Our last coaching search was completely horrible so if we do get a new coach please don't jump the gun on someone. We called Tony Bennett he declined, we called Crean and 36 hours later he was our coach. I guarantee most of you don't realize our next option was Brad Brownell when he was at Wright State!! Completely different coaches, but if we fire Crean, most IU fans aren't gonna want another Marquette coach. Less it was Brad Stevens or someone of that level. They beat Creighton without Mo Watson and the win against Nova was great but they shot 17% from 3. I watched the whole game and Nova missed a lot of open shots. It is a good win, but nothing more. WoJo hasn't had any tourney experience and is to much of a risk. That is just how I see it. Mostly everyone but Ronald Nored that has been mentioned has a better resume. Melton just hit a 3 to make it a 9 point game. If not for 2 huge 3s by Ball this game is probably over already. 5 left. USC was up 14 against ASU w 3 left and barely won by 3 so will wait till the buzzer sounds on this one. USC looks good though. Enfield has made them legit pretty quick. Donovan rumors were very weird because of no ties, but last year they seemed to be around for a few months. That was also when everyone thought KD didnt like him so to keep him they would have to get rid of him. At the time they said Donovan would never be an assistant in the nba so it would be back to college, which the only big time schools that were in need were us and UCLA but since Alford had Ball everyone expected him to keep his job. Thag left us as the best choice if he got fired. It is completely different situation now and he would likely pull another head coach offer in the nba which probably wasnt the case last year. I get what your saying but if we fire Crean and those 3 don't at least get a call then Glass should leave the program. Our fanbase would go ballistic if Stevens didn't receive a call and there is a reason he is our DREAM coach. Keyword dream. It could happen but no likely. People talked about Billy coming here at times last year as well, but I think with Adams and Oladipo they know even without Russ they know how to build a good team, but they often like to change coaches as players leave. I think Wright is the most unrealistic but we wanted him last time so idk why we wouldn't attempt it now with him being an even bigger name. The middle tier guys are who we should focus on and really spend time scouting. Heck if Crean gets the boot we may have a guy come here none of us have a clue about. Westbrook can leave after next season? Lol a 3 year deal with opt outs after every year is not really a 3 year deal. I'm pretty confident every program and even pro teams still reach out to guys that can't get to gauge interest and to make the real candidates feel pressure to pull the trigger. WAY? Hmmm has been just as consistent as IU with better defense and besides this year less talent. Just went 5-1 against 6 top 25 teams in a row. I don't think we have came close to that kinda stretch. The GT game is rough but I think most schools would take 5-2 against 6 ranked teams in that span. Okay those 3 aren't close to that far fetched than Pop or Coach K and Kerr. Stevens has Indiana ties and has always been talked about with the job whether it happens or not. Billy had people talking last year if KD left and they traded Russ and IU was actually mentioned with him whether it was serious or not. Jay Wright before last year would've actually been a good option. As good as Nova is the program still isn't talked about with the other big programs and in the Big East. I don't think it happens, but coming here has some pros for him. You think Donovan sticks around if Russ leaves? The Thunder franchise is very demanding. Scott Brooks was considered the Steve Kerr of the league 4 years ago and got fired after the very next season. If Crean is fired at the end of thos season, this is the order of the guys I would make a run at. 1. Stevens 2. Donovan 3. Jay Wright 4. Marshall 5. Hoiberg 6. Miller, ARCHIE 7. Holtmann 8. Mack 9. Nored 10. Enfield 11. Leonard Hamilton 12. Alford (some won't like but he is number 11 for a reason and at this stage if we got here not much better around. Exactly!! Its either Ramsey w him as backup or if Tronti really plays well in spring it will be him w Lagow as backup. Whichever young qb gets the call he will have a short leash for Lagow to come in. Unless he can work a miracle with Lagow I think it is telling how much of a push we made for Tronti. He is 8th in 2018 though. As much as I believe he is gone this sheds a new wrinkle. In a weaker draft he may even be able to move up to top 5. That is hard to pass up. If he is able to do ALL pre draft stuff though I think he is completely gone. Mainly due to Crean wanting to free scholly without looking like bad guy. Like many others have stated Draft Express is the best site by far. Even better than Chad Ford IMO. I don't think they take schollys in account in these though. I havent checked the updated yet but Crean probably pushes OG out the door. I would welcome him back with open arms but idk. Chad Ford(ESPN)- 13th player on big board after injury. Draftexpress- 10th not updated yet though. Bleacher Report- 18th after injury Nbadraft.net- 2nd round but this site is horrible. Cbssports- 12th after injury Idk why people think taking shots at our own kids are cool. This kid got hurt so wait doesn't mean he goes from lotto to undrafted. Caris Lavert was actually projected in the 20s before the injury and nothing changed. After the lottery if OG isn't picked yet literally any team is liable to take him because of his upside. Not really an option for us, but looks like MJ Walker is trending towards UCLA. We expressed interest but never went anywhere. Alford has an amazing class coming in with him. Back to back and looks like their program is back. Alford took his sweet time but he may have it under control now. Ike & Leaf are potential 1st rounders like Ball but if they come back they will be a heavy favorite for top 3 preseason. Just maybe this year or next if he can show fans he can make it far in the tourney he will become a big target to replace crean if we get rid of him. As nice it is having these kids become interested in us...this kid isn't coming anywhere near us. Not because of us but because of how much he likes Auburn. Kid was at UT tweeting War Eagle all over. He just wants to make sure he isn't making a mistake. Unless we absolutely blow him away I just don't see it. For him to even wanna visit shows that the culture is changing around our program though.
