He needs to change that asap then. I agree it isn't the best option, but it happens EVERYWHERE. If we owe these kids 4 years, then in return it should make them owe us 4 years. I know that isn't likely, but it puts us at a disadvantage. It gives them all the power too. Plus if we do move on it makes the situation a lot harder than it needs to be. I get that some on here love loyalty and honoring commitments to kids/programs, but all this talk about not wanting more kids because we would have to move on from one of ours is crazy. It is okay for all these kids to transfer or think about transferring, but Archie shouldn't be allowed to go get better players? Yes, Archie will be a 3.5 million dollar guy, but you know how he keeps that kinda money coming in or to get even more? To be good. You could maybe make an argument if these guys were his, but their not. What it comes down to is, it is his job to make us good and compete at a high level. With high expectations comes change and sometimes unwanted. I get it most of us like these kids and don't want them thrown to the curb, but if they have the option to transfer and leave for the NBA, then Archie should be able to go get better talent if he can. When you offer a scholarship to a kid, at the time you need him and sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. Things change every single year though and these kids know the game. If you don't perform, your chances of staying at an elite level program like IU aren't very high. Would it be sad to see Grant Gelon or Tim Priller get "Creaned"? Absolutely!! Is it fair? Not really, but kinda at the same time. For kids like those two, regardless of how long they are here, they are probably having the best years of their lives. If they can earn a scholarship at IU then there is at least one school out there that would take them in. With all that said, if Tremont Waters or some 5 star wanted to be at IU, you make room however you have to. I hated Crean throwing offers out non stop, but him constantly recruiting was never a negative for me of him. He always wanted to make sure he had the best roster he could have and also have a back up if these kids just decide to transfer or leave for the NBA. I want Smith and Moore. Both will be awesome pieces for the future. Rivals said Moore could make a top 50ish type jump a month or so ago, but there were concerns about the level of competition. If we went into 2018-2019 year with Davis( if he don't go pro), a senior Juwan, a great potential lead guard in DG, CuJo who has a h igh ceiling and add Smith and Moore to that mix and the 18 class just needs another guard or 2 and a wing and a big and it could be a big year. I know some don't want Creaning to happen, but Gelon may not have a spot after this year if he doesn't show Archie something. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app

Dedric Lawson is probably the biggest transfer in a very long time who actually performed in college. Man it would be nice to see him here but K.J is going with him. K.J is very good too, but Dedric will be an NBA player. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app

Honestly IDC how much this may make people question me, but I expect a big year from Freddie McSwain. How much he improved this year at the end and that video they posted he even has a floater he is working on. He has no hope of a consistent 3 game, but he could definitely fill a stronger, better defender type of Troy Williams role. Not that he is better or anything just saying the role Troy played in our offense. Archie's offense is designed for guys like him to over achieve and he is hungry. You can see it. I will be the first on the band wagon. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app

Haven't officially been released yet. Moore and Durham asked for it but asking and getting is two different things. I know Marquette is making a push for Moore but saw they are waiting for his release to get him to visit. That is what this meeting is about to probably grant their release. Smith is staying it looks like. Have no idea why he wouldn't. PT available and a starting spot is possible this year if not this year definitely next. Interesting. OG's spot is Smith who could be one of those kids, that means he is expecting a few more departures. TB is probably gone as well then. Honestly it is probably our 3 recruits. Moore or Durham havent been let out their LOI yet so makes sense. Rabjohns is just making us think were going after some others. Would like to get involved with Waters, Langford, Baker, Smith, Moore since he isnt technically ours and Garrison Brooks. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app

Random IUBB Recruiting
Yogi's Picnic Basket replied to hoosierpap's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
We are gonna need both. We will be replacing more than half our roster. DG, CuJo if he stays are our only guards next year. Justin Smith, DD & Juwan are our only frontcourt guys. I am excited to see what Archie does with this 18 class. It will be a top 10 ranked class regardless because of size. Not saying it wont be good. If he gets even 3 top 100 kids and fills in with 4 high 3 stars that will be enough. Personally I want a 5 star, 2 high 4 stars, a low 4 star a couple high 3 stars. That isn't a lot to ask. Carmody is a great scorer though. Butler has been the favorite for awhile though. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app -
If you go to Stu Jacksons twitter he posted the list of most efficient offensive players in the country. JBJ was on there!! Like I have continued to say, he may have his moments on defense, but he is one of the best offensive players in the country and it is mind boggling some of you want him gone!! Sign me up for a senior season with JBJ leading our offense once again. The sets Archie will get for him is gonna be a sight to see. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app

