  1. I don't disagree that he's a solid candidate, but I don't see how that's more impressive than what May has done. And I feel like a chunk of the fanbase is writing May off after one sub-standard half, but I'm willing to bet no one would be too impressed with TJ if they had watched ISU's last few games.
  2. Pretty certain he meant currently under 50, not under 50 at the time.
  3. Why is TJ more attractive than May? ISU has been terrible lately.
  4. She can try to spin it that way, but it's not what she said. She said the real discussions about his future wouldn't happen until after the season ended. If I was in any way right about her, I think she will come on and eat some crow.
  5. I defended her several times but ultimately she was wrong. (and by association me as well). Maybe she can salvage a bit of her credibility by coming on and just admitting she was wrong about how this would play out.
  6. The entire statement was just PR spin. It doesn’t reflect the reality of what went on behind the scenes. He’ll get paid, the question is how much.
  7. Which is why I said he may still get the full amount and that the situation was apples to oranges. Either way, if he said the words "I quit" it was very dumb.
  8. If he actually uttered the words "I quit", that definitely wasn't smart on his part. Not saying he won't get the full amount remaining but he would have less leverage. I once left a job and told one of the managing directors I was leaving for a new job in a few weeks. Two days later, they let everyone in my division go and paid everyone severances. Guess who didn't get a severance? I know the situation is totally apples to oranges but from a legal perspective, how you leave matters.
  9. That would be insanely stupid if true. Pretty sure he would lose quite a bit of leverage in the buyout negotiation if he did indeed quit.
  10. Pretty sure the forced retirement will include him getting the rest of the money in his contract but only if he agrees not to bring any sort of legal action.
  11. Death, taxes, and Houston finishing in the top 5 in Kenpom. Who knows what would have happened last year if Shead hadn't gotten hurt in the tourney.
  12. Absolutely, and I don't know enough about it to get into the intricacies of those levels. I just don't think there is a magic pill we can take and pretend like nothing happened.
  13. I find the old "these people are the same people" argument to be funny, as it is almost always pure speculation. I don't think there is much debate on whether he put hands on his girlfriend. It's not a rush to judgment, it happened, according to her own words and physical evidence. The fact that his girlfriend subsequently dropped the charges doesn't change that. I'm not saying we can't hire him, but let's not stick our head in the sand while we do it.
  14. They are 364th out of 364 teams in adjusted tempo on Kenpom, and his system doesn't emphasize 3 pointers. It's just not a modern offense While his teams may be very disciplined (i.e., the tempo is due to working the ball around until they get a great shot), I don't see elite athletes wanting to play here with him as the coach. We could be a very good team with him, but it won't be fun to watch and I doubt we would ever have the horses to truly compete for a ship. Edit: I also think it would take time to institute his system, leading to yet a few more rough years. I know he is doing well at Drake but he has a lot of roster continuity, especially in his starting 5.
  15. I see McCollum as having a high floor but a low ceiling. I don't think elite talent is going to want to play in that system. We would be much better than we are now, but I' don't think he would put us in a position to win championships.
  16. I'm with Stuhoo here, couldn't disagree with you more. The media picked us to do very well because of the tremendous amount of talent that would be on the team. You could make the argument that many of these players, who had played very well previously, are not actually good. However, Occam's Razor would say that the most likely explanation is that poor coaching is reducing the effectiveness of the talent. Seeing transfers succeed at other places only reinforces that notion.
  17. Well at least we’re better than Wisconsin’s 3rd string.
  18. Losing by 15 and Myles Rice flings an underarm bounce pass like he’s playing at the YMCA. Can’t make it up.
  19. Galloway may possess a high basketball IQ but he sure chooses not to exercise it quite a lot of the time.
  20. I don't think that's true at all. If you start a thread like that in his first year, I think you'll be the one of the few people posting in it. Why would you care how much money he makes?
  21. I’m sorry, but isn’t this an obvious statement? How else does one project except based on performance to date? Predicting future performance would rely on many more assumptions.
  22. I’m confused by the Pat Coogan reference.
  23. How is what he did at Georgia irrelevant? He had them in the Kenpom 200s which is unheard of for a power 5 team. You could hire a guy off the street who could do better than that at a power 5 program. He was already on the decline at IU and his tenure at Georgia only proved how bad it could have gotten.
  24. That would be interesting, maybe I'll do it temporarily just for this. I'd bet there isn't more than one instance of a team moving from outside the top 10 into the top 3.
