I'm also in the camp on the names out there that I posted and probably adding Holtmann and a few more aren't that much better than Crean. If we don't finish this year strong as good of a coach as he is IMO it is just time for change. Not that Crean can't get us to an elite level because he has been on the cusp quite a bit. I just think a new face may be what the program needs if we struggle the rest of the year. I think Purdue is the favorite to win the B1G at this time, but if we finish in the top 3 and make it to the sweet sixteen I say give Crean another year. The candidates out there just aren't that much better if at all. Stevens, Bennett & Enfield along with Mack would all be great though. Idk about Holtman. Ainge loves Brad to an extent. He stated this year after they got Horford, the goal was to challenge the Cavs. Ainge got rid of Doc Rivers like it was nothing, because that is just the kinda GM Ainge is. He is obsessed with winning. A lot of Stevens job future holds if they truly believe they can get that third guy. If they can't Ainge will eventually become unhappy and Stevens will know regardless of how good of a coach he is, that a title is unlikely. If the Jazz lock Gordon up to an extension before the year ends then it becomes more possible than it probably ever will for awhile for IU & Stevens. Most on here think there is no way, but I watch the NBA mostly night to night and only being 5 games over has put Ainge in panic mode. Let's say we give most IU fans what they want on here. Here are options IMO that are valid. Shaka Smart- would he leave UT for us? Maybe...recruiting both states is key for both places. Don't think he leaves this soon though. Greg Marshall- does he finally leave WSU after all this time for the "big" job. I think we could easily get him if we wanted. Mark Fox- some may think this is weird, but people around the country really like his knowledge and is well respected. Would have a lot more possibilities player wise than at Georgia in recruiting. If he had top talent could he still develop those low ranked guys like Crean that has made him so good. Could easily get him but isnt the name recognition most fans would want. Tony Bennett- if they dont get over the hump in the tourney again this year does he decide to move on if the right job pops. Was a candidate last time but didnt want to make the move. This would be iffy as a possibility. Andy Enfield- my personal favorite honestly. What he did at FGCU and the way he has turned USC around so quick is amazing. Great recruiter and developer. Coaching is good but not great. I could see this happening, but thats just me and I think both parties would be interested. Chris Mack- does he leave his comfort zone of Xavier with no pressure for the opposite at IU. He would be a great get and would think it would be a big possibility. Greg McDermott- another top 10 team at Creighton and his stock looks to be high after this year. Think we could get him with no problem. Seth Greenberg- I dont like this but the university seems to like him since he emcee'd HH. Could definitely get him. Brad Stevens- the one we all want but its not even possible without a playoff struggle from the Celtics. I think if we wait until after next year we would have a good shot, but he could also get Hayward this offseason and turn the celtics into a constant power again and he will probably never be an option again. I would do this in a heartbeat but realistically we may not have much chance. IMO Crean is on par with half of these guys, but honestly change may be whats needed the most right now with us. I am happy with Crean but also want our program to take the next step and since he doesnt seem to be taking us there then we need to make a change. What are your guys thoughts on this list? Brad Stevens isnt coming after this year. It only becomes a legit possibility after next year if the Celtics dont make noise in the playoffs then Ainge will move on. If we dont ger Stevens i dont want anyone else. If there is a better legit option thats out there then I would love to hear it. I don't see us finding a better coach with what is out there. With a Tucker commit we would move up to 13th. Definitely not a bad class by no means. Crean has always had a top 25 class sides the one with Victor and Sheehey which turned out pretty well for us. I am completely fine with Phinisee, Jallow, another guard & a big. Langford would be a dream get, but unless we win a title this year or have a strong shot to next year I don't see us making up the ground on him. It is crazy no one else thinks he can change his game. NBA players do it still, so dont tell me a young college kid cant lol. Plus a degree is a huge goal of his for his mom too. Most moms, but she was very vocal on IG when he decided to come back. Not saying that will be why, but it isnt a bad fall back. The thing that worries me is I get he isn't gonna be our top scoring option as long as JBJ is here, but when OG went out he didn't dominate like I thought he should. At the same time he doesn't get enough touches. I saw a article on bleacher report saying that some scouts think if he slimmed down a bit and got quicker on his feet he could have a big impact. But if he can't scouts want him to get stronger to become a 1st. He could gain a lot by coming back I dont get why you guys think different. He could graduate in 3 years which is a huge advantage and he could decide whether he wants to try to play faster or stronger and go at that. A lot of kids have benefitted by coming back and vise versa it depends on the kids work ethic and TB's is awesome. I won't doubt this kid regardless of when he goes. I think he should stay one more year get his degree and continue to work on his game. A big conference and tourney season could turn all this around as well. Honestly I may take heat for this, but I feel like impact at IU wise DD will have a better career than Bryant. Nothing against Bryant just have a lot of hope for DD. I dont think any girl consents to 10 possibly up to 20 guys honestly. That part is clear. She went to the apartment with the recruit and the football player which seems like if either of the first two he was the one pressuring her. All I'm saying is the video of her asking what to do w her gum and then making sure to say the recruit left saying this school is messed up doesn't sound like she had ill will towards him or that he sexually assaulted her. I just hope justice is served to those who came in after the first two and even he should be held accountable for not kicking everyone out. He did reach out to her multiple times so I hope he doesn't get looked at the same as the guys that sounded like pathetic pieces of well ya. It is sad that none of them understood how this would affect their futures. Sadly though there doesn't sound like enough to charge most of them with no bruises or anything showing it was forced. I personally would understand either route coach takes. Whether keeping him or not. Its his team and this will be his first big decision w recruiting. I would honestly wait to hear if there is anymore to the story first and if not I would keep the kid. Reading the report clearly and over and over when the recruit is mentioned, whatever happened with the first two was consensual. The girl even states the recruit left the room saying this school is messed up!! After the first two guys the rest is sickening. The video of the recruit and her was reviewed and police & the university claimed it was consensual. I don't like the idea of having a player on our team that is gonna be involved w this kinda thing, but let's be honest...if it stops after the first two....this story never happens and it gets marked as a college experience, but then anywhere from literally 8 to 18 more guys take clear advantage of her. By no means was I insisting they will all come back either. I believe all 3 are gone, but it's not 100% like most kids projected in the lottery or shortly after. I expect huge jumps from RoJo & Juwan next year as well as DD becoming a 12 & 8 guy next year. If Hartman comes back that is huge. I'd be fine w CuJo, RoJo, Hartman or Tucker, Juwan & DD our bench will be our main concern. Blackmon may not show up on boards, but he will get picked. As long as he stays healthy and keeps shooting the way he is. Good shooters are hard to find in the league. Specially one that can creat his own 3 too. Not saying he will be a lottery pick, but someone will pick him. Still think he may play another year though. TB & OG arent your typical prospects though. TB didn't even test the water and OG didn't seem to care either. OG's situation changed a lot, but if there are any two kids that come back that are being first round projected those would be the two I bet on. Still think we lose 2 of the 3 though. What exactly am I doing? I have been happy with our class and said plenty of times I trust Crean's development. At this point any kid w fundamentals and athletic could end up in the NBA under Crean.
