  2. If that were to happen.....
  3. Yes, it’s very doubtful at this point and he may struggle with that knee for quite some time based off what I’ve been hearing, but i’ll save it for the Gillis thread. Welcome aboard Armaan! Can’t wait to watch him develop. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  4. Mixed reviews on the board so far and that's perfectly ok. I don't doubt Archie sees some potential there. I also don't doubt Archie knows how to play the connections game, thus the reason I quote this post. This recruitment, like most, probably has an extra layer to it. 6. Not that it matters since we weren't in the running.... But he released his top 4 of pUKe, WV, Baylor, and Illinois (who are just blowing up his Twitter, btw ) Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  7. And now Bob Lamey is retiring. [emoji107] Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  8. Purdue seems like a courtesy at this point and from things I've read I don't think Dale has much pull in his life. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  9. Agreed. The intention is good, but I struggle to envision it in March Madness. That being said, I've only watched it twice and I'm very willing to give it a large sample size. I could feel differently if I were to see it on a larger scale and in a raucous hoops/fan environment. As long as we don't start advancing the ball on timeouts.... 11. Don't know how I'd feel about a black alternate from the perspective of tradition. I get never changing or only making the occasional tweak. I consider myself a purist in many areas. Iconic IU is one of them. However, one could also envision the once-in-a-blue-moon alternate uniform only serving to further drive home the iconic tradition of Indiana. You stay in one routine for too long, no matter how traditional/iconic/identity-driven it is, it gets old and loses it's meaning. When I see clips of the guys wearing black IU gear with red/crimson lettering I always find myself thinking how good it looks. I'm currently looking for a black IU shirt actually. But that's just one guy's preference. Another good alternate idea if not black would be anything with the script logo. I say let the football team experiment with the black and see how it fares. 12. If IU were located in Indy someone else could make the same comment and I wouldn't really argue it. Reality is, if my son were considering a school I'd be quite aware of environmentals such as crime rate. He didn't refer to anything untrue. Now if I may excuse myself, it appears one son has locked the other in the dog's kennel. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  15. Good for those guys. Hopefully we see some nice translation to the floor. Sure hope that post doesn't get misconstrued by others on the recruiting trail, though. Wouldn't want to risk losing recruits because people thought IU was preparing players to win a WWE title belt. You've got to be kidding me with that. You're telling me because I don't feel like a hype video highlighting summer training, which may or may not be misleading because we don't know EXACTLY to what record and method our S&C coach was referring, should warrant a panic attack about the direction of our program.... I'm partly responsible for Crean's extended stay-cation in Bloomington? (yes, I know you meant it in a figurative sense) First of all, I'm a little upset I'm just now finding out I had the power to influence that situation. You should have called me out sooner; I'd have fixed that situation well before 9 years rolled around. Secondly, fans don't make that call. Your AD does. IUgradman will fill you in on his thoughts there. It's a good thing you aren't a fan of a Louisville or Michigan State; you'd have done had the big one by now. Let me be clear: for anyone who is SO concerned over that post and what it represents, it would be nice if Marshall could specify for you just what combine record he was referring to, when it was set, who set it, and what method was used. Tweet the man if it bothers you that much. But if the important people within Indiana University Men's Basketball don't see it as detrimental, then odds are we'll be ok. If Justin Smith goes to the combine in, say, 1-2 years and records a 42 inch "max vert" with a 2 step approach I'm sure he'll understand the difference between that and a full running start he used with Marshall. I'll be done with this now so others can enjoy the board. My apologies to anyone I annoyed. I did feel the need to retort after being called out, but I'll refrain from now on.
  16. I just can't anymore. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  17. ....Not really. They tested differently. Smith basically had an unlimited or as needed acceleration space. The combine allowed 2-3 steps. Maybe the combine used to allow it the former way and that's what was referenced. Does it matter that much? I saw a video on Twitter today of a 5'4" guy dunking. I'm sure his vertical was not shabby. But I'm also sure he's not playing D1 or anything near it. I will agree with one thing, and I don't remember who posted it, but yes it must be slow since we're debating verticals around here. The boys will go out and excel in the B1G this season. That will speak for the program. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  18. I don't often react at all. And +1 for unrecognized irony. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  19. So you're straight up convinced Clif Marshall is a liar. I'm glad your confidence in this program is unwavering. We both know there are PLENTY more unsavory details in the realm of college basketball recruiting discussed between players than inflating summer workout numbers. I don't mean to come off as a jerk, but...well, I'm going go ahead and come off as a jerk right now: The constant worry in this place is darn near pathetic at times. I get why; I want this program back on top as much as the next rabid Hoosier fanatic. But let's enjoy the process just a little bit as the new era unfolds. I'll worry when we start recruiting Priller 2.0 and the staff starts buying poster board in bulk. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  20. The paranoia here is unreal. To fear a dive in recruiting because of the way a strength coach presents his testing is ridiculous. For all we know there may be previously documented records of max vertical with an as needed approach, and maybe that's what was being referenced in the social media post. For all we know, there may be other strength coaches out there who are indeed intentionally inflating their "this could be you" pitches to recruits. Clif Marshall seems like a stand up individual who's goal is mentorship and max performance. What I DO know is I'm a heck of a lot more confident in our performance development with Marshall at the helm of our S&C than the previous individual. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  24. I know he's never been high on your list, but I don't think he's pulling "crap", so to speak. And I don't recall him ever owing us anything. He probably wants to explore his options. A player's stock starts with recruiting. The more impressive the offer sheet the better. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
