  1. That was embarrassing!! Honestly besides Bryant & Blackmon we have 10 points!!!! I was very high on Newkirk before this season, but when we play good teams he is horrible. He dribbles too much just like Yogi, but Yogi was twice as good as him so he found ways to score himself and was a better passer and dribbler. I don't like Newkirk running our team. Against bad teams he looks great as ANY IU player should. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app
  2. Your correct I consider that a pipeline though. Curtis probably thought TB was a goner at some points last year, but recruiting isn't based on just relationships of the kids. It is also about the relationships Crean builds w HS coaches and assistants. Kenny was a loss but I don't think that has anything to do with it. When 25 kids get selected to these all star games or other events we have maybe 1 guy were solid with, while other schools have multiple kids. They all talk about their schools to each other. My solution is to go after 3-4 big recruits and see how it goes, but aim our focus on High 4 star to 75-80 ranked kids. With Crean's development it makes too much sense. 3. Even crazier is Hanner had a game earlier this year going 4/6 from 3. Lol never expected that Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app
  4. The program isn't in awesome shape, but finishing last year the way we did with a B1G title and this year being ranked in the top 10 and the wins over UNC & KU and likely a strong shot at another B1G title seem to be in the top 10-15 schools out there. The recruiting angle in Indiana isn't Crean. People need to remember most these high star kids don't care about being close to home anymore. It doesn't have the same appeal it used to and kids want to experience something new. IMO it drawz them away from us then it would towards us. Hence why most of our high star kids have been from other states. As fans we need to see this and get it and stop acting like he has to recruit Indiana. I agree he needs to try, but if it isn't worth the time, then don't waste the effort. I find one common thing IU lacks is that they don't go after "friends". The best recruiting classes always have a couple kids that have played together at some point or something along those lines. We never seem to have guys like that in one class. 5. So happy we got this guy!! He could be a very good player for us!! I think he see's a lot of minutes as a freshmen even if we get Tucker. I like our nucleus for the future tho. DD, CuJo, Juwan & this kid make me have a lot of faith that we will be atop the B1G for the future. Until then let's get us a title!! Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app
  6. Also Zags are gonna win easily against Zona. Doesnt look close to competitive at the moment. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app
  7. Baylor's resume is the best, but without the IPFW loss on ours i stack it up just fine w them. KU & UNC will be top 10 teams ALL year long. Xavier, Oregon & U of L might end up getting 1 maybe 2 at the end of the year. With that said we did lose to IPFW so id take Baylor's. Wasn't knocking their wins at all either. UCLA will have the best win more and likely all year at UK as long as UK stays a top 5 team. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app
  8. Lol sorry my phone spells it that way. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app
  9. Johnson & Landford have be the top guys overall though. Their talent is unmatched and were in a good spot w both. Landford could be a huge swing & miss tho. I like Easley Jr as well. I think were in good shape w the '18 class overall. I know everyone said the same about this class. Different feel and continued success changes things. 10. This kid should be prioritized more than Garland IMO. Ever since Duke offered Garland it's been all Duke towards him. Maybe we find a way, but Phinisee is not far behind him and will be here longer. He's my top target for '18. We get him and a solid wing & big and im sold on that class depending on roster turnover. 11. I know everyone wants Garland and fair enough, but it'll take a strong effort to get him over Duke. Robert should get almost as much attention as Garland if not more, because we NEED a PG in that class. Him along w CuJo, a senior Morgan, DD, Smith & hopefully Tucker as well as Green is a solid nucleus for a good year. Crean has impressed me the last 2 years. I think this program is going upwards fast.
  12. More worried about Duke with him then UK honestly
  13. OG is 9th on the updated Draftexpress mock & TB is 22nd. Their both gone. Honestly they both gave more potential, so those numbers could be higher. I've said OG's ceiling is 4-7 this year & TB's 12-15. JBJ isn't on it, but I promise you he will be drafted. His offensive game is perfect for the NBA. His defense will only hurt him on draft night, but after it won't at all. The NBA is so easy yo hide horrible defenders. I watch religiously lol and Curry has led the league in steals yet is mediocre at best. Lillard is my favorite player besides Victor and he's horrible as well. There are a lot of bad defenders in the league a lot of them stars too. In the NBA its more team defense than individual. That's why guys like Kawhi get so much credit, because individual defenders like him are rare. JBJ is the only one who may come back, but it'd only happen if another injury occurs. He knows he will be on a team.
  14. I agree I should have rephrased that. I think after his junior year he will be on boards for his senior season, which then he should be one of the top 3 options. Things can change and injuries will be a big key in all of it as well. I don't think he will have the opportunity to leave early for the league but after his senior year he will have a good shot. Not many will agree with me on this but I have a good feeling about him if he can keep the shoulder in place lol.
  15. OG is gonna do big things this year!! During the live practice he looked a lot more fluid. I know some will say it was practice, but all I was looking for from him was to see how comfortable he looked and if his shot was improved. He made a lot of plays at the rim during 5-5. During shooting drills he looked very fluid. Juwan Morgan looked very good too I expect them two to take huge strides this year. Everyone expects it outta OG, but Juwan is gonna impress scouts and get on the radar this year. Not saying he's a draft pick already but by the end of this year and a big year next year I don't see why not. He is the perfect stretch 4 in the NBA right now.
