Also Archie hasn't even had the chance to play his 2nd highest ranked recruit. The "his guys" is a legitimate excuse bc Crean left the cupboard extremely bare and Crean really whiffed on that final Class that Archie inherited. Literally had ZERO players who could knock down a 3 consistently when he took over. Brought in Fitz, helped JMo develop his shot, McBob is a great spot up shooter now, and Durham has improved drastically from 3. I'll be patient and let him get his top 10 recruiting classes in year in and year out and if he's not winning at a high level next year and not consistently in the top 20 with the talent we should have then I will start agreeing with the pessimists on this board. People are acting like Brohm is Nick Saban or Urban Meyer. I don't get it. Yes, he's a good coach don't get me wrong but is he worth top 10 money in the COUNTRY?!?! Purdue had been down I get that, but then again they've had 2 back to back 6-6 seasons. Nothing to get too excited about. I don't recall anybody going crazy about Kevin Wilson being one of the greats when we finished with back 2 back 6-6 seasons. Instead we "parted ways" with the guy and nobody seemed to be devastated about the loss. Wilson was just as much of an offensive juggernaut as Brohm was. Give Archie time to get HIS guys in there first before we start running him out of Bloomington. He has had his first recruiting class for 7 games and we're 5-2 with a loss at possibly the best team in the history of college basketball and a tip in away from a big road win and people are jumping off the Archie bandwagon faster than I can type this. Give the guy some time before we critique the coaching methods...and just imagine if this recruiting class comes together like it seems. Next year we have a starting 5 of Rob, TJD, Brooks, Hunter/Smith, Al. Green, Race, Hunter/Smith, Franklin off the bench. That's a top 10 team easy. We will find out a lot about this team over the next month and where we really stand but until then...I will wait to make an assessment especially if we get Brooks and TJD to commit here soon. Patberg is going to be an All-B1G no doubt and possibly All-American by next year. People forget she was a McD's AA out of high school. Her dad was my freshman coach and it's easy to understand why she's such a hungry competitor. Never played for a tougher coach...and it shows in Ali and benefits us BIG time. We just dug ourselves too big of a hole mostly caused by A LOT of uncharacteristic turnovers and missed bunnies. We came out and looked scared and never was able to get into a rhythm. This Duke team may be the best college basketball team EVER assembled. I would be surprised if they lose another game. Only teams with major length stand a chance coupled with Duke having a VERY poor shooting night. Let's see how we come back and respond to start the B1G. Seems like so many are quickly abandoning any excitement we had to begin the season and just dogging this team for being 5-1 with no wins less than 14 points and beating a top 25 team by virtually 30. This team is still growing and gelling together and the injuries have halted our "growth" as of late. Getting McBob back is going to do wonders for this team and even though I'm not a big fan of Green, he's going to provide much needed depth at the guard position to give Rob a breather. Just relax, enjoy the game tonight, we're playing with house money tonight and nothing to lose. We will be getting McBob back tomorrow night and we have been missing his intangibles/defense/leadership mightily since he's been out. I don't think most realize that he's lead us in efficiency in the games he's played and nobody has come close to him. He's going to make a HUGE difference for us! He won't be rattled at Duke either having been there several times already to watch his brother. Is there a chance we try to play a 2-3 and have them beat us with the 3? Otherwise we risk them driving at will and JMo getting in quick foul trouble early. I think I'm more optimistic than most in this game and don't think we'll get killed as bad as most think.
