Hope JHS can help IU out here. -
2022-2023 IUBB Roster Projection
HoosierFan1994 replied to Five Prime's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
My ideal 5 next year is Jalen, X, grad transfer guard who can shoot it (find a taller version of Jordan Hulls!), JG, and Race. Galloway as the 6th man. Tamar has to show more for me to pencil him in to start. -

The last few national champions (Baylor, Virginia, Villanova) started multiple guys who could run the point. I don't see why Jalen and Xavier can't play together. Let's make it happen! I also said last night that the development of Tamar, Trey, and Jordan is going to be very important in the success of this team the next couple of years. If those three guys really develop.... -

You guys said what I wanted to say. Love Race. I think he's an All-Big Ten player if he comes back for one more year. But....Geronimo should be playing way more. If he really develops, I think he's an NBA draft pick. I could see him killing it for another team if he were to transfer. That being said..I know it's small ball but why can't Jordan play the 4 and Race play the 5. Villanova plays small ball and it works for them. -

I'm not the biggest fan of the revolving door either. However, we are in a unique circumstance with players getting an extra year. If Iowa and Wisconsin are going to take advantage of 5th/6th year players, IU should too. The majority of the teams still playing have two things in common: 1) they took advantage of the transfer portal and 2) most of their rotation is upperclassmen (22 and 23 year olds). I don't think it's a bad thing if this team loses 6 scholarship players. They are at least losing 4 with the 3 incoming guys and then another with reaching out to the Ball State player. Nothing against Kopp or Stewart but they shouldn't be getting 20 plus minutes at a Big Ten school. I'm an Evansville guy and I wanted Lander to succeed but he's probably the biggest IU recruiting bust since I've been an IU fan (early 2000s). The fact that Logan Duncomb didn't play against Northwestern and a walk on was playing over him is telling. There's 4 right there. I have to think either TJD or Race are gone, maybe both, with the recruitment of Sparks. I also wouldn't be mad to see Leal move on. It's telling he's been under two coaching staffs with not being a regular in the rotation. Wouldn't be mad to see Rob leave as long as they could get a decent replacement in the portal to run the point. I don't know how things work behind the scenes. I've heard of "Creaning" years ago. I just wonder what this team could have been if coach Woodson could have had a choice of two more players instead of keeping Leal and Duncomb. Nothing against those two guys, they just didn't bring anything on the court this year. -

My guesses Returning: Xavier, Trey, Rob, Tamar, Jordan, Duncomb, Leal Xavier could very be an All-Big Ten performer next season. Him with Jalen could be a lot of fun! I sure hope Trey, Tamar, and Jordan make a massive massive jump this offseason. Those three will have a MAJOR impact on IU's success the next three years. I have to think if Rob were gone he would've done a senior night speech. Leal is all in. Duncomb will give it another year although I'm not as high on him as I was before the year started. 50/50: Miller, Race, Durr Not sure Miller or Durr fit. However, if they leave to transfer to another school do they have to sit out a year? If so, they're probably back. Race is truly 50/50. He did give a senior night speech but also isn't ruling out coming back. Probably Gone: Parker, Trayce, Lander I just think Parker is gone. I also think Lander transfers. There will be possibly three guards ahead of him (X, JHS, and Rob). Trayce will be interesting. I would've had him gone this time a year ago. Right now, he's projected to go undrafted. Would the NIL be a reason for him to come back? If he does come back, Indiana could be a Big Ten/NCAA contender... We will see how many spots are left. If Parker, Trayce, and Lander are the only ones gone, there will be no room for any transfers. I have to think they lose at least one more in addition to those three. This team has to either develop or get someone in the portal who can knock a shot down. The Big Ten will be wide open next year. Conference is losing a LOT of talent. No reason Indiana cannot be a top 4 team in the Big Ten next year with some improvement. -
Rate The 2021-2022 Season! Staff + Players
HoosierFan1994 replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'll give it a low B. 80%. A C is understandable too. Anything lower...I'm just not sure why you are a fan to be honest. My expectation was to make the NCAA tournament. This roster wasn't as good as I thought it would be, but there still were a lot of question marks. Last Thursday to this Tuesday was the happiest I've been with IU basketball since probably the 2016 NCAA Tournament win over UK. Let's not make this the peak. Keep it going into next year. For Trayce- thanks for giving it your all these last three years. I doubt he comes back. As for Coach Woodson, thank you for getting this team back in the big dance. He still has lots of room for growth as a college coach. This program has to hit the portal hard. I don't want to trash any of the players but some of the guys just didn't give this team what they needed from them. Indiana has to find someone who can hit a d**n shot. I am looking forward to a backcourt of X and JHS. I think Geronimo will build on his NCAA success. Would love to see him, Bates, and Galloway improve dramatically. Get a couple bigs in the portal and I think this team is okay. Let's make a jump next year. Top 4 in the Big Ten and make the second weekend of the tournament. -
I am freaking pumped for tomorrow. Taking a half day at work so I can get home in time for all the games. The NCAA Tournament is the best sporting event in the world. When IU is in it it's 1000x's better. For me, it comes down to Miller or Parker hitting shots tomorrow. If they can knock down a couple 3's I like Indiana's chances. I think Race bounces back. Trayce is playing the best basketball he's played at IU. If I wasn't an IU fan and didn't watch as much of them, I'd probably think Saint Mary's wins a close one. However, since the Purdue games I've noticed a change with this team. I think they win a close one, 66-62. Trayce will be far be the best player on the court. I think Parker or Miller have one of their best games at Indiana.