  16. That's more of what I was referring to lol. Those people still won't attest to the hate they gave a kid who proudly represented our program. All the ones saying he better learn to speak another language, get a passport, be the star of the y league in virginia lol I read plenty of those and kinda why I don't talk on here during the season. Its sad how we talk about KID'S that are teenagers or young adults, but to get back on track, yes I was saying I knew he would make it further than most on here said, which dominating in NBA preseason and playing good in NBA summer league as well as having a good shot to make a roster is a lot more than what many said. He won't have the chance to dominate in the season cause the grizzlies are a veteran team. Baldwin probably won't even get that much run as their 1st round pick, so save the hate when Troy has to sit on the bench. His time will come.
  17. Always said Troy would be a better NBA player than college. The bad Troy things here are cause of the different types of games. I watch NBA regularly and I will tell you its get the ball and push. Turnovers happen to the best. LeBron has had horrible turnover games, but there is 82 games, so its not put under a microscope each time he has a game like that as it is in college. Troy always played to fast for even Creans system, but in the NBA its perfect. As an diehard IU fan I got mad at Troy, but when it came to the NBA I laughed when many IU fans said his game would struggle. Just cause the Warriors shoot 3's doesn't mean everyone does. If your a average shooter your fine as long as you have other skills and athletic ability which no one doubted will give ya a shot. I always expected this outta Troy maybe not this early though. He will be on a roster somewhere, hopefully its the Grizz for taking a shot on him. Now if Yogi can make it our alumni in the league is getting better. Noah looks great in preseason, Victor is getting a lot of media attention & coming off a 16 ppg season & improved shooting, Cody played very well down the stretch last year, Gordon just got a new deal and Yogi has a decent shot and will make a few appearances throughout the year regardless.
  18. I don't see any reason he shouldn't be on the team regardless of how many guys they signed. Yogi is one of the few that can create his on shot and has range. He's always been good at running a team as well and his game is more suited for the NBA in my opinion. I know based off what I just said you'd think he was a 1st rounder, but I've watched a lot of NBA games and I just don't see how he's not at least the last guy on the roster. Regardless Yogi will continue to work and make it someway or somewhere. Lin, Lopez, RHJ & Lavert due to using a first on him are the main guys. The rest of that team is a logjam of even talent. I do like Kilpatrick though. I think age between Whitehead & Yogi may be be the only thing that would make him ahead of him.
  19. I will agree with this 100%!! As nice as Sheehey, Oladipo, OG are and were it seems like Crean is obsessed with continuly going for the next one. At IU we shouldn't have a problem at least getting top 100-150 kids as the worst case scenario. Holt could be thrown in as well I guess. Putting one kid as a #2 pick and OG a potential 1st has swayed him into an obsession lol. I don't mind it if we have great players like we do now to live with a miss, but next year we may be in a different position. I believe in Crean though so we will see how things pan out just don't want to keep wasting schollys.
  20. If TB leaves next year like we all assume he will and maybe OG as well, Lee would fit in perfect. We have Davis & Morgan that would be in the frontcourt. That's it!! How wouldn't he get playing time? I don't think it happens based off reports he's pretty much all but a done deal to go to Cal.
  21. Agree, this seems very odd and it could hurt our pursuit of Paul Scruggs as well. Coming in to battle w Fisher, Newkirk, RoJo, Cujo, green and potentially JBJ as well as Gelon for guard play seems a bit over crowded. I say hold off on this kid if we have a real shot at Scruggs, which it seems like that shot is very good at the moment.
  22. Well if he goes through this process and doesn't do a single workout outside of IU, then I will agree with you. 99.9% sure if he wants any chance for solid feedback he will work out for scouts he wouldn't if he didn't declare or a team he wouldn't if he wouldn't have declared. Like I said if he just declares and sits at home waiting for people to call him lol I don't get why he would've done it in the first place, so if you do end up being right it shows how bad of a decision this was. He will be back, so there really isnt a need to waste the thumb muscles to argue this. My points are common sense for any prospect that is declaring and actually serious, which I'm sure JBJ is.
  23. Lol so you think he's not gonna workout for any team? Why even do it if you don't plan on at least offering teams what you look like now after another severe injury. If his interest is real, which declaring makes that very obvious, he will be involved in some kind of workouts or every team he talks to is gonna say show us your healthy first if your even considering someone using a draft pick on you this year. Direct feedback is key, but their going off pretty much the same things he was told last year with only having played an extra half season. I didn't think a workout schedule for him was needed to state the obvious. If he doesn't workout, great that means he will be back for sure.
  24. I only disagree with this decision, because he just came off a serious injury. I'd be all for this if it made sense for him, but its probably not in his best interest to be competing in as intense workouts that will be coming. Hopefully he stays healthy through this. If I was him I would've used this time to get back to full strength. Good luck JBJ
  25. I have a feeling a class of him, Scruggs, Durham, and a big somewhere is our class. Very confident about Scruggs and Smith, pretty confident as well. I would love Scruggs, Wilkes, Tucker, and Malik Williams along w Durham
