I agree that it is Chuck's job to get us in the door and Crean's to close. Illini have a solid staff as well. Sadly I expect us, them, MSU, Wisky and UM as well as Purdue to be the top of the B1G for awhile. On another note there is a few people on twitter saying we wanted Travis Steele first and it was him or Schilling's job. Groce was never seriously considered due to wanting a HC job. I think we got the right guy definitely. Steele is a up and comer as well though. Steele and Schilling would have been an absolute monster of a staff. Who cares what UK and Duke fans say? Honestly, U of L is UK's biggest rival right now so their fans arent as focused on us and Duke will always care about UNC and have no clue why they would have interest in what were doing. Ed Schilling is known on the recruiting trail and that is all that matters to me. He has 2 5 stars this year along w Riley who is top 50, he helped get 3 potential 1st round picks last year and a lot more. He coached Yogi Ferrell who you should know as well as Trevon Bluiett. Him alone honestly is better than whole staffs Crean had put together. Kenny Johnson was the only assistant and maybe McClain that was known here. If Clif Marshall comes here full time he gives us the best S/C coach in the country. Tom Ostrom and Bill Cromer are Archie's guys who he trust, which is vital for any staff. Bruiser Flint knows the game and is a tough guy from Philly. We have a truly amazing staff and I truly wouldn't pay attention to any staffs UK or Duke put together today and it surely wouldn't be something I immediately reacted to either. Only thing with Marshall is he has been known to work multiple jobs through the year. Working with the Bengals this last year but also worked with draft prospects as well as helping some colleges with conditioning programs. Obviously if you can get him you do, but probably why he wasn't named as a member. I expect him to help, but also have someone here to implement his system full time. Big time move by Archie. People can say what they want about Fred, but say we got Billy D for 7 or 8 million we aren't able to afford a great staff. With Archie and paying 3.5 for him that left the possibility of a top level staff. Looks like that is what we are getting too. Fred and Archie obviously had a great plan in place for when the move happened and it is working out very well so far. Huntington North used to be good in my years in High School. 04-08. Had Chris Kramer. To your point though it seems like the mid level schools seem to be the ones doing it and seeing if it goes okay. Besides David Grace, Schilling was responsible for mostly all of UCLA's kids. Which is a bunch of highly ranked kids. I will not give anyone credit for the Ball's but USC was a contender. They wanted to be in LA. Plain and simple. It seems like big bro and Calipari have been pretty good references for these guys. Schilling worked with Cal at Umass and Nets as well.
