  1. In all this I think we have to keep in mind the perspective of these 15-18 year old kids. Myself included, we tend to evaluate the program and predict the future from more realistic and mature (usually) viewpoints. A lot of kids don't have foresight, nor do they have the adults around them to help them fully evaluate the many opportunities in front of them. Kids in general take the path of least resistance, the one mostly likely to bring instant gratification. Right now Archie's sample size is too small and he's had to provide it with a semi bunk roster while unteaching bad habits and teaching a new system. Tom Crean, as mentioned above, is the only real-time image of Indiana basketball these kids have really experienced until now. I believe Archie will be better and more successful than Crean, but I think the image change will be gradual as will the curb appeal of Hoosier basketball to higher level recruits. A big breakout year for IU would definitely speed all of that up. Guys like Trayce, Romeo, et al would obviously be incredible assets for the cause. But until we have a consistently high level of play the competition for in state recruits will be fierce. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  2. I'm not worried. A long way to go. With the way he's shot up the rankings and the increase in looks he's getting, he'd be mistaken if he didn't do his due diligence and consider many options. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  3. I've gotta catch up on a few of these names, but I'm glad DJ Carton was there. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  5. Please please please let him be an IU advocate....
  6. He looked like he was about to cry when he was celebrating with the bench after the buzzer sounded.
  7. Don calling out the fan base just before tip.... Good. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  8. The pressure will continue to build at MSU and, while winning does trump all in normal circumstances, the reputation of the entire university is and will continue to be at stake. The incoming president and AD better not accept their new positions unless they are ready to call some difficult shots. Somebody has to be punished, and I'm hedging on football being the sacrificial offering to save face as a university. Basketball will be spared at all costs until the bitter end of controversy. 9. Purdoo vs Dook (sensing a theme? Ha): What do Bagley and Carter get done inside vs Gigantor 1 and Gigantor 2? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  10. Romeo likes the offense. He recognizes our guys are not utilizing it to its full potential, and still feels Archie is getting a lot out of them. I think they understand that the combination of returning players + incoming recruits at IU probably gives him the best chance to have some degree is success while also allowing him to be "The Guy". I also wonder if Tim was keeping information on communicating with RP close to the vest. While likely true that they don't communicate much (seeing as how they're currently each other's competition for a state title), I'm a little hard pressed to believe Tim knows how much communication there is with Garland and Grimes but not RP. 12. Don't be so sensitive about it, geez. You really expect the writer, who is an adult, not to be called out on an Indiana board for an article like that when we're in the midst of a heated recruiting battle for an IN STATE McDonald's All American? Tell me you aren't a proponent of the participation trophy... Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  13. Right? Looking ahead to next season is excruciating at times because it's soooo far away.... Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  14. We know, Lamar. But even working for the student newspaper, you shouldn't trade plain bias, while contradicting yourself (in the same article), for credible writing. That won't fly professionally, so he needs to learn it now. That's what working at a college newspaper is about. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  16. For the brainiacs they're supposed to be down there, they sure do miss the most obvious of facts on a regular basis. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  17. Part of me wants to Twitter troll this kid, but I'll be "mature" (boring[emoji849]) and refrain. On the other hand, it might help him realize the error of his ways and see Vandy basketball for what it really is. I'd hate to see a young writer continue to ruin his credibility.... What to do, what to do...I hate adulthood sometimes [emoji12] Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  18. In-season they likely aren't in a pure strength block anyhow, avoiding the high intensity work. With as many hours as they're putting in on the court and the importance of recovery time between games, they're likely just maintaining strength and doing some additional sport specific exercises. 19. In the current climate of NCAA recruiting, the most obvious and/or likely answer is $$$. Some people are also suckers and believe everything the slick-haired used car salesman had to say about the lemon they just drove off the lot. Other people just have poor taste in basketball programs. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  22. I know we're talking Cal currently, but that other crooked school in Kentucky has an upcoming event that's finally worth going to the YUM Center: [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  24. Yes, talk about a team that is frustrating. Florida fans must be losing their minds this season. Based off last year and the way they started this one I had them in my FF. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
