When do we get to see Allen's prime? ...or have we already? When you say his last two seasons were train wrecks, which coach are you talking about?
-
You're cherry-picking stats. Once he got rolling, Mallory was more consistent over a longer period. He went to 6 bowls over 9 seasons in his prime. The three years he didn't over those years, they won 5, 5, and 7 games.
-
The truth is a funny thing. It's not dependent on whether you like it or not. You asked about other IUFB coaches success. I'm old enough to remember Coach Mallory. He managed to have a respectable team on a yearly basis and really good ones every few years. He got good players and developed them into really good or great players. He was also a class act. I'm not trying to argue with anyone about our current football coach. The results speak for themselves. Anyone can see his record and see him on the sidelines and decide for themselves. If that is what you want, than I'm happy for you.

I'm not sure that the slogan "bothers" people as much as it is just low hanging fruit. My guess is if it was a tad more successful, the jokes would go away. But the reality is that slogan has really done nothing for the program, and he keeps blasting it out it like it does. The results speak for themselves. We are the only B1G team not to have a player drafted. We now have the longest streak in college football without a player drafted in the first round. There's lots of shots to be taken...

He just de-committed. Wait... he re-re-committed again.

Nate is amazing at determining "Wrong place-wrong time" and "Right place-wrong time." ...or was it "wrong place-right time?" Strong correlation to player rating, but we all know correlation is not causation.
-
Part of me hopes they bring him along slowly, but then another part thinks he can help immediately. I like the idea of he and Taylor in the same backfield. The strongest part of his game right now is the deep pass. I would think adding his running ability with the deep threat, and mixing in some dump-offs and screens could improve their offense right out of the gate.

The Pacers need a couple of good defenders. He would be a great start!

It's 4/20. Maybe we should just all "chill out" a bit :)

Who doesn't want some really good wings? They make everything better...

I guess I misstated that. I just meant there was always a really good chance. No one ever knows for sure, but I think most on here felt he was probably one and done. Regardless, he was already on NBA teams' radar. Really, the point I was trying to make is that other coaches aren't going to tell players how great our program is. They are going to point out every negative they can when trying to talk a player into rethinking his position. "Yeah, JHS is going to the NBA, but he was already really good. What happened to Bates? Why are they such a bad 3-point shooting team? They aren't running plays for their guards. etc." Whether or not these things are true, they are going to point out any molehill they can and make it into a mountain.
-
If we are being truthful, JHS was always going to be one and done. Not saying he didn't improve in his time here - he did. But, he didn't exactly knock it out of the park over the course of the entire season. He is being drafted based on potential, and that was there before he ever stepped foot in Bloomington. Then you had Bates, who was rated similarly coming out of HS. Whether we like it or agree with it, I'm sure other coaches are quick to point that out.

Yeah, you're right. I'm sure that is the norm and not an extreme outlier. We're going to the final four!!!
-
April 20 and we have 3 open scholly’s and not a lot out there right now. Not sure how to positively spin that.
-
Probably just a wrong place-wrong time kind of thing.

It's almost like the NCAA has outlived its usefulness.

I've been in Bloomington for several Little 5 weekends. Sad thing is that I only have spotty recollection of them. Not sure why that is :-D

(C) Kel 'el Ware - COMMITTED TO INDIANA
bigrod replied to Chris007's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm happy, don't get me wrong, but sad this is what it's come to. The days of kids coming to IU because they love IU seems to be a thing of the past. I'll always have the memories. Well... actually, maybe not. Although, I'm amazed that I can remember IU's lineup from 40 years ago, but can't remember what I ate for lunch yesterday. -
C'mon. No 20 year old male is going to pick a college based on hot chicks! (Where is the sarcasm font?)
-
Yeah, I'm not going to say Loyer and Smith are terrible players - I think they are good. But I also think they benefited greatly from the focus being on Edey. Without him, they will be exposed a bit.
-
I was just getting ready to post something similar. I'm not against him starting if he improves offensively and can average more like 10-12 ppg., but I like him coming off the bench to provide a spark.

Dusty May - FAU HC - Former IU student manager

They said it has a very reasonable buyout for a top 30 level school. I guess that’s good?