So far Mike Woodson is 3-1 in his postseason career at IU. Small sample size but compare it to the previous 5 coaches... Miller 3-4 (1-3 without the NIT) Crean 10-14 (4-11 without the 3 Sweet 16 runs) Dakich 0-2 Sampson 1-2 Davis 14-11 (9-10 without the magical 2002 run) Woody's been here for less than a year and he already has more/tied postseason wins than 3 of the previous 5 coaches.

A win is a win. It was evident pretty early on IU was the better team. Obviously wish they would've won by more but in the postseason who cares. A) Wish this was the version of Trayce we got in February. He has been terrific since the 2nd half at Purdue. Hope he keeps it going. B) It is coaching malpractice Geronimo hasn't played more this year. He's 9th in minutes. That kid was awesome tonight! C) Hate to be negative but what do Parker and Miller bring? When they are in it feels only three players can score. D) Need Trey to play a little better than he has the last two games. I feel good about Thursday. I think Indiana playing a game already may help-but don't like the travel. Need someone to step up and hit some big shots Thursday. EDIT: Last thing I'll say...credit to Mike Woodson. This program is in MUCH better shape than it was on March 15, 2021. (Think this is the one year anniversary of firing Miller). There is so much room for improvement. But again, progress. Keep it going.

Bracketology and Team Resumes

Eye test tells me they are in but we will see. Matrix has them out, but Lunardi and other big media guys have them in. -

Super pumped for today. I get the best case scenario is an 11 seed but still. I wanted Indiana to make the big dance this year and they are. They are capable of winning a game or two. Matrix has the 6 seeds as Alabama, LSU, Texas, and Colorado State. I think if both Richmond and A&M win, Indiana will be in Dayton. If one of them win, it'll be 50/50 I think. -

Varsity Sports App. You can search for "Indiana" and it'll be on an hour before tipoff. -
I freaking love this time of the year. Got multiple TVs going, flipping channels. It's going to be a fun weekend of hoops!

BTT Game Thread: IU vs. Michigan 3/10 - 11:30 am on BTN

Stunned they pulled it off! I have a plan/lunch back to back (it's dream for a teacher) so I was able to watch the end of the 1st/beginning of 2nd half. I turned it off when it was 60-43. A friend texted me when they brought it to within 6. I said screw it and pulled it up for the class. It's about time IU has some good fortune in the Big Ten Tournament. Other thoughts: 1) Good for Trayce. I love the guy but he's been shut down by the B1G's best. Not tonight. I was getting Romeo 2019 BTT vibes from him early. Props to him for turning it on. 2) Xavier Johnson has been awesome!! This is the guy I thought we were getting. I hope he keeps it up. He was a monster on both ends. 3) Geronimo needs to play more. Simple as that. Kids a stud. Let's keep this going. Momentum is a real thing. This team has some. IMO I think they are in the first four unless some teams steal bids. A win tomorrow and they are 100% in. The one thing about this team is I truly think they can beat any team in the Big Ten. They were up on Illinois in the second half. Who says IU can't win tomorrow? They have a shot! -
Outside of collapsing at the end (Kid from Minnesota wouldn't miss) this was a good win. This team goes as Xavier Johnson goes. He had B1G Player of the Week performances against Maryland and Minnesota. There have been certain players at Indiana where if they had an outstanding game you knew the team would win (Watford and Williams come to mind). I liked seeing the team look for Parker and Miller. Geronimo was awesome off the bench. Right now the Bracket Matrix has IU as the last 4 in. I feel if they can beat Rutgers, Indiana will at least be one of the 68 teams in. Lose to Purdue and in the first round of the BTT they may be in Dayton. IU is probably stuck in the 8 vs. 9 game so they'll be playing anther bubble team potentially. Question for everyone...do we know who Indiana will recognize on Senior Night yet? This is something I'm interested in. Right now X, Rob, Durr, Miller, Race, and Parker are "juniors" but are actually seniors. My understanding is they all get an extra year and could return.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the 03-04 and 04-05 teams have injuries? Which is why they missed the tournament. At the time it snapped a long streak of getting in the tournament.
