  1. I mean, it’s pretty straightforward. I don’t like the way Woodson conducts himself. I don’t like the way he approaches the job/the effort he puts into the job. He doesn’t have the personality I want in an IU coach.
  2. That’d be like the tournament getting canceled in 2023 and saying Woodson only made 1 tournament. IU was a lock for the tournament in 2020. Archie also didn’t have millions of dollars to use to spend on immediately eligible transfers. Ware is the only reason last year wasn’t every bit as bad as (or worse than) any of Archie’s IU seasons. Woodson has massive advantages no other IU coach For the sake of argument let’s say he’s better than Archie. That’s it. Mike Davis’s last season was marginally worse than Woodson’s best season. He got fired for it back when IU had standards. Woodson got a million dollar raise for it.
  3. Yeah, he can do a 180 with his personality and start treating other people with respect/start putting effort into his job. That’d go a long way. Until then, I don’t really care what he does on the court.
  4. He’s the worst, imho. He’s the only one who has the benefit of NIL + the transfer portal and it’s gotten him 1 tournament win in three years.
  5. I’m not sold on McCarthy at all and think Penix is a better prospect, but agree that he made more sense given Atlanta has their qb for the next 3-4 years already. By the time Cousins is gone, McCarthy will be around the age Penix already is right now.
  6. They gave Cousins a billion dollars guaranteed and then used the #8 pick on a quarterback lmao. Just hilariously bad decision making. And I doubt Penix is too pleased about it either, honestly.
  7. What are players with big roles on national title contenders/conference championship winners looking for if not a check? Like let’s be for real here for a minute. Arizona to IU is a step down in basically every way for a basketball player in 2024. If it’s not money, what’s the motivating factor?
  8. I mean, isn’t not prioritizing shooters in terms of who he brings in not also a sign that he doesn’t emphasize the 3?
  9. Why do you pretend that last year was Woodson’s first season at IU? In three years at IU his teams have finished 13th, 14th, and 14th in the conference in three point attempts. He has said that it’s not his job to get his shooters shots. He has said that he thinks basketball is played inside out. He’s telling you that the 3 isn’t a focus for him, and he’s showing you too. How much proof do you need?
  10. We’ve taken 22+ threes in a game 16 times during the 103 games Mike Woodson has coached at IU. 15.5% of his games. We did it 4 times in 33 games this past season. But, sure, we’re going to start averaging 22+ a game now. Very likely.
  11. Cupps never played with TJD. Was he going to run onto the court from the crowd to shoot 3s? Miller Kopp shot 45% from 3 in conference play and Galloway shot 47% from 3 in conference play during TJD’s senior season. Why would you not want to get two 45% shooters more 3s? It’s not rocket science. But, of course, getting them shots wasn’t Woody’s job.
  12. Again, you’re ignoring that Purdue had all that and then some with Zach Edey but still managed to shoot 5 more threes a game than IU. But that’s the difference between a real modern basketball coach and Mike Woodson.
  13. Purdue had that the past two seasons and still managed to take 20+ threes a game. Maybe it is rocket science?
  14. What are you talking about? Neither Cupps nor Mgbako were even on the team in 2022, and Anthony Leal played 24 minutes all season. If you as a team shoot 38% from 3 then you have enough shooting ability on your team to take more 3s. There was no reason why Miller Kopp shouldn’t have been taking 6-7 3s a game in 2022. We have three years of evidence of Mike Woodson not emphasizing the 3 ball but we’re supposed to believe he’s suddenly going to change and IU will be firing away because ‘just trust me bro.’ Like cmon.
  15. It’s 100% the system. IU took 15.5 threes a game in 2022 and only 14.0 threes a game in conference play despite having four rotation players shoot 37% or higher from 3. In fact, IU was actually third in the Big 10 at 38% from 3. But, as Woodson said, it’s not his job to get players 3 point shots. Are we really supposed to believe Woodson is going to completely overhaul his offensive system? Even when his team had 3pt ability his team was dead last in the Big 10 in attempts.
  16. You dont go spend a million dollars on a center to run your fourth straight two big season if you’re going to drastically change your offense. Ware had a usage percentage of 22.9% last year. Ballo had a usage percentage of 21% last year and 22.9% the year before. Ware took 13.3 shots per 40 minutes last year to Ballo’s 12.0. So, sure, slightly less usage, but not *increase your 3 point attempts by 50%* less usage. IU was dead last in 3 point attempts in the Big 10 last year. The 13th place school shot 2.4 more a game than us. We’re not going to suddenly become a top 3 team in the conference in shooting 3s.
  17. No, we went down the Brad Stevens road before, and the road led us to Mike Woodson.
  18. Why did IU stop having spring games?
  19. He’s reloading his squirt gun. One tournament win in three years. Most ‘stars’ on his roster than anyone else in the conference last year and he goes 18-13 and misses the tournament. But win three straight offseason banners and folks will crown you king.
  20. No chance. Only someone who is personally invested with this coaching staff would care as much at Tyme/NGW cares.
  21. No one will convince me that the transfer portal is a good thing. https://twitter.com/mikehoopspage/status/1780428085101232334?s=46&t=LoczziaTWuqlhvyvHGT92A
  22. Really the offseason further supports those who wanted Woodson gone. Imagine these NIL resources with a coach who actually knows what he’s doing (and wants to actually do the job, not just have the job title). Can’t give great ingredients to a mediocre at best chef and expect him to cook a world class meal. But our donors apparently only want to give the money if Woodson’s the coach, so we’re stuck with him. I anticipate he’ll do just enough to keep his job (given IU’s astronomically low standards), and we’ll be right back here next April in the purgatory that is iubb fandom.
  23. And the madness continues. College sports will be unidentifiable five years from now. They’re already worlds different compared to five years ago.
  24. We’re running out of room in Assembly Hall for all these offseason banners. Is it 8 straight titles at this point?
