  1. The Scott Drew discourse is going to look silly when we end up with someone way worse.
  2. What are the odds that “NIL assurances” are the determining factor here? I don’t think there’s a single thing Brad could ask for that IU would say no to. The only question is whether Brad wants to be the coach. Everything we’ve seen suggests no.
  3. If he wants the job, this is a non-issue. If he wants to use something as an excuse to not take the job, this is one of many routes he could take with trying to justify a denial. Kids adapt..I've moved many times in my life as both a kid and a parent. Parent decisions don't need approval from the kids... Yeah, it’s the tried and true “let me check with the wife” when someone asks you to do something you don’t really want to do. If Brad wants the job then he’ll take it, but it doesn’t really sound like he does. He needs “more time” to think about a job he’s had 4+ years to think about? Cmon. Enough is enough Brad.
  4. You’ve said this before, but I think there’s a fairly long list of guys who could do pretty well here in the current NIL atmosphere. Mike Woodson basically ignored a large percentage of his job responsibilities, largely gave up recruiting outside of the portal, was a very mediocre in-game coach, and the bottom still didn’t completely fall out underneath him. We don’t need a star, I don’t think. With the millions of dollars our donors are willing to spend, we need competence and work ethic.
  5. I’m hard to please, but Devries isn’t the worst name I’ve heard thrown out there. Brownell and McCollum being two I’d put below Devries. Hopefully we get Scott Drew and don’t have to call down to the Devries tier, but I’d be leaps and bounds over our last hire.
  6. He would constantly delete his tweets too after everything he’d tweet about inevitably wouldn’t happen. Where did his alleged “insider” designation even come from?
  7. The Riddler says so, but I think he makes some things up. Others are unsure.
  8. FAU isn’t Michigan, and he came back to FAU for another year after signing that extension. Did Dusty sign an extension with Michigan because (a) he’s happy at the Big 10 school he currently has tied for first or (b) because he wants to keep the chatter down until he leaves for IU in a month. Like, let’s be serious here…
  9. The most likely scenario is Brad Stevens isn’t coming here, evidenced by Goodman’s tweet saying as much, and neither is Dusty May, evidenced by him signing an extension literally last week, but some are spinning those two events into evidence they’re coming to IU… I hope Dolson doesn’t share their beliefs and is working on finding who actually might want to be our next coach.
  10. Did his son just start playing basketball four years ago? If he wanted to coach his son then it wouldn’t have taken any foresight four years ago to see that that would've been an opportunity had he taken the job.
  11. Except for the last time he turned us down… or the time before that.
  12. Let’s be for real guys. Drew would be an absolute grand slam. He took Baylor over after a literal murder scandal. One of the harshest non-death penalty punishments ever issued. After his first four seasons, he’s won 70% of his games over the past 18 years in a P5 conference at a school that had four NCAA tournament appearances in its history before he got there. We should be over the moon at the possibility of landing him.
  13. Zeller went to a basketball game so some leaped to the only reasonable explanation, I.e., that Brad Stevens is our new coach and Cody Zeller was scouting in his capacity as Brad’s soon to be GM.. Lol
  14. The only person telling other people how to post is you. You tried policing the Fire Woodson thread for months because you didn’t like what people were saying, and now you’re trying to do the same thing here.
  15. Except not actually a pastor… Cant hire Drew because he’s too religious. Who does that leave?
  16. Cronin would get IU back to a place it really hasn’t been in my 30 year lifetime. Hes not my top choice, but we can (and likely will, imo) do a whole lot worse.
  17. I won’t pretend to be an ISU historian, but they were a solid program the decade before Otz got there. Between 2012 and 2019 they went to the tournament 7 of 8 years. Won the Big 12 conference tournament 4 times. ISU isn’t UCLA historically, but it’s not Siberia either. Not even saying that Cronin is the better candidate, just that I don’t understand why some view Otz as a grand slam while they view Cronin as a single at best.
  18. Otz is 47 and Cronin is 53. The age gap isn’t huge. Otz is 4-5 in the NCAA tournament while Cronin is 15-14, including 8-3 at UCLA. Otz is winning 68.9% of his games and 57.1% of his conference games and ISU while Cronin is winning 68.7% and 69% of his conference games. How does this equal Otz “winning big” but Cronin “sorta doing ok”?
  19. What makes Otz a better candidate than Cronin?
  20. He’s talking about Pitino
  21. Purdue has three Indiana kids averaging 30+ minutes and a couple more in their rotation. I’m not a “only recruit Indiana kids” guy, but it’s a lot easier to convince in-state kids to come to a struggling IU program than it is kids outside the state. It can also help build a culture as a program.
  22. I’m not even saying McCollum can’t cut it at this level. All I’m saying is that he’s a huge risk at a time IU can’t afford to miss on the next coach. Maybe McCollum goes to Iowa and does well. That only matters if the guy we hire is a dud. Louisville fans aren’t moping about Dusty May. They’re happy with their guy who has them 21-6 and 14-2 in the ACC.
  23. I don’t care if he’s won 40 D2 national titles. He’s never experienced anything like running a program like IU basketball and everything it entails. The Cignetti comparison completely falls apart when you compare their backgrounds. There’s no reason for IU basketball to need to take such a big risk.
