I’ll answer this the best I can. Fred Glass signed the last Adidas deal through his buddy and fellow IU alum who is a VP at Adidas. At the time it provided us with the most up front cash and presumably more $ than Nike. At the time it was one of the largest, because at this point a lot of schools were dropping adidas like third period French and Adidas wanted to keep their remaining premier schools (Michigan dropped the contract and moved to Jordan and we should have done the same IMO) Although it was the most up front cash, fans speculate that it was a short term gain for a long term loss for two reasons 1 : poor apparel sales directly related to Adidas not selling anything the fan base would like to buy - see the daily student article blasting adidas for doing team issue only apparel that the fan base can’t buy. I believe IU gets a royalty for everything sold. And so even if IU got less money up front from Nike, they could get more money from the royalty portion. If you Don’t believe me, go to any Nike schools website and there’s pages on pages of apparel whereas the adidas schools are limited… also Iu isn’t even a tier 1 adidas school (at least in football). So an adidas school like Washington gets these new technology football jerseys etc, and IU gets their bottom tier technology from years ago, which makes it look like a jersey from Walmart. (Also IMO our basketball uniforms don’t fit, they come untucked a lot and kids are rolling their shorts up 1-2) 2. Brands play an important role in recruiting and it’s speculated that Adidas hasn’t helped us get top basketball talent. If you don’t believe me, go to any high school or youth basketball pick up game, it will be 90% Nike gear, and maybe 10% Steph curry/under armour, and maybe 1% Adidas - meaning people are voting with their wallets and Adidas is not what kids want to wear It has been pointed out by fans who went to the Kansas game that there are serious issues with adidas at IU and our apparel in general, which have given rise to the success of companies like homefield (not a bad thing)

Wanted to open source some ideas for IU athletics. Just as Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses to the Catholic Church’s door I figured we could come up with 95 changes we’d like to see. I’ll kick off the list: 1. Football a priority 2. improved Football only facility 3.

Just got back home from watching the game in person…. Our issue isn’t shooters, our issue is that we have no strategy on offense so we don’t know where we’re getting shots and how to get open looks. Our offense is dump it inside to reneau or ware and pray.. If we do shoot a 3 it’s out of impulse not design and those usually miss… Also we don’t have anyone like newton #2 for UConn on our team… I would argue that we are not close to how the game is supposed to be played in 2023… From top to bottom there is so much wrong with IU basketball. As a program as a whole, not just X’s and O’s… can someone with insider knowledge let us know if it can be turned around?

Is Ware our best player? Yes Is Reneau a threat from deep, great passer, or a driving threat? No Does Reneau occupy the lane preventing Ware from being more effective? Yes Does MM struggle with offensive identity when Reneau is in the lane? Yes I love Reneau but I feel like we’d be better with him out of the game as Ware has more space, wing players have more space to drive, etc. i’m praying this isn’t the case but seems like we only have 1-2 pieces and not a cohesive team / unit. Could be coaching/ could be talent ideal line up cupps xj Galloway -> these 3 subbed by our other guards MM -> reneau Ware -> sparks

At this point I’m 100% convinced the team’s struggling because of our how we’re playing Reneau with Ware. . It’s just my observation but Reneau seems to be clogging the lane. He can’t really play a 4, so it’s too many bigs in the lane and there’s not enough cutting and slashing…. My gut feeling tells me that our best lineup is Cupps at the point, Xavier Johnson and Galloway at the wings, and Ware and anyone other than Reneau. I love Reneau but IMO he takes away from Ware when they are both playing at the same time… and it’s not his fault it seems to be the way the offense is designed. I think MM off the bench for either Galloway or X.

Is this real or are you making fun of the Billy Donovan spotting in bloomington crowd? Also - Was it ever confirmed one way or the other if that ever happened? -
RIP Coach Knight

I found myself asking “why hasn’t IU even had a Cinderella elite 8 run in the last 15 years?” And how has K-State made 3 elite 8’s with 3 different coaches in 12 years? and then remembered that we only went to 4 of 11 tournaments. -

What do they say? Tough times create strong men, strong men create great times, great times create weak men, weak men create tough times. Seems like we are tough times era… To say Indiana is incompetent organizationally is an understatement. Although micro changes have occurred. New president, new AD, new coach, I still believe there needs to be some accountability in the athletic department. -
Outside of TJD, I don't see how we can't upgrade from Kopp, Race, Tamar next year. I don't think our supporting cast was as good as fans thought. I believed all three of them averaged a combined 22pts a game. Tamar's last 16games he only averaged 3 a game. Neither of those 3 could drive the ball. So you have Malik, Galloway, and X returning. Per 40min X=15, Galloway = 10 Malik = 10 So you have 35pts there, You need another 40 from Cupps, Sparks, and 1-2 more transfers. Assuming Cupps = 6, Sparks = 10, we have a 24pt hole. Caleb Love averages 17, and so now you need 7-10 points. If we also adapt offense to look more like Penn States, Miami's etc then I could see production numbers improving

I really liked that they spoke about what made Brad Stevens so successful in terms of having EVERYONE, even the Janitors on the same page moving together towards a common goal, and I loved Dusty's comment about open mic nights -

I imagine if any of the us on the board had one conversation with Archie we would have realized he wasn’t a good fit. I’ll never understand that hire for the life of me… he was my 5th pick after Holtmann, Mack, and a few others. (Ironic that none of them are working out) I actually liked the idea of Woodson when we his name was thrown out. Not to bash on Osterman…. But listening to a former player on the Hoosier Hysterics podcast vs Osterman on the mind your banners podcast with both topics being post Mortem’s of the season… it seems like the “writers” around the program are kinda clueless. -

My friend calls it "After Glow"... Hubert Davis taking UNC in 2022 (following Roy Williams), Kevin Ollie taking Uconn in 2014 (following Jim Calhoun), Bruce Weber taking Illinois in 2005 (following Bill Self), Mike Davis taking Indiana in 2002 (following Bob Knight)... Texas this year might make it (Following Chris Beard)... These are not great coaches, just inherited a PROGRAM. -

Couldn't we promote woodson to the role that Matta had a few years ago at IU? like director of Basketball operations? Hire May, grab transfers from FAU, Portal and be a serious contender the following year?
