  3. Maybe some of my previous points weren't stated clearly. It seems like your understanding of the hot garbage comment is off from what I intended. I expected the same in year two (and every year, if we're talking effort). If you're asking why I question people who want Miller gone after year two, I have nothing new to add. I'll just reiterate: think about what he took over and when he took it over. Think about what it does to a program's development to fire a coach in 2 years and how that presents itself to potential future players and coaches. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  4. I think he still hasn't made that adjustment to his morning fruit loops I mentioned previously. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  6. I'll put stock in what the Athletic has to say when pigs fly. I get that your point is a representative one, but still. Lists like that made in April are why Twitter handles like Freezing Cold Takes exist. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  7. My response to those who disagree, which is fine, is the same as my previous posts. They just need to be re-read. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  8. It was there because I was incredulous when I saw it. I couldn't tell you when or who, but woof. I just hope the extracurricular bs has run its course and the coaches can focus on coaching and the players can focus on playing. That's my goal for year 3. Hopefully the rest will take care of itself if that's the case. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  9. I just said it wasn't unreasonable for year 2, and it should have happened. I also said no one there was blameless. Year 2 was even a setback in many regards and now there is the extra pressure of redemption in year 3. Big plans rarely go perfectly to plan. No lie. You've seen it just as I have. People expected elite 8 and final four by year three. A "tourney berth" is hardly the return to glory a majority of this base demands. We know what people want, and that's fine. Count me in. But when they want it is a poor expectation. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  10. I excluded the moral compass argument. Arizona Miller obvious does a little more than tip toe that line. I still think our program was headed toward hot garbage status more so than OSU at that point. I'm not saying a tournament appearance this season was unreasonable because it wasn't, and should have happened. But the OVERALL expectations are off point. People were predicting our return to former glory by year three and it just isn't realistic for someone with a litany of things working against them. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  11. If people 100% expected Archie Miller to get us back to the tournament in year 1 then I applaud them for having high expectations, but they failed in the reality portion of the exam. Now that the reality of the state of the program has been presented to everyone, many continue to argue it and expect consistent high-level success out of thin air. This is simply not realistic. Miller stepped into a program that was nose-diving. To flip that into the vertical trajectory this fanbase expects (a trajectory we haven't had for damn near 30 years, mind you) in two years is ridiculous. And that's excluding the moral compass argument. Yes, no one in this program is blameless and that includes Archie Miller. But by the fanbase standard, we're setting him and anyone else up for failure. Holtmann was more or less smart to recognize that, even if he does sound like a chickens*** saying it. 13. https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/IND/2019.html Domas with better numbers in points, rebounds, and assists. Obviously Myles has him on blocks, but he has everyone there. So I don't know that Domas is "not very good" per se, but he did have a bad series. Players do that.
  14. Shooting is muscle memory. Muscle memory is developed, fine-tuned, and perfected through reps, more reps, even more reps, and then a few more reps. And then after those....more reps. Then repeat. Shooting likely went down as a whole partly because Archie probably spent a ton of practice time overhauling our defense. Anyone who watched our awkward Crean-age years knew defense would be an overhaul-type project. I don't know who spent what amount of time getting shots up on the side at that point. Then you have the mental part of shooting, which in many cases outweighs the mechanical aspect. As a whole, this program has not been sound in the category of mental toughness/attitude for the last several years now. Combine that with a culture change, overhauling other aspects of the game, and the fact that there are no pure shooters on the roster and you wind up with our current shooting woes. And let's not even discuss whatever bad locker room juju there was because that obviously affected pretty much everything for the last half of the season. Anywho, back to Harris. Sorry to contribute to a derailment here. I can't remember, or maybe he hasn't decided yet, but is there a set timeline for his commitment? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  16. Regardless, both of those guys fill needs and landing one of them with a good chance at the second doesn't fit their general 'burn it down' narrative. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  18. It tells me he cares about developing. If he’s wanting to get better rather than just expecting it to happen, that’s a start. Ultimately, all those players care about trying to get to the league. This can coexist with caring about winning at the college level and playing for the name on the front of the jersey. Hopefully knowing this is his last season ignites not only a determination to improve, but also a sense of pride in the team for which he plays. The latter remains to be seen, but probably has a better chance of happening now that locker room distractions (hopefully) have been reduced. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  22. Reading between the lines is difficult on screen. I get it. Anyway, I feel we have a better chance at Watford right now than we’ve had in a while. If we had no chance, the Watfords wouldn’t open the door for Miller and Co. Some may say it’s a courtesy given the Hoosier alumnus in the family, but they don't owe anyone that, especially Archie. If it were the same staff that had coached Christian I'd be much more concerned the visit was nothing but a courtesy. Obviously we're in consideration. When Hurt commits to Duke, we'll be even more in consideration. I don't think the Will Wade reinstatement changes things unless he wants to play for a now-exposed tool shed. 25. Correct; they're waiting for him to be off anticoagulant therapy and for him to be off long enough without clotting right back up again. For his sake I hope he's on Eliquis. Much easier to manage and just as effective as, if not more than, warfarin (depending on what studies you read). Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
