Just like clockwork - I see Crean's massive net on this one as always. lol

I think with all else being equal, I want the coach who runs the best (up-tempo) offense. We are the "Hurryin' Hoosiers" after all!

+1 For the A.D. reference (the background music to this homage really makes it great).

Here's a scenario: AD talks to BS and they come to an agreement to hire him after the Celts season is over. What, if anything, do you tell CAM? Keep him in the dark and fire him when there are little or no openings available (and you have to eat the entire buyout), or do you negotiate a decreased buyout and allow him to step down so he can put his name in the ring for any coaching vacancies?

100% agree. I absolutely don't consider SA to be in my preferred group of potential replacements, but I'm reasonably confident he'd be an improvement over our past 2 coaches.

...and ends at 9.

If so, I hope the pen was filled with disappearing ink....

Bad news: we've sucked at basketball for 13 years & sucked at hiring coaches just as bad. Good news: It's increasingly more difficult to do any worse.

It's nice to see it quantified, albeit disgusting. Give or take a few %, this is the level of shooting prowess we've watched for 4 seasons now. Short of recruiting a load of future first-round NBA transfers (if such a thing even exists), it will be the norm as long as CAM is in charge (IMO).

What's the word I'm thinking of.... Oh, yes - "appropos".

Game Thread: Indiana Hoosiers vs. Rutgers Scarlet Knights

I hate the idea of singling out a player or coach with boos, but the AD and PTB need to understand this is unacceptable. -

Honestly, the way he was hugging the RU players after the game it looked like his farewell. -

Thought he might dislocate his shoulder there, lol. -
An argument could be made that Archie's biggest shortcoming has been recruiting. Beyond one-year rental of RL and TJD, he's attracted no highly rated difference-makers, nor built the roster with badly needed skills (shooting, PG to name a couple). His recruitment of non-Indiana prospects has been quite poor, IMO.

I *think* I might know who you are... Could you possibly be Dave "The King" Wilson's psychic, the esteemed Madame Balzich?

Prediction League (Game 26 - Purdue 3/6/21)

IU by 5* * Contingent upon PU agreeing to "take one for the conference" and boost CAM's chances of returning next season. -
Geez, no kidding. UA has to be the most "cheating tolerant" administration this side of UNC..
-
Probably true, but remember RMK himself almost left IU back around 1989...

First off, as posted moments ago, this appeared to be the scenario of winning the conference tournament. Second, winning the NCAA would almost certainly gain CAM an extension as it would amount to a miracle - one that has an infinitesimally small chance of happening. Beyond such a miraculous run the key phrase is "body of work" - which has been unsatifactory and is grounds for dismissal, IMO.

I can understand why you say that, but here's another way of looking at it: We fired a legendary coach only a few months before basketball season. Not a good point in the year to start and execute a coaching search. Plus, a lot of coaches would be hesitant to follow a legend. So we hired an assistant with no head coaching experience (in large part because certain players on the roster demanded it). He flamed out. We then hired a coach based on him being a minority (so the story goes). He quickly had a repeat of NCAA rules violations and we fired him AND took steps that really decimated the roster. We then hired a coach who took over and had to build from scratch. Got us to the top of the conference and some moderate NCAA success, then backslide. He was fired and we were left with APR issues. Now we have a floundering team and a coach that doesn't seem to have the ability to turn it around. IMO, the only case where we were in arguably better position was after Crean - and the coach we hired just didn't work out. Not because he was a horrible choice (maybe not the best choice, IDK), at least not according to most in the basketball press or RMK himself. We have a decent roster. By all accounts the academics have been exemplary and there are no APR issues. The biggest hinderance beyond several seasons of lackluster success is the buyout of the current coach. We can get a good coach, albeit with no guarantees of success - there never is. The AD and whoever is responsible can do it, but will they?

Drew was just trying to prevent us from making a mistake (we made it anyway).

Brad Stevens = Grand Slam hire Dane Fife = Clean up hitter executing a drag bunt hire. JMO, of course.

What Does IU Need to Do to Get in the NCAAs?
pumpfake replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I recall back in the early 80's when I slept, drank, and ate IU basketball how I laughed at fans of schools who got excited about making the tourney. You're in it to win it, at least it was that way for us. -
When someone provides fact to backup assertions that the administration is the basis for issues, I'll listen. We've been told players couldn't be recruited or couldn't be dismissed and things like that. Possible? Yes. But never much more than speculation. Besides, the football program is doing pretty well under (presumably) the same conditions.
