(2018) PG Darius Garland to Vandy
Yogi's Picnic Basket replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Exactly why I am more comfortable getting into kids top schools list lol? I believe Archie & Schilling will close more deals than ol Crean and Buckley ever could. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app -

I get that but we have a shot. How many kids have we led for and lost at the end? Quite a few. You don't give up unless you know there is 0% chance. If that was the case he should have never called Romeo. Most recruits don't truly know until a month before announcing or if they fall in love on a visit. Being in top 5's isn't a bad thing. It gives more exposure. Diallo is the only kid who we made a top 5 for I truly didn't think we had a shot with. Being the school is obviously the best case scenario. If you stop recruiting every player you don't know about, then Archie better pick up a hobby. -
Schilling has wanted out ever since UCLA signed with Under Armour. Apparently no one was willing to pay his numbers until now. Plus the allure of Indiana recruiting probably had a lot to do. Also was told Crean was approached by his reps at sometime and Crean wasn't with it. Ed does come close to the line at times I have heard, but nothing that would actually have blow back. That is why Crean didnt want him. I am all aboard though. I honestly didn't think this was a possibility. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app

Have to think we at the very least end up in his top 3 or 5 whatever he makes. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app -
I think most of you guys wanted, John Groce, Lorenzo Romar, Ed Schilling, John Calipari as our recruiter, Mike Woodson and maybe a couple more qualified guys. You need one good/great recruiter, a solid x and o guy that can help you make adjustments and someone who can keep the kids conditioned at a top level. The rest are guys that you can trust, that won't make the job harder by having different kinds of opinions to where your constantly being questioned. All of our opinions are nice to note but we shouldn't question a guy being paid 3.5 million dollars before we have even played a game or any official announcements of any of these guys Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app

Let's just act like for a minute Bruiser isn't a good coach. With the other additions it makes no difference, but he is the all time winningest coach at Drexel. Idc where it is if you hold any programs record for wins in D1 then you have to be good. How good is what stops those people from going to bigger schools. Just cause he didn't end up coaching at a high program means nothing when we are talking about a assistant coach and not even our top 1 or 2 assistants. Point is he was good enough to win a lot at Drexel and it wasn't a 300-400 record and just got it by coaching a long time. From what I have seen on twitter, Drexel fans said he was a good x and o guy but was too old school to get any program changing recruits. They said he was tough minded and instilled discipline. Being from Philly that is probably true. If he was our top assistant then maybe I would question it, but Ostrom and Schilling will be above him and maybe even Cromer. I think he will have a positive impact on our bench and honestly any guy Archie picks, he has my confidence. Most of you just want names. Names don't always get the job done and these are assistants not our coach.

So Clif Marshall is proven enough to be on any sideline pro or college, Schilling has constantly landed too recruits, Ostrom is a great coach with ties to Billy D, Cromer though I am not as sold as others but seems to be solid and possibly Bruiser who is a great x and o guy and then talk of Jordan Hulls coming here!! Idk if Jordy does but man if that is the staff and Elston as well then we have a top 5 staff in the country period. Archie is doing awesome so far. Making Garland and Romeo priorities like they should be and also making in roads with Phinisee and Hunter. He has proved myself as well as many others who out him on their wish list and was excited about the hire that he was the perfect hire. It is Miller Time!! Who's declaring/transferring around NCAA 2017?

Giovanny said on twitter not to long ago he wouldnt put OG lower than 20 and a team like Sacramento could fall in love and take him in top 10. OG is definitely gone. I think TB is 50/50. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app -
As I have stated before I have a friend that works at Park Tudor and relationships with others from my basketball years and Ed is everything people say. You don't like Ed. You love him or hate him. There isn't that much hate out there like it seems, but the exact text I got from my buddy was, "Congrats bro, IU is gonna get some BIG boys now!!" "You guys are gonna love him, but he has Head Coach aspirations, so he may not be there long if you guys have a ton of success." He also said Ed was there not to long ago and joked that Archie better call him if he wanted to lock the state down. Looks like he may have been serious. What I have been trying to say, but apparently no one thought he would be "creaned". The kid just isn't gonna provide much here. Great kid but it is better for both sides. He actually plays and we now have an extra spot. I expect JBJ or TB to leave as well. I have been told JBJ assumes he is gonna be back next year and his dad loves the idea of Archie helping him improve areas that have been a weak spot. (2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
Yogi's Picnic Basket replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
That has been my feeling with him as well. Archie is doing things right so far though. Ol Ty Rogers has gotten several compliments on his videos of Duke. Archie is trying to do the same and social media is a great start. I know most won't like this but HH needs a big rapper or entertainer to emcee or perform. That kind of stuff is what kids are looking for nowadays. Crean's HH's were always boring weren't put together right. Romeo does like Vandy and UNC is gonna appeal to any kid right now, but give it time and that will wear off. They have 2 or 3 guards already for next year which could be helpful for them. Were gonna need to use our schollys smart since we will have 5-7. A grad guy or two and maybe a transfer who sits out and 3-5 freshmen. The sooner we can lock some kids up the better for our chances at Romeo. I still think it is a long shot, but kids we have had good shots with lately haven't even came, so maybe the long shot route is a good thing Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app -
I trust Archie completely, but idk if I like the Cromer hiring if it happens. DOB isn't a HUGE spot, but it is used for younger guys or ones with connections a lot to help draw in talent. I didn't necessarily want an Indiana guy for the spot, but it would have been nice to get someone with some high school powers connections. Dayton wasn't killing it on the recruiting trail. Changing your shirt only does so much when it comes to assistants. Need to be proven. We will see how it works out though. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app

Wow if that doesnt tell you how much this kid has blown up idk then. SMU, Nova, Wake Forest, USC, NC State, Pitt, Northwestern, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame among more. Seriously this kid is gonna be a star!! I just hope it happens in Candy Stripes and I am sorry, but if it means Gelon has to go then letting him go elsewhere for someone you have signed already makes the decision even easier. I don't know how a coach could hold that against Archie. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app

To be fair we offered Hartman when he was a highly rated kid. He dropped in rankings because of injuries I believe. He was still ranked top 150. I was never wanting Hartman gone. Actually didn't like Devin Davis still coming after he dropped. Just didn't like the vibe his dad gave off Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app

Just like ANY other school that has kids leave. It is part of it. Painter has lost kids, U of L has done it to Indiana kids, UK forced Teague to go pro to open up the PG spot, Butler has done it, ND has done it and just about every single school with local talent. ONE kid regardless won't make a difference. If it became a trend then yes, but one kid won't. It isn't gonna help us very much if any if he was to sit at the end of our bench for 4 years either. Priller isn't an Indiana kid and Gelon, though a great kid most coaches wouldn't bat an eye if it were to happen in all honesty. They would see it as Crean took a chance on him and he isn't the type of kid Archie wants. Sadly since he wasn't highly recruited or ranked his connections aren't that extended.
