This is the beauty of the 12 team playoff. In past years I wouldn’t have spent 5 seconds paying attention to this game but am totally into it. Edit: And looking forward to TN/Vandy, Bama/Auburn and Miami/Cuse. Playoff has added a ton of drama.

They should admit it but will never do so. It’s the SEC. Hell, the committee had TN leap up in the rankings because they beat friggin 2-9 UTEP. It’s a joke. Hopefully, take care of business tomorrow and we should be in the playoff. At this point I’m not all that concerned if we are mis-seeded as long as we are in.

This game may mean something. Where do they get seeded if they lose tonight and lose the SEC game? Fall behind IU ?

Bummer. Ga Tech could easily be up 13-0 or 17-0 at this point but it’s 3-0 :(. They are looking good….lets go Tech and give Georgia their third loss!!!! I love how the 12 game playoff makes so many more games interesting/important/exciting.

Wrong. :) If Ole Miss lost it would not have been a quality loss. The loss would have been against a SEC team which means it would not have counted as a loss at all.

The nice thing is that he agreed to a staggered payout of 1,000,000 per year, rather than a lump sum or higher payout per year, so money shouldn’t be a factor in firing him.

I’m not sure but think Quinn is off the board fairly soon. Hope that’s the case. EDIT: just saw AZ’s post about Quinn’s term being over at the end of May. In addition I hope the boosters that ponied up this year will also be impatient/disgruntled if this year is a train wreck.

I also wouldn‘t mind a PSU matchup. The OSU game was the first time the team encountered a huge/hostile/“big time”/loud crowd. I think having played that game was good prep for the PSU environment.

Most of the IU football starters are portal guys. Are the IU football players simply “mercenaries”? “ I just don’t get labeling individual transfer players as mercenaries when we don’t know the primary motivation of each of those individual players. And yes, I agree that other teams are doing better with lower payrolls which is why I repeatedly say our ROI is not good.

Dolson, in spite of giving Woody a million dollar raise, isn’t stupid and I trust he will try to replicate the Cig template. Cig was a brilliant hire but there was also a little luck involved as there are plenty of examples of guys having pristine mid-major resumes that did not successfully make the jump to a power school (also plenty that did have success). I just hope to hell the basketball gods allow us to hire a winner as these decades of mostly bad/mediocre teams is really wearing me down.

On a positive note, in regards to the state of the program, my mother-in-law jabbered about worthless shite the entire game and it didn’t bother me at all.

You are answering my post with a point I’m not making. I’m not stating that the ROI is good or that Woody is doing a good job. I don’t however, get the many money/mercenary posts when all the other schools are doing the same (even if they don’t have as much $$ at their disposal). If a guy takes less money to play at NC State, as an example, because he has less market value, does that make him less of a “mercenary” ?? The fact that we have one of the highest NIL budgets, with mediocre results, will help end Woodys tenure.

I get it, and am not arguing that we are getting value for the money or that Woody is doing a good job, but the “money theme” slides into calling the players paid mercenaries etc. The entire Louisville team is new. Raise your hand if you think they are playing for the love of the Ville with no concern of getting paid.

I don’t understand the numerous posts referencing that our guys are making a lot of money. Many, many teams have given their guys a ton of money and they are also basically professional players. It’s just the way it is today. I’m with you, however, in regards to the coaching aspect.

Nope. I wouldn’t trust anyone on the bench. Cheaney maybe? Wake up the sleepy guy and ask him if he wants to coach (at least he would probably be too tired to initiate mass substitutions)? Maybe Newton since he can’t play? Let the trainers take turns running the team? Gallo and Cupps dads as co-coaches? Perhaps we could have promos in which one of the random seats in Assembly Hall has a “you are the coach of the day” envelope? Maybe the Menendaz brothers could coach remotely? Basically….we are f’d.

One of the ESPN halftime guys just said “complete capitulation by the Hoosiers”. I don’t think that’s very good…..
