Idk. Hunter’s IQ, confidence, and defense are currently and objectively awful. However, he might be our best shooter on the roster, with great height on a roster void of many big men. I think it’s worth it to try and give him the minutes to build his confidence for the long run. For the record, I feel the same way about Lander. In the big 10 this WEEK alone (it’s only Wednesday), we’ve seen: - Minnesota blow out MSU - Maryland upset Wisconsin - Purdue nearly beat Rutgers Not to mention this Penn State team beat VT and VCU, and played Michigan closely. Well when you get into the tournament you never know what will happen. First two years = bad. Last year? Things were trending up. I could’ve seen us winning a game or two in the tourney. This year? Getting to the tournament is a must. Winning a game, two, or even three would be huge. Next year? IF - and I understand it’s a big IF - TJD comes back, and we get a grad transfer big, we’re contending for a national championship. For those reasons, I’m much more more optimistic about the Archie tenure for the time being. I don’t like where the offense or shooting is at, but I LOVE our defense. I think one of the (many) interesting disparities between Tom Crean and Archie Miller is the ceiling. Crean’s ceiling was a national championship, but his foe was consistency. Archie’s problem is not consistency, but rather his ceiling. We’ve seen him reach multiple Sweet 16’s at UD, but his ceiling at IU remains to be seen. In my opinion, I believe he’s done nothing to warrant getting fired after this year. I also believe he’s done nothing to warrant a contract extension. He’ll get next year. It’ll be an important one.
