Ya I remember hearing about the APR issues. Wasn’t the player in question Obi Toppin? My personal opinion is that there’s no scenario in which Archie is successful here. I’m not denying that the admin probably hamstrung him a bit. But the head coach at IU not only has to lead his team but also the fan base. Crean was too bizarre, Archie too meh, etc. Why is it so hard for us to find a coach that will just sit down with Don F or the assembly call and state “here’s the reality of what I’m looking to eliminate, here’s what I’m looking to add, and here’s how we’re gonna do it” vs the classic coach speak of “we just have to get over the hump, we didn’t make shots” The moment the coach of IU stops being real with the fans is when we turn. We’re either your biggest asset or liability, and they just seem to ignore us. If I was AD at IU I’d tell the bball coach to pick a podcast just speak the truth about your vision to the fans

I know a huge issue with Creans non-con schedule was actually Glass wouldn’t pay to have the ranked teams from 200-30 come play us which forced Crean to play cupcakes that were 300-360 in ranking. When Archie came in he was in disbelief and Glass upped his budget in response.

Side note…. strategically from an AD’s perspective …. Your goal at Indiana is to win a Title. It’s very easy once the coach is in the position to see if said coach has the juice to win one…. If the coach doesn’t have the juice, you need to be strategic in working towards getting your man, maybe that takes 2 years, maybe longer. Championship caliber coaches appear every 5-8 years… Stevens, Beard, (possibly May)… So if you’ve got a dud, be patient and wait for that championship coach to appear, then make your move regardless of your current situation. I don’t like this idea that “we’re churning through coaches” we’re not. The reality is IU has no program strategy. If you don’t believe me ask yourself what the brand of IUBB is. its because of this we won’t fire a coach when we should, and then are forced to scramble and hire a flash in the pan guy like Archie Miller

We didn’t have a president of the university when Harry Gonso and shoulders and whoever else hired glass, missed what 8 of 12 tournaments, he gets fired along with the president… we again don’t have a president when the AD is hired. I’m sure Gonso and Buckner and shoulders and whoever else still holds influence and upgraded Glass’ guy vs doing a national search

Yes all the good IU gear isn’t Adidas… I was mad about the selection so I even had custom quarter zips made. Don’t have a website but have sold 10+ of them, even to a prominent podcaster, just by them seeing me wearing it and wanting one. Also I am a Nike shareholder so @Ngw7183 thank you for your service. I only buy from Nike.

How you do anything is how you do everything…. If IU cuts this many corners with its apparel, why wouldn’t it cut just as many corners with every other aspect of the program? We cut corners when hiring our coach, we cut corners going to the tournament in NYC this year (no cheerleaders, etc), the Brand of Indiana Basketball is to cut corners Can anyone Prove me wrong here?

That’s literally the point you’re making for me and anyone else who wants Nike… go to a Nike school’s website and there’s 7+ pages of option…. Go to Indiana and there’s barely anything for sale…. if it doesn’t matter…. then why isn’t adidas just pushing as much content as possible? At one point adidas didn’t sell any Leo gear or Quarterzips. why do you think Homefield even exists? It’s because Adidas didn’t have any exciting product, so they stepped in. But for further Example: let’s say Nike pays IU $3m up front but gets 20% of IU merch sales and they sell $10M of Nike gear Adidas pays $4M up front and we get 20% of $5m of Adidas sales Which option would you take and why?

Ya, I saw some tweets about Nike and IU and how Nike was so far off that IU wouldn't be able to accept it in this round of negotiations. I imagine IU announces they stay with adidas and announce additional fan options so fans feel like we;ve won something. In reality its giving us crumbs.

We suck so Nike doesn't want us, and we can't get better recuits because we don't have Nike.... Does Adidas know they are outbidding themselves every contract? Seems like we fleeced them. (or the fact that the last deal was negotiated with an IU grad that is a VP at Adidas in Portland) P.S. apologies in advance for my rants. I've always had the idea that we do a students only game at the hyper, we build stands around a court in the center and play one game, only students... That place would be rocking, and provide a breathe of fresh air to a stale program. Texas had a student's only game a few years ago with Beard in the Volleyball arena. And my second Idea, was to keep assembly, but remove the balcony's and expand the seating behind the baskets.

I get the sarcasm, but we live in a vibrational world where frequencies are everything..... I imagine if you're 17 and come to IU on a visit, the vibes are bizarre. Uniforms add to the bad vibes, as does the practice facility, as does the morale of the Old IU guard's unwillingness to change. People trust their gut, and If I was 17 and a top prospect my guy would probably tell me to stay away if I had other options. The Vibes of IUBB need refreshed and refreshed badly. NIKE could be the catalyst, but most likely its some 50yr old guy designing the jerseys who say "eh, good enough", you can't have that and also expect to win a championship.

WHO IS IN CHARGE OF UNIFORMS AT IU????? Its not an adidas issue. Its an Indiana Issue. For 4 years under Archie, our tops didn't match our bottoms. the FIT (or the CUT) our straps the part around the shoulders made it look boxy and like we're wearing sleeveless shirts. The bottoms were too long and players were rolling up the shorts 2-3X. If you want to build a championship team, you'd take one look and say "WOW half of our games are spent retucking in our jerseys.......THAT PROBABLY IS A DISTRACTION OR THAT ITS INHIBITING OUR ABILITY TO PERFORM AT PEAK.... we should fix this.... But NO. we look like a middle schooler in 2004 who's turning emo with deep V. Why can't we even try a Cream jersey with spaghetti straps, Crimson and cream piping, Script Indiana, and an old IU trident on the shorts... WHY CAN'T WE EVEN TRY... WHY can't we do a collaboration with Aime Leon Dore, or KidSuper, or Yeezy while it was still available. WHY DO WE NOT WANT TO SELL THESE JERSEYS TO MAKE MONEY FOR THE UNIVERSITY??????? ALSO WHY DO WE HAVE 5 Stars on our butt? THIS PERSON NEEDS TO BE FIRED TO THE MOON.
