....First off, I am very disappointed in last night's performance, especially the amount of time off between our last game. Several on here may not agree with me on this, but here are several observations that really stand out with how/why this team is currently playing. (IMHO)... - We are an extremely young roster with a lot of new faces. XJ is the only player from the original starting 5 from last year. (TJD, JHS, XJ, Kopp, Thompson). **Reneau started some games and got more and more minutes as the season went on. - We are in desperate, desperate need of smart, vocal leader on this current team! Last year's team had several starting with TJD, JHS, XJ and Race (when healthy and playing well). - Ware has been a welcomed addition and has not disappointed,........... However, for us to continue to grow, he has to be more vocal and be more aggressive. - We appear rudderless from a PG standpoint at this stage in the season and lack confidence shooting the ball from our guard play. - Woodson banked/counted on bench players, Gunn and Banks to step and make positive impact at guard play over last year. (Banks has made some welcomed improvement, but.....) - Without freshman Cupps forced into the starting PG spot, we quite possibly could be below 500 right now! - XJ at starting PG is now the X factor to moving this team forward in a positive way. It is HIS time to shine and establish leadership. His best assets are his speed, court awareness, ball handling and passing. On the flip side, they have been his Achilles Heal too. Which one are we going to see from here on out? - I have said this from day one, freshman guard, Jakai Newton is a HUGE LOSS to this year's team. IMO, he was the X factor at guard play that we are missing. - Most every player has asperations to play at the next level, whether the NBA or over seas. Coach Woodson has coached and been around the NBA long enough to know what it takes to get them there. - Lastly, with all this being said, you have to play with the hand you're dealt. The coaches coach and prepare a game plan to be executed successfully. It's then up each individual player to fully buy in, perform and execute that game plan. - "Is it the chicken or the egg?" Whose fault is it, the coaches or the players? I tend to lean towards the players not successfully completing their assignments properly. IF NOT, YOU GET RESULTS LIKE LAST NIGHT! Go IU!

I always love listening to the comments from opposing coaches. He definitely knows the game and knows how get the very best out of his players. He seems very selfless and has genuine love for his team. I can see why those Kennesaw St. kids play so hard for him. If he keeps this up, he definitely won’t be coaching there for very long. Mark my word and I’m gonna say it now, this team will win the Atlantic Sun, make the tournament and upset a higher seed in the first round.

I was just going over IU’s transfer portal roster. It currently lists 9 players total who originally committed to Coach Cignetti and JMU. Though some on here are reluctant and apprehensive about most of these players because of their lack of “stars” or even star power. I have a couple observations on all of this. - That many players and potentially more, believe and trust in Coach Cignetti enough to follow him where ever he goes. That says volumes…. - Coach Cignetti still wanting these specific players to come with him it IU and be a part of this rebuild also speaks volumes as to the type of players he knows and wants to go to battle for him. I also liked one of many comments he has said about his process so far. I will paraphrase… “We had to re-recruit IU guys to get on the bus with us and we also had to tell some to get off the bus!” It would be interesting to find out which IU players he told to “get off the bus!”

I wondered when this would happen, or IF it would. I wonder if any of the newest JMU commits have anything to do with this… ?

On top of that…..If, and that’s a big if we actually start winning and consistently, he will be a hot commodity.

Coach Cignetti.... paraphrase, "Look, the administration here, they want football to win! I've got some things that the "other" coaches didn't..... and hey, they got a guy that knows what they're doin!".... I love his confidence. I sort of got from his last statement that we will definitely not see what we saw the past several years as long as his coaching staff and football team has anything to do with it. He did say he thinks we will win big next year..... I sure hope so.

Reflecting on Walker's performance last night,...... he deserves more minutes, plain and simple. Based performance last night was a testimony of what he can do and I think "willing" to do if he's given more opportunities. Any player sitting on the bench for extended minutes game after game has to be evaluating what he can do to help this team. I think Walker has really stepped up and put that evaluation to fruition. Now we need more of this from others.....JMO

For what it’s worth, this time last year, we were also 8-3 on December 19th and went 9-3 by beating Elon on December 20th, 2022.

If IU would have played defense the whole game like they did during their 20-4 run,…..and hit their free throws we win by 20 going away.

I love them..... I always wanted a black uniform for IU football. I would maybe change a few colors of the lettering, but I think they are sweet. I would love to have a deep, metallic red helmet with the same metallic red in the lettering on the jerseys. JMO

In reference to some of IU’s top player coming back to IU,……I’m guessing this could be because of some of CCC’s latest additions and maybe, possible knowledge of some “sideline verbals”? JMO…

We really missed X in this game! I’m gonna take this loss as a huge learning opportunity for Cupps. Because of this, he will be better for the BIGTEN and we should have a healthier X.