Behind this. I want our kids to show up to class, but we have to ask if we did pay these kids, why would they think they had to go to class? That is the border of all this talk. I would like to get 9-10 kids that truly care about both aspects, but I would not be upset if we had a kid or two that we had to do what it took to get. Part of it though for me would have to be still being a student athlete or the benefits stop. Then you worry about word getting leaked because their upset they have to go to class. It is a messy situation and I may not be behind it as much as I was last night due to watching UNC cut down the nets. College kids should be paid though with the amounts of money each school makes off of them. If Archie found a way to do it right, I wouldn't complain, but I would also love to win 100% the right way. Character of the kids still make the most difference to me. I don't want kids that completely don't care about anything other than the NBA or ones that have no interest in school. The NBA should be a goal, but a goal they need IU to help reach. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app

Sorry to say, but after tonight and seeing UNC in back to back title games through this I have to say, it is time to do whatever we have to. I don't want to become a scummy program, but bending the rules a little to help our program compete with all these other schools is the only way to win nowadays. If we expect to be elite, we have to do what the other elite schools are doing or they will always be a step ahead. The NCAA is not punishing anyone unless it becomes strippers or grades and maybe not even that now obviously. Kills me to say this, but throw a couple grand a kids way every now and then. I think your missing out on a guy that I have heard was pretty close with the AD and just made the Elite Eight. Mike White will take over his spot if and when Coach K calls it quits. Collins and Woj will be strongly considered as well. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app

Jalen is a very humble kid. I have been around him a few times and have a good friend who works with Sr. Not sure where this crappy attitude stuff is coming from, but being in 8th grade and having scouts chase you around and Spiece Fieldhouse having your picture in their building, you would expect a lot worse at that age. Unbelievable to take shots at an 8th grader lol. Wow Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app

I know that they know each other. Other than that there is nothing. I don't see why people are getting their hopes up again. Didn't we learn anything from the Billy D situation. FWIW former head coaches are more likely to get another job staying the course of waiting around instead of jumping in as an assistant. Not too many guys at a high level program like Illinois get fired then become an assistant and get another good job. He will either take a opening now or wait until next year. Rabjohns said Bruiser was the 2nd of 3 hires on our staff and that they would be announced soon. I know Ostrom is one as well. That is a head coach with a great record and solid recruiter and another guy who recruited some great players at UF and learned under Billy D for 4 years and then made some big moves at Dayton. That is a great staff so far and I am curious to see who get the Director of Basketball Operations position. I think Elston sticks around as well. S/C coach will be key too. I like Lyonel but not acting as a head coach during games. He needs to be restrained to practices only and I would not have an issue keeping him on staff. That whole article was disturbing. To think Baylor has been a solid program for years and this happened in 03, should make any excuse be thrown out the window for any coach. They covered up murder, got away with it and all the national media and yet here they are. Idk what it is with that university but they have to figure out a way to keep things like this and the rape scandals from happening. Coach K saying what he did deserved a lot more news than it did. If that interview with those 3 happened today, just think how bad it would be for even Coach K. Sampson and Boeheim don't surprise me. Boeheim has ALWAYS struck me as dirty. Great coach, but that is about as much as I can give him. I'm not saying this assistant deserves a job, but if Bliss got a job before him than he does. Bliss should have never been able to coach kids EVER again. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app

Tom Crean Press Tour 2017
Yogi's Picnic Basket replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
We are top 10 in everything $$ wise. And $$ is not everything, but 2 B1G titles and 4 Sweet Sixteens, an elite 8, a Final Four and National Runner up the last 15 years. That isn't earth shattering, but along with our revenue and budgets added we are still easily top 15 in the country which is damn near elite. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app
