Not your typical social media follower type.

It's brand identity, it's not important if the name is literal. If you change it to Big 16 would that be a good name? Would people know what it was? A lot teams and leagues have names that don't make sense. I suppose the Lakers should change their name because there are no lakes in LA. ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) has ND and Louisville. So you think all these leagues should change their name every time they add teams because it "makes no sense"?

I think people underestimate how playing in the Big Ten is a detriment these days. They are not getting the elite players anymore and have not done well in the tournament. IU is definitely getting negatively recruited against because of this. It's been mentioned by a few people. BIG needs to realize this and start changing the way the games are called.

So the Wayne in your profile name refers to Fort Wayne? I am from there as well. Regardless, good stuff. IU has been recruiting that area better the last few years.

A long time? This year's class was pretty good in my eyes. One guy is going to the NBA, the other played significant minutes, one guy faded, the other started contributing.

I'm not a fanboy of "insiders" but I do appreciate what all of them bring. It's way more fun. They're all wrong from time to time. But I'd rather they be wrong every now and then, than if they never shared any info at all. So I'm not sure what's to gain by saying one guy's full of it anymore so than any other guy? But that's just my two cents. I come here for scoops just like I go there for scoops. I would actually say most guys are spot on when it comes to current player/coaching and portal "rumors", but can strike out a bit with the "standard" recruit info. Unless the insider is Woody or the assistants, I think there's always going to be some "misses".
