Lol. Same. At the time I don't think Sampson, Crean, or Miller were my dream hires, but in each case I felt very optimistic about their hirings. We as fans are both experts and idiots when it comes to these things. Edit: I never was especially optimistic about Davis - yet he had the most tournament success. Go figure.

Try emailing your elected representatives in D.C. if you want to see weapons grade form letters in action. I emailed both IN senators and got essentially identical responses - and neither even addressed the main subject of my inquiry.

Exactly. I'd liken it to Bill Bellichik - stoic in a word.

I can relate. I wouldn't describe my attitude as being 'angry' but more (extreme) 'frustration'. We've been in the position as fans many times in the past couple of decades when the writing on the wall is indelible - this isn't going to work. The frustration is feeling that the inevitable decision to fire the coach and hire his replacement may well not occur anytime soon. As Magnanimous said so well: "We weren’t stupid for hiring him, but we sure as hell will be if we keep him while the program swirls the drain." Beyond the cost of fullfilling the financial requirements of CAM's contract, there is no reason to let this continue for another year. Recruiting is stagnant and the current players don't appear to be fully engaged - I'd guess there will be multiple players exiting the program before fall.

Good chance we put it all together against UM - lousy start AND lousy finish
-
We all want success, and when the results aren't being achieved, we resort to hope. That's why recruiting threads get traffic. It's a bummer that the team is languishing in the standings, our recruiting momentum is gone, so changing head coach is really the only topic of hope at this point. BTW, I think somewhere in my bookmarks I stiil have the "Tom Crean fired threads".

What Does IU Need to Do to Get in the NCAAs?
pumpfake replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I have a question about contracts in this area: Let's say the AD will wait until next year to make a change due to the buyout (which I believe is likely). It's stated that the buyout decreases after 3/31/2022. Does that mean Dolson can't hire a replacement until April 2022? Or can a contract be made with a new coach but not officially fire CAM for a couple of weeks? The suggestion that Cuban is done giving money to IU athletics wouldn't surprise me. He's never struck me as being financially passionate about it (despite it being the a big reason for his wealth). But, it's his money. -
If this comes to reality, I either become a college basketball "agnostic" or purdue fan. Almost certainly the former, not the latter.
-
All of the above. Not a dodge, just great to see several players have good individual performances.

Probably for the same reason some think our roster HAS to be made up of mostly Indiana recruits. Having in-state players and a coach with IU roots would be nice, but should be a minor consideration. Best coach + Best players = Best chance for success.

Guilty as charged. Not the only time I was wrong, but one of the worst. -

Lander's stroke isn't pretty, but he's arguably currently our hottest 3-pt shooter. -

Looks like Leal has the "stand in corner" assignment today. WTH! -
Prediction League (Game 18 - Iowa 2/7/21)
pumpfake replied to Str8Hoosiers's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
We won a close one on their home court. Now it shifts to our home court. Therefore, logically: IU- 65. IA- 76. Somebody on their team will rain 3's. The good news is that my prediction (about anything) is usually wrong. -
We're reaching the point where "change for the sake of change" seems sensible.

Yep. Making too many low IQ mistakes. -
We "hung" with UI, but didn't really challenge for the win (IMO). We played a solid game at Madison and had every right to get the 'W'. But that's the problem: Every now and then we have a game like at UW and think/hope maybe things are finally clicking. Then, invariably, we quickly prove that those rare games are aberrations. To challenge for trophies and rings you have to play well, against any and all comers game in and game out. Every team has the occasional "great outing".

Not enough evidence to overturn the original call, IMO.
