(2019) SF Trendon Watford to LSU
Hoosierfan2017 replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
It seemed like the biggest concern a lot of people had was him maybe not wanting to go to a school where he'd be known as Christian's little brother, but from all his comments it doesn't sound like that's going to be a problem at all. -
"We will train in the weight room to be fast and explosive on the court." I love that quote. It seemed like the last regime was concerned with bulking our guys up in the weight room and it didn't always translate to the basketball court. I think Marshall was a helluva addition. Also, De'ron is looking good. By the start of the season I definitely think he'll be completely transformed from last year.

Dang. Atlanta won 60 games and made the Conference Finals 2 years ago and it's been all downhill since.
-
For me it goes IU > NBA > rest of college bball. I don't really watch much college basketball other than IU until tournament time.
-
Lol man how can you be an NBA superstar and have that weak of game
-
I like the NBA better than college basketball for the most part. *ducks and hides*

Whatttttt. I missed this lol.

Wow.

It doesn't make any sense to me either. Pacers fans have always seemed great at the games I've been to. He could've easily just went to the front office and let them know about his plans without leaking anything to the public, but instead he decided to torpedo any chances of the Pacers getting anything of value for him. Just seems petty. I don't really understand his apparent fascination with LA either. I get that he's from there, but if he's pissed at the Pacers for not building a contender around him it's not like the Lakers are going to be any better. They're the 4th best team in their own state right now. It's not like the 80s or 90s anymore where you needed to be in a huge market like NYC or LA to be a national brand.

I feel bad for Pacers fans. Not so much because George is leaving, but because he seems to be doing everything he can to completely screw the franchise in the process.

Either would be great as they're both elite two-way wing players, which is what the Cavs need against Golden State. Barring major moves I'm not worried about anyone in the East. The size issue would really worry me if San Antonio managed to come out of the West though. I think I'd prefer Butler due to his longer contract, but maybe PG would sign a short deal with the Cavs next year to compete for titles instead of languishing in LA. George is bigger and the better offensive player, plus his trade value is lower with all the news that has come out recently. I'm kinda thinking the Butler news is a smokescreen to lower the asking price for George.
-
PG is great, but if the Cavs are gonna trade Kevin Love then give me this deal instead.
-
It's definitely a gamble, but they can't run this same squad out against Golden State next year and expect a different result. They're strapped for cash so idk what other moves they could make, unfortunately. I think this is going to be an interesting offseason league-wide after everyone saw how dominant GSW was. I wonder if teams will try and look toward the future or make moves to compete now.

When he was around other good players on the Olympic team he played well. Right now he's in a hostile situation and doesn't give a crap, but if he's on a contender then I think we might see a little Olympic Melo. He has a no-trade clause and Phil Jackson has been trying to give him away so the Cavs probably wouldn't have to give up much to get him. Just match salaries. The main reason why I want him in Cleveland is that having him would (hopefully) allow LeBron to keep his minutes down and the Cavs to have a functional offense when he's sitting. I'd rather do that than trade for a one year rental of George because he'd cost more in a trade and then if he bolts in free agency next year they're screwed.
-
I only want George on the Cavs if they don't have to give up Love or Kyrie. Otherwise I'd trade scraps for Melo and find a rim protector.
-
They could do a sign and trade if all the parties are willing, but since the Lakers have the cap space they could sign him outright without giving up any assets. Here's an article that goes into more detail about sign and trades. https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2017/05/why-nba-sign-and-trades-are-rare.html

Hmmm. Why bother having that press conference the other day then? The article talks about trying to trade him to LA, but why would the Lakers bother? They can have him for free next offseason.
-
Boston should trade IT now while his value is high. He's gonna be looking for a big payday after his contract is up and giving it to him would be a terrible move on Boston's part.

Thompson's teams weren't great, but in his three years they were 17-16, 16-15 and 22-13. Nothing to hang your hat on but still much better than 9-22. He wasn't a #1 pick either, or even a top 5 pick. Don't get me wrong. With Embiid, Simmons and Fultz they're going to have a trio of three very talented young players. If things pan out then they could be a force in a few years. I just don't think it's likely that they do. Embiid has only played 31 games in three years and he has had the kind of injuries that derail promising young big men. Simmons also just missed an entire year with foot problems. With all that I hope that it works out for Philly. In a few I won't have anyone to root for so I'll just be looking for good basketball to watch. Hopefully that includes the Sixers.
-
I understand that... But 9 wins man. The kid's team went 2-16 in the conference. If I'm a GM and I'm using a #1 pick on a kid I expect better than that. I'd rather trade the pick for multiple 1st rounders and use them in a package for a star, like Ainge will probably try doing.
-
If a player is that transcendent then they should be able to at least get their team to the tournament. There's no excuse for a guy with #1 pick skill going 9-22 unless he's playing for the little sisters of the poor or something.

Boston/Philly trade confirmed. Seemingly good deal for Philly, not sure about Boston. Depends on what they do next. I was curious and checked out a couple Boston boards and the majority didn't seem very happy.
